(Ivy’s POV)

I crouched down slowly, lowering myself to the boy’s level. His little body was trembling as he hugged the purple teddy bear tight against his chest.

I reached a hand out carefully, but the boy shuffled further back into the cramped cabinet, hiding his face as quiet sobs escaped him.

“Hey… it’s okay,” I whispered softly, trying as much as possible not to scare him. “I won’t hurt you. I promise, I’m not a bad person.”

The boy didn’t look at me, he only pressed his forehead tighter against his knees. My heart clenched seeing him so scared.

“Selene?” Celina’s voice suddenly echoed from the hallway. She stepped inside and froze. “Who are you talking to—” Her eyes widened, and she gasped when she saw the boy.

“Oh my goddess…”

She walked closer, her face pale as she sized the kid up. “Who is he?”

“I think he’s the kid of the luna and alpha here,” I answered, my chest tightening at the thought.
