Kai

From the moment I allowed Loki to take control, I didn’t know what happened. I knew nothing until I saw my dad standing in front of me, looking frustrated.

We sit in his office to make sure we have privacy, and my mom just gave us each a cup of hot chocolate to help calm us all down. She also sets out some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and some popcorn. It reminds me of days when we were in elementary school, and we practically lived off of that all the time. I think that’s why she did it, to give us a bit of nostalgia and help us relax and honestly, it seems to work a bit. As we eat, I explain to them what happened and how Loki asked for control, and I gave it to him and then he completely shut me out.

My dad is leaned back in his chair with his hand on his chin as he thinks about everything I said. This isn’t normal. Wolves aren’t supposed to block you out like that until later, when you have complete and total trust in one another. On top of that, why did Lux and I shift on a new moon instead of a full moon?

Us shifting tonight was completely unexpected by our entire family and there was no time to prepare for it!

So many things about this just doesn’t make any sense.

Lux says, “I could hear everything, and my wolf let me hear all of their conversations. It thrilled Loki to be out, and he did not want to go back into Kai’s body at all. I actually think we’re lucky that he shifted.”

My dad shakes his head, “He shifted because I commanded him to shift. I’m the Alpha King. He has no choice but to follow my directions. It’s very unusual for a wolf to act like this. What was he doing, Lux?”

She shrugs, “From what I could hear and from what my wolf, Kodi, was saying, it sounds like Loki has an enhanced amount of strength. He was very playful and had what she called the ‘zoomies’. He knocked down a couple of trees, though.”

My voice comes out shocked, “He did what?!”

She nods, “Kodi said that from what she could tell he wasn’t even trying. It was like a slight push of his paw and down went the tree.”

My jaw dropped open and my mom laughs, “Well, I guess we know what the Ruby wolf’s special trait is.”

I roll my eyes, I hate when she calls me a ruby wolf. I know it’s because of my eyes, but it just sounds so feminine.

All royal wolves have ‘gemstone eyes’. My mother’s eyes were a beautiful purple sapphire. They originally thought it was amethyst, but there was something about the shade of purple that made them positive it was sapphire. And whenever she mated with my father, it caused his eyes to have a golden ring around them. They say that any mate of a royal will have a similar effect on their eyes.

My sister has opal eyes and I have ruby. I wish mine were opal like hers, then I wouldn’t feel quite so girly. Some people have picked on me for potentially being part vampire. I know it’s not true, but I never told my family. They would be furious to learn someone picked on me like that.

But even my dad is smirking from my mom’s remark and says, “It’s impressive that your wolf is that powerful. But he’s stubborn and he can’t be allowed to roam free and fully take over your body. You’ve already been training for what life will be like as Alpha King, but now this is a whole new hurdle that we must consider. As we attempt to work with your wolf, you will have a lot of intense training. You have to learn how to control him and how to take control back if he’s ever able to force you back.”

I nod in agreement and I ask, “How did I look? I never got to see myself.”

My mom smiles at me, “You reminded me of your dad’s wolf. You had a chocolate brown body like his, but instead of white accents, they were silver like me. Silver paws, tail, and tips of your ears.”

My eyebrows furrow and I say, “So, I was the opposite of Lux?”

My dad says, “We never saw Lux’s form today. But come to think of it, yes, I think when she transformed as a pup, she was silver with chocolate brown accents.”

I mutter, “Interesting.”

My mom comes to my side and gives me a hug and says, “I know that this is difficult and not exactly what you had expected whenever you gained your wolf, but it’s going to be okay. It will just take a bit of time to get adjusted.”

I nod in agreement and say, “I’m going to head to bed. I’m exhausted.”

Lux adds, “Me too.”

I walk over to her and take her hand and lead her towards our rooms. As we walk, I say, “I’m glad I got to shift with you, sis.”

She smiles, “I’m glad I could be there for you. And I’m glad our wolves seemed to get along well. I could tell Kodi enjoyed playing with Loki. She just got frustrated that he didn’t seem to know when it was time to stop playing.”

