Ayla's pov

I woke up before my alarm, staring at the ceiling with anticipation of my meeting with the unknown today.

I showered minutes after and brushed my hair into a sleek fall, allowing the straight stands to fall past my shoulders while I applied mascara and some liner and the contact lens.

I applied some Kylie cosmetics and wore a regular Kiton suit, one of my Chanel bags across my shoulders and a black Louis Vuitton kitten heels.

I stared at the mirror and reached for my wolfsbane perfume.

‘Don’t even dare’ Nyx growled

I rolled my eyes and proceeded to try to spray

‘You know it hardly works…. Plus if you want to take out the unknown today. If anything happens, you need me’

And that was tempting.

I let out a small sigh of defeat as I picked up a regular smart collection and spritzed.

All I had to do was act normal, avoiding any intense emotions that could trigger Nyx.

When I came downstairs, Clara was sitting on one of the couches, tapping away on her phone.

“And the queen butterfly comes out of her cocoon," she said without casting me a glare.

Clara's hair was tied to a bun which was rare and could only mean she had an important meeting today.

“Hey Clara” I smiled as I leaned to where she sat and planted a kiss on her head.

"Remind me to never order take outs when you're down with headaches"

I knew she probably had to dump that food in the trash last night and she wasn't happy about that.

“Oh please Clara baby we are billionaires…

“Ten more regular takeouts yes but a take out with so much love like last night's, never again" she cut in, pouting. but I only blew her a kiss, striding towards where all the car keys were hanged. “And did I forget the lover boy's waiting outside?" she added.

Shit.

Aiden did say he'd pick me up.

I hung the Bentley keys back and headed towards the door.

“Hey” I said as I stepped out of the house to catch him leaning comfortably on his grey land cruiser.

Hey beautiful” he reached for me a I came closer and caught my waist, pulling me towards him and planted a small peck on my cheek

“You okay?” Lowering his eyes as he searched mine , I stood on my tiptoes even while wearing my heels to give his a light kiss

“Never felt better” I purred. He smiled in satisfaction

“Did Clara try to give you any medication?” He asked in what was supposed to be a hushing tone

“I heard that” Clara interrupted as she stood at the foot of the door.

Aiden looked back at me and we both chuckled

“No,” before looking back at her "but she did offer me beef which I found extra caring”

“Which she rejected.” Clara put in. "She practically ate nothing last night" folding her arms across her chest

Still in Aiden's embrace I scoffed.

“Don’t you have a breakfast date or something…”

I felt a soft pull to distract me.

“You cancelled our dinner to stay home and sulk?” I opened my mouth to defend myself but was stopped my his hands on my lips "Guess we have to stop by a cafe for breakfast”

He pulled me away and led me to the car, he got the door for me and led me in.

“I don't think that's necessary, I mean I have a morning meeting with the board and everything” I try to protest.

"Well call Tessa to cancel it," staring down at me with a calm tone “Because we are having breakfast" closing the door in my face before I could say anything more.

***

We had breakfast and shopped for his mom. Hours later, I watched him drive off to his firm after dropping me at the back of the building where my private elevator was, away from the paparazzi.

As soon as I stepped into the office Tessa stepped in along with me.

“Good morning ma'am" she said with a curt tone.

I slumped on my chair and crossed my legs. "Morning Tessa, I've cancelled my 9am meeting so I expect to be free for the whole day"

"Well you are. But the CEO of Bells has requested for a private meeting”

My brow arched, wondering why Isabella Diego, my biggest fashion rival, would choose to meet today of all days.

“Tell her to…

“I'm afraid she's already here ma’am" Tessa cut in

“Huh?"

“You went through the private elevator so you didn't see her waiting"

I exhaled softly, pinching my nose bridge before rising up from where I sat.

I glanced at my watch.

Six minutes past eleven. Mayfield was a forty minute drive from here, surely I could spare fourteen minutes for Bella without conjuring intense emotions and risk ripping her apart.

“Let her in and arrange for my Bentley to be here in the next ten minutes, beep my Intercom when it arrives”

"Yes ma’am” she bowed before closing the door behind her.

Almost immediately, Isabella came in.

Blond. Long lashes and a cologne that made my wolf choke, she was light toned with a glassy skin. Her eyes were like that of a cat and her lips were ever so full. She stepped in wearing a Gucci fur coat and a short Gucci buckled up brown dress and Gucci heels.

I rose up. Staring at her squarely, I was by far the only fashion heiress who couldn't be intimidated by THE Isabel Diego.

“Guth day Mith El" elaborating her Spanish accent.

"Good day Isabel, what brings you here?"

