The music thumped louder now, a deep bass vibrating through the floor and echoing against the walls. Sophia’s hands were busy stacking glasses and wiping down counters, but her mind wasn’t on the work. It hadn’t been all night. Every glance, every smirk, every subtle brush of a shoulder from the four men had been impossible to ignore.

She shook her head, muttering under her breath. “Focus. They’re just rich men… nothing more.”

But Luke had already noticed the twitch of doubt in her tone. That little internal struggle the flicker of uncertainty was exactly the kind of challenge he liked. He leaned back in his chair at the table, swirling the amber liquid in his glass, letting his eyes roam over her, pretending casual interest while actually memorizing every reaction.

Duke, Kyle, and Dru were doing the same with Tess and Lila, each tailoring their approach to their target. Duke’s playful teasing had Tess both annoyed and intrigued, Kyle’s charm had Lila flustered more than once, and Dru’s subtle gestures had Tess’s pulse racing in ways she didn’t want to admit.

“Alright,” Luke said quietly to his friends, “time to push it further. Subtle is good, but let’s give them a little… reminder.”

Duke grinned. “Reminder? Oh, I like where this is going.”

Kyle raised an eyebrow. “You mean… make them remember us?”

Luke’s lips curved. “Not just us. Them. The humiliation. Let’s see if they even recognize the difference now.”

Sophia adjusted her apron nervously as Duke “accidentally” brushed past her shoulder again. This time, he leaned just close enough to whisper, “You remember… accidents, don’t you?”

She froze. “Excuse me?” Her pulse spiked.

Duke’s smirk deepened. “Nothing. Just… testing reactions.”

She straightened immediately, heart racing, trying to focus on the glasses in front of her. Why do these guys feel familiar? she wondered, shaking her head. They’re just strangers… right?

Across the table, Luke caught the tension, and a slow, dangerous grin spread across his lips. This was exactly the reaction he wanted.

Tess was at the bar, balancing a tray of drinks as Dru leaned casually against it. He made sure to catch her attention without being overt. “Careful,” he said softly, “these aren’t ordinary nights. You never know what might happen.”

Tess’s eyes flicked up, confusion knitting her brows. “What do you mean?”

Dru tilted his head, letting the tiniest smirk appear. “Oh, nothing. Just… watch carefully.”

Even Lila noticed the pattern. Kyle, leaning close, brushed against her arm as he handed her a drink. She jerked slightly, her heart skipping a beat. “Careful,” she said, voice low, trying to sound annoyed.

Kyle’s grin was playful, teasing. “Always. But it’s hard to resist getting your attention.”

Sophia’s thoughts were a whirlwind. She hated the way her pulse betrayed her, the way her focus kept slipping. And then… a flash hit her.

Luke was looking at her differently now not just teasing, not just charming, but recognizing. And the subtle tension in his posture, the way his eyes lingered, it triggered a memory she hadn’t even realized she still carried.

Luke, seeing the flicker of recognition in her eyes, leaned in slightly, his voice low enough for only her to hear. “Do you remember me?”

Sophia’s head snapped up. “What? No…” Her voice was sharper than she intended. “I don’t think so.”

Luke’s grin widened, dangerous and slow. “I didn’t think so either. But… you remember the night you laughed at us?”

Her heart dropped. Memories she had buried rushed forward the sneers, the whispered jokes, the casual humiliation of men who had once seemed insignificant. She froze, realizing that these weren’t ordinary strangers. They were the men we laughed at… the ones we thought would never come back.

Duke leaned in to Tess at the bar, letting his voice drop. “Funny, isn’t it… how things come full circle?”

Tess stiffened. “I… I don’t know what you mean.”

Duke smirked faintly. “Oh, you will.”

Lila’s hand trembled slightly as Kyle handed her another glass. She glanced at him, and he smiled knowingly. “Relax,” he whispered. “It’s only the past… for now.”

But the weight of history hung over the air like static electricity. The women could feel it, even if they didn’t fully understand.

Luke’s eyes lingered on Sophia, a mix of charm and dark amusement in his gaze. “You were very confident back then,” he murmured. “Laughing at us… thinking we were nothing. But now…”

Sophia’s heart thudded violently in her chest. “Now what?” she asked, trying to keep her voice steady.

“Now, I think it’s my turn,” he said softly, voice carrying a dangerous undertone. “And I don’t plan to go easy.”

She flinched, part shocked, part… intrigued.

The club seemed to shift around them. Music pulsed like a heartbeat, lights flickered across faces, and every brush, every glance, every small movement felt charged with tension.

Duke’s teasing continued with Tess. He leaned closer, letting his words brush against her like a whisper of danger. “You look familiar. Do I know you from… somewhere?”

Tess’s cheeks warmed. “I… don’t think so.”

“Funny,” Duke murmured. “You should.”

Sophia couldn’t look away from Luke. His smirk, his dangerous confidence, the subtle way he leaned just enough to make her notice it was intoxicating. And worse… terrifying. Kyle noticed Lila’s reaction, leaning in to whisper teasingly. “You thought you knew me? Maybe it’s time you learned differently.”

Lila’s heart raced. She tried to act calm, professional, but inside… chaos.

Dru smiled faintly at Tess. “The night is young. Let’s see how much history matters.”

Tess’s hands shook slightly on the tray she carried, betraying her outward composure.