I nod, “I can understand why that would be frustrating. It was frustrating for me not being able to get control of my body.”

She reassures me, “You’ll be able to figure it out, Kai, I’m sure of it. Your wolf is unique, but maybe this journey with him will help you appreciate him more!”

I mumble, “Perhaps.” She smiles and tells me goodnight as she disappears into her room. I go back to my room, but the entire night I’m unable to sleep. All I could think about was my wolf.

Lux

The morning after shifting was different. It’s like everything was enhanced even more than normal. I thought it was odd just because my senses were already enhanced because of me shifting as a child.

I woke up earlier because I could hear tons of footsteps around the pack house. If I tried, I could hear conversations that the omegas were having as they prepared breakfast. And as breakfast started cooking, I could smell all the scents, as if it was in my room.

I rushed to the shower and once I was done; I rushed to the closet and grabbed a dress, deciding that was the safest thing I could’ve grabbed because I didn’t know if things would match if I picked out a shirt and bottoms. Once my dress was on, I ran to the door and stumbled over something in my room, but thankfully, it wasn’t anything too crazy, just a stubbed toe.

As I grab the doorknob, the door opens up and I immediately smell the scent of the ocean and I knew it was Silas standing in front of me. My stomach is in knots as the memory of our kiss is engrained in my mind. He chuckles, “I wasn’t expecting you to be awake already. You look great.”

I smile, “Thanks.”

A moment passes and I hear him taking a couple of steps into my room and then he asks, “Who helped you?”

“No one, I did it on my own. I could smell breakfast and my stomach started growling, so I rushed to get ready. Now, come on, let’s go get food.”

He laughs as he places my arm in his and he leads me down the stairs towards the dining area. My stomach is swirling as if there’s a tornado of butterflies in there from the fact Silas and I are so close.

A part of me hates it. Why do I feel this way? He isn’t my mate!

But I can’t help but think of the taste of cotton candy and how I am desperate to taste it again.

He helps me sit down and helps get my plate together. I didn’t realize how ravenous I was, and my wolf Kodi speaks up, “Eat lots of protein. Shifting takes a ton of energy, and we’re not going to be able to thrive on all those carbs you eat.”

I can’t help but chuckle to myself from her comment and I tell Silas, “Extra protein, please.”

I can hear the confusion in his voice as he responds, “Really? That’s not normal for you.”

“Well, I shifted, so I’m different from what I was.”

“You shifted?! When!?” He demands and I laugh, “Last night, both Kai and I did. Now, food, please.”

He puts the plate in front of me and I dig in as I hear him mumble, “I can’t believe you didn’t tell me immediately.”

I have an urge to kiss him or hug him... something, anything, to regain that physical connection!

But I refrain. I have to. It’s not fair to my potential mate for me to fall for someone else.

Pain consumes my heart and makes me tear up as I realize I might have to put some distance between me and my best friend.

  • The Blind Wolf Princess   Chapter 40 | Ten Years Later

Ten years later Lux Life is… good and it’s crazy. That’s honestly the best way I can describe it. Silas and I had Selene and Samson and after having them we thought we would be done. But, life had other plans because five years later we found out we were pregnant with another boy girl twin set. We named them Athena and Ace. Selene and Samson are now 10 while Athena and Ace are now 5. David and Charlotte had one more kid named her Penny. So, Leo is now 11 and Penny is 8. Iris said she would never ever ever have another kid after going through childbirth. So, she and Calvin are very happy having just Griffin. Griffin is now 11 years old just like Leo. Kai and Genevieve have been the busy baby-makers over here. They had Lincoln first got pregnant a year later with a set of twins named Marie and Avery. They were identical twins at birth, but through an unfortunate situation Avery died, but it woke up her vampire side. The only difference between the girls now is that Avery has red ey

