Chapter 6: Take It Off

KEILAH

I felt the man’s hands and noticed that they were bigger and rougher than Weston’s. I could also feel its bulging veins running along his skin.

When holding onto his shoulders, he was much taller than I was. Weston was only a few inches taller than me, so that gave it away.

The man right in front of me is not Weston.

But who would come here and intrude in my cottage?

As far as I know, nobody else but my relatives knows about this place. And this man right in front of me certainly didn’t feel like my other cousins.

“Who are you?” I asked, abruptly moving away from him. My back hit the wall as my heart beat faster in my chest.

He kept silent, and I wondered if he was still there.

“Speak!” I said, feeling more fearful in my heart.

“Should you really raise your voice at a prince?” he asked, and I immediately recognized his voice.

Prince Enzo.

The very prince that Isabelle is supposed to marry.

What is he doing here?

I took a step back, but I had nowhere else to go. I could see his shadow, and I could tell he was walking nearer and nearer to me.

“What are you doing? Stay back,” I said, my voice shaking.

He chuckled, the deep and airy sound sending shivers down my spine.

“I said—should you be talking to me in that tone, servant?”

I pursed my lips together as I felt his presence just right in front of me.

“Can you please just leave?” I said, my voice wavering.

I didn't know what to do.

And I also don't know what he would do.

"Apologize, then," he said. "You bumped into me and dared defy my words."

"And you intruded in my home, pretended to be my servant, and even ate the meal that I prepared. I think I've already paid for my mistake—if that can even be considered as one."

I heard him scoff. "Do you know who I am?"

"I do," I raised my head. "You're the respected prince that Isabelle is supposed to marry. But, I really don't know why you would be respected if you act so high and mighty."

I know that I shouldn't provoke him more, but I've had enough of this day, and I really don't want to deal with anything anymore.

The atmosphere became silent, so I thought that he had already left after he heard my words.

However, I suddenly felt someone hold onto my cloak, causing my heart to jump out of my chest.

"This damn thing has been in my mind all day," he growled, before taking the cloak in his hands and ripping it away from my face.

May long hair flew up into the hair, and my senses were alerted.

This cloak—I have been wearing this cloak after I became blind. I lost the concept of what I looked like, and with my relatives constantly making me feel like I was the ugliest person in the entire world, I knew that hiding my face would be better for my heart.

So far, aside from Weston and Lucky, nobody has ever seen my face after I turned 16. Now at 21, I certainly don't have any plans of showing my face to a prince I barely even knew.

With my heightened senses, I was able to cover my face with my arms before he could catch a glimpse.

He sighed in frustration and held onto my arms.

I gasped as I felt the strange sparks erupt in my skin. He felt nice, but he certainly wasn't acting like it.

He stopped momentarily, too, so I wondered if he also felt the same sparks that I did.

"Remove your arms," he commanded, putting more force into pulling them away.

With my strength, I managed to push him away, but that only led him to become more persistent.

His strength was out of this world, and I was reminded once again that he was an Alpha. And I, an omega.

Before I even knew it, he had already removed my arms from my face, so I cast down my head so my hair could act like curtains.

His actions became gentler as he reached out his hand to uncover my face.

I was shaking.

He was going to see the monstrosity that is me.

"Keilah!" a familiar voice screamed, causing Prince Enzo to retreat his hand.

"What? Prince Enzo? What are you doing here?" Weston screamed as he went over our way.

He gasped as he saw that my cloak had been removed.

"Keilah," he said, unzipping his jacket and placing it over my face.

I sighed in relief as I used the thick cloth to cover my face.

"What are you doing?" he asked, his voice sounding like he was ready to fight.

I held onto his arm and pulled him back. I don't want Weston to get into trouble for defying the prince.

"Leave," I said, my voice still shaking. "I'm sorry for everything I had done, so please, leave."

I heard him sigh before his dignified footsteps became more distant.

When I heard the door slam close, I knew that he wasn't around anymore.

ENZO

"Fuck," I cursed under my breath as I walked away from the cottage.

I've never felt so conflicted in my life.

I just want her to take off her cloak.

That's all there is to it.

Yet, that Weston guy looked at me with such profound hatred that I felt like I was the one in the wrong.

And to think that the mysterious cloaked omega could become even more mysterious.

There's just something about her that I'm itching to find out about.

At first, I really didn't know whether I should stay in this kingdom or not, but I think I finally found my answer.

I made my way back to the car, where I saw my father waiting for me outside.

Matthew, my royal guard, was also with him, and they appeared to be looking for me.

"Enzo!" my dad exclaimed. "There you are. We've been trying to contact you for ages."

I chuckled and scratched the back of my head.

"Sorry. I didn't check my phone," I said. "I'm not late, aren't I?"

He sighed. "It's already 8 PM. Your mother had texted me that we should head home right about now. So, let's go," he said, opening the car door.

I stood in the same place as my father went inside.

"Well," he said. "Aren't you going to come in?"

I shook my head.

"I'm staying, dad," I said, causing him to raise his eyebrows in surprise.

"You finally made up your mind?" he asked.

"Yes."

He smiled. "Well then. I guess you're actually quite interested in knowing about Princess Isabelle, huh?"

I pursed my lips together.

"Alright," he said. "I'll allow you to stay here for a month. Matthew will be with you throughout your stay, and don't hesitate to contact us if you run into any trouble."

"Will do, dad," I said.

"Good," he nodded his head.

"See you in a month," I said.

"See you in a month—hopefully with a wife," he cheekily said.

Sand Kastle

So, Enzo's going to be staying with the Lockharts, huh? What do you guys think about the characters at this point?
