September Chapter 60: One Bullet

The time machine sat in Emmet's lap, as if it had all right to be there, sitting innocuously and innocently, digging into his broken leg with a sharp, jagged edge.

The outer casing looked as if it had suffered various burns on it, with dents littered over the who machine, with one corner particularly damaged and caving inwards as if it had been dropped from a massive height.

It almost seemed miraculous that the buttons and the interface looked completely undamaged, even if the giant red button that Jasper had used to escape from Emmet looked as if it was on its way to falling off, sticking out at an odd angle, the spring inside clearly needing to be replaced.

Emmet scrambled to alleviate the pain that it was causing him and rolled the time machine over, using his chest, to balance the huge, boxy thing, and his one remaining good arm. He looked at the interface and pressed the green button in the corner, to turn the machine on.