LuxIt took a while before I could get out of Silas’s embrace, but I was finally able to call Marinette. I walked out to the balcony as the phone rang and I couldn’t help but smile when I heard her chipper voice, “Lux? How are you!?”I chuckle, “I’m good, Marinette, how are you doing? And how is sweet Marigold?”“We’re great. And she’s so big now, you wouldn’t believe it! How was yours and Silas’s trip?”“It was great. The moon goddess actually gave me might sight back. But we had some discoveries that happened. Um, any chance you could help me figure out if something might be in Leviticus’s journal?”“That’s incredible, Lux. And I’ve read the thing cover to cover multiple times. What do you need to know?”“I need to know about a guy named Abel and if he is good or bad. I also want to know how vampires order was… did they have like a King and Queen?”“No, they didn’t. They respected whoever was the oldest or had the purest line which happened to be Leviticus and his parents. And Abel

  • The Blind Wolf Princess   Chapter 38 | The Throne

LuxGenevieve looks at all of us and then looks back and forth between Kai and me and then says, “You freaked out, didn’t you?”My lips press together as Silas looks at me and questions, “What is she talking about?”Kai says, “Hey, how about the four of us go to my office. We need to discuss this Marinette thing. And Calvin and David, the two of you should go be with your families. We have an early training tomorrow.”Both of the guy’s grumble as they leave and I can’t help but smirk from their reactions. Silas takes my arm and Kai takes Genevieve’s as we all walk to his office. Genevieve walks straight to Kai’s desk and grabs a phone and makes a quick call and Kai starts to ask, “What are you-”Then she started ordering food and he sits down as he says, “Oh!”Genevieve takes a seat and looks directly at me as she asks, “What’s wrong with Kai’s idea?”Silas looks over at me and asks, “What is she talking about, Lux?”I groan and say, “Kai thinks that I should also take the throne… and

  • The Blind Wolf Princess   Chapter 37 | Good Idea

LuxI shifted into Kodi and urged her to run as fast as she could. Her paws pounded against the ground and I loved the confidence exuding from her now that she can see where she’s going. She is a little cocky though, she’s pretty confident in her ability to outrun Loki.I can’t believe Kai would even suggest us being co-rulers! I can’t be Luna Queen… it’s not my place. It’s a good thing I was blind because I don’t think I could handle all of the pressure and responsibilities that are tied in with being a Queen! On top of it, look at Kai and Genevieve. They make the whole thing look so effortless. If Silas and I came into the mix I’m sure I’d just mess it up.My sadness seems to fuel Kodi as she runs further away from the waterfall and away from the pack house too. She knew I wanted to be alone and was trying her best not to go somewhere that Loki or Kai would instantly think of.A small part of me wants to talk to Silas, but another part of me doesn’t want to. He’ll just talk about ho

  • The Blind Wolf Princess   Chapter 36 | Information

LuxSilas wasn’t surprised by mine and my dad’s conversation and we both agreed that it would be best for us to go home tomorrow and to make this just a single day trip. We needed my dad to see that we’re serious about this. He could have a relationship with me and Kai or he could have a life without us. He doesn’t get to pick and choose. We promised Christopher and Nadia that we would come to visit again after our babies were born and we thanked them for their hospitality before we made our trip home. We were eager to get home. We’ll be having another ultrasound soon and this time we should be able to figure out the gender of the babies.I felt relieved as we drove onto the pack grounds and I looked forward to getting to sleep in our own bed. But as we pulled up to the pack house, I was surprised to see Kai sitting on the front steps by the front door. I braced myself expecting that he is going to be angry with us for going around

  • The Blind Wolf Princess   Chapter 35 | Everything's Okay

KaiI can’t believe that Lux and Silas went around me to Genevieve.I would’ve given them permission. It would’ve been hard to see them go… I keep having a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach that they’re going to leave and not return and… I can’t afford that. I need them here, but Silas keeps avoiding me when I try to bring up the topic of him becoming a Royal Beta again.I don’t understand why. He was raised knowing that he and David would both take the position and he had always seemed excited over it. And now it’s like he doesn’t care about it anymore.Hopefully Lux is able to get our dad to come back so we can resolve things and maybe I could get some answers.Genevieve comes into our room and sighs as she looks at me. She says, “It’s going to be okay.”I nod, I know she’s right. She always is.She says, “Maybe this will help with your dad.