She observed the aesthetic of my office before drawing in a chair to sit.

“No need to be so formal Elara, I mean we both are the biggest host of the grand fashion show of Seattle" switching back to her English accent which still had the Spanish tone.

I crossed my arms.

“Well that doesn't make us acquaintances," I informed.

"True” she waved her hand in the air "but still.."

“Look Isabel" glancing at my watch “I really have no time for this, you here to talk or what?”

Her eyes locked on mine, then she rose up "I am here because when I see any of my designs up on that runaway…

‘We should just kill her right here’ Nyx whispered

I glanced at the intercom beeping.

“You should leave" I cut in, already feeling the sharp end of my claws. Isabella clenched her jaw, it was no doubt she felt insulted. I packed some things into my bag and swung it over my shoulder.

“We should leave together, to represent a feud."I say and with that I walk out from behind my desk and head for the door, signalling the guards in front of my office to take care of her.

I went through the private elevator again, this time into a grey Bentley, I started the ignition and switched the gear. My phone hadn't pinged and I had approximately forty five minutes to face my fate.

I reached the warehouse, swiping the keycard before it opened up for me.

“Here goes nothing," I muttered.

The warehouse was quiet, nothing smelt funny except the smell of new imported leather bags and silk clothing.

The sound of my heels were the only concurrent sound I heard and nothing else.

“Who's there?” I called out, turning around and listening keenly for any sounds.

“You can come out now” throwing my hands in the air, “whoever you are”

I stood in a spot, waiting for the faintest sound.

“Ayla Rowan” a girl-like voice called out almost immediately

I froze, jaw clenched and fist balled, I hadn't heard that name in five years but just the sound of it brought back memories. The rejection, the disownment.

I turned around trying to control the urge to tear apart whoever she was.

Average heighted, with pale blue eyes, her brown hair was like Clara's, except they were thicker, longer and more shiny. She looked older than me but not any bit scary, not any bit of a threat.

“Who are you?” I managed to make out

“Ivy Evergreen” she replied casually.

My brows formed a knot like the name was supposed to ring a bell.

“A witch” she then added

Ayla's POVI let the words of the maid sink in, and my knees immediately weakened, but not weakened enough for me not to brush past each and every one of them and made my way down the corridor. And all I could hear pounding in my ears was the frightened voice of the maid and her exact last statement. Oh goddess. Ayla's povThe second she opened the door to me, I saw the startled expression on her face and the way colour had drained from it. Then she said something about a revelation spell before walking away from me. I peeped into the room to find my daughter still laying in the bed, unmoved before turning to me heels after her. “What happened in there, Ivy?" I asked. “We should prepare for the spell." She said, I grabbed her arm. “Can you at least tell me what you saw.. or.. or felt or something?" She looked down at the hand I held and tried to wiggle herself free. "Ayla.. I'd very much appreciate it if you let this go for now and let me focus on what's important.” She flickered her fingers and I suddenly felt a force pulling back. “Ouch." I released her hand to nurse my wrist. She had just indirectly confirmed what I had been on about and yet somehow, I was still the one being treated like I was imagining things.“Great then." Throwing my hands in the air out of frustration as I wa

They were now silver banners dancing in the wind. The moment ivy stepped through the gates, something felt… heavier. There was a heavy gush of wind and it felt tense. She barely had the time to register it when Ayla called out to her, a familiar, soothing but more matured voice. “Ivy!” Ayla yelled as she fastened her pace towards her and threw her arms around her, burying her face into the crook of her neck and ivy did the same. to Ivy, Ayla looked almost the same even though her hair had grown longer and she had the feature of a parent. her eyes seems brighter and her she had increased in size. never in a thousand years would ivy imagine Ayla in floral gowns with her hair braided down to her waist. like she was those character fr

Clara found peace in Ivy's presence and vice versa. “You've been thinking too much,” she murmured, trying to clear her mind about what happened the day before yesterday in her office. “The anniversary is tomorrow." She said, “And?" Clara shrugged lightly. “Well when you have a fiance who's known in six different countries, I guess a little anniversary can get you nervous." “Hmm" she pouted. “nothings going to go wrong, we are just going to get through

Ayla's POVKillian came rushing into the bathroom the second I screamed out his name. The mirror had shattered, its broken pieces littered on the bathroom floor. “What is it? What happened? Are you okay?" His gaze swept across the bathroom and as he carefully came to get me, avoiding all the broken glasses on the floor. I stared at the mirror blankly, my breathing ragged because frankly, I had just seen a ghost. How do I explain that I hadn't simply seen a reflection? I had seen… him.
