Chapter 67: I See The Light

"Mark?" I asked, looking at him with wide eyes.

He chuckled as he placed down his cleaning materials and walked toward me.

"It really is you," he smiled. He still had the same innocent smile as when we were kids.

It made me feel good. Out of all the atrocious things I went through when I was young, Mark was one of the few people who made it bearable.

The two of us worked together when we were children—being exploited at a young age and all.

He was a great friend, and we got separated when we moved away because of my father's work.

"I can't believe this," he said. "You look good—really good."

I smiled and shook my head, flattered at his compliment.

"Well, of course," I said. "I looked like a mongrel when we were younger."

"You didn't," he assured. "You looked good back then. You look happier now."

"I am," I said.
