Hannah’s POV

The next morning, I woke up to the sound of my alarm ringing loudly beside my bed. For a few seconds, I forgot where I was. Then reality hit me.

New school.

New city.

New life.

I slowly sat up and looked around the dorm room. Maya was already awake, fixing her hair in front of the mirror, while Tiffany was still wrapped up in her blanket, sleeping peacefully.

“Good morning, Hannah,” Maya said cheerfully when she noticed me staring.

“Morning,” I replied quietly, rubbing my eyes.

“You look nervous,” she added, turning fully to face me.

I gave a small, shy smile. “Is it that obvious?”

Maya laughed softly. “First day nerves are normal. Trust me, you’ll be fine.”

Just then, Tiffany suddenly groaned from her bed and pulled the blanket over her head.

“Can you people stop talking so early in the morning?” she mumbled dramatically.

Maya rolled her eyes. “It’s already 8 a.m., Tiffany.”

Tiffany slowly sat up, her hair messy and her eyes half-closed. She looked at me and yawned loudly.

“So this is your first official day, huh?” she asked.

I nodded. “Yeah.”

“Well,” she said, stretching her arms, “welcome to survival mode. College can be stressful, but it can also be fun,if you find the right people.”

Her words made me feel a little better.

I got out of bed and started getting ready for my first day of classes. My hands moved slowly as I picked out my clothes,a loose sweater and a long skirt. It was the kind of outfit I always wore. Comfortable. Safe.

As I adjusted my sweater, I noticed Maya watching me carefully.

“You look nice,” she said sincerely.

I blinked in surprise. “Really?”

“Of course,” she replied. “Don’t let anyone make you feel otherwise.”

Tiffany nodded in agreement. “Exactly. Confidence is everything.”

Their encouragement warmed my heart more than they probably realized.

As we walked across campus together, my eyes kept moving from one place to another. Students were everywhere, laughing, talking, and looking confident. I suddenly felt like I didn’t belong there.

Then I heard it.

“Why is she dressed like that?”

“She looks like someone’s aunt,” another girl whispered loudly.

My steps slowed.

The words hit harder than I expected. My chest tightened, and I felt embarrassment creeping up my throat. For a moment, I wanted to disappear.

Maya noticed immediately.

“Hey,” she said gently, touching my arm. “Ignore them.”

Tiffany frowned at the girls before turning back to me.

“People like that are insecure,” she said firmly. “Don’t give them power over you.”

I took a deep breath and forced myself to keep walking.

I had promised myself that this time would be different.

This time, I wouldn’t let people break me.

Zachary’s POV

I leaned against my locker, scrolling through my phone while students walked past me. The hallway was loud, but I barely noticed. Nothing about this place surprised me anymore.

“Party tonight?” Tyler asked, walking up beside me.

“Maybe,” I replied without looking up.

Adrian joined us, grinning. “You always say maybe and then show up late looking like a celebrity.”

I smirked slightly. “That’s because I am one.”

They both laughed.

My phone suddenly vibrated in my hand. I glanced at the screen and immediately felt my mood shift.

Dad.

I sighed quietly before answering.

“Hello?”

“Zachary,” my father’s voice came through, deep and serious. “I hope you’re not wasting time again. Remember, your future depends on discipline.”

My jaw tightened.

“I know,” I replied shortly.

“We’ll talk this weekend,” he continued. “There are important matters regarding the company that you need to understand.”

“Yes, sir,” I said.

The call ended, and I stared at my phone for a few seconds, frustration building inside my chest.

“Let me guess,” Adrian said, folding his arms. “Your father again?”

I nodded.

Tyler shook his head. “Man, that guy never lets you breathe.”

“It’s always about the business,” I muttered. “The company, the expectations, the future. Like my life already belongs to him.”

Adrian leaned against the locker beside me.

“You ever thought about just telling him what you really want?” he asked.

I let out a dry laugh.

“You don’t tell my father things,” I said.

“You obey.”

For a moment, silence settled between us.

Then, as we started walking down the hallway, my eyes briefly caught sight of a girl passing by. She was wearing oversized clothes and walking quietly beside two other girls.

Something about her stood out,not because she was loud, but because she wasn’t.

She looked nervous. Careful. Like she was trying not to be noticed.

I watched her for a second longer than necessary before looking away.

“Who’s that?” Tyler asked casually, noticing my glance.

“Don’t know,” I replied.

And honestly, I didn’t care.

Or at least, that’s what I told myself.

  • The Bully's Redemption     Chapter 28: Game Day

Hannah's POVThe next day was Saturday, and I didn't really have anything to do. Evelyn called and said I could take the day off today because she was taking Madison to her play date with her friends, so I had nothing to do, but I liked it. It was peaceful. And if you're asking why, it's because Tiffany was out with her tech friends — according to her she has a group thing — while Maya was on her phone doing whatever. It was quiet and peaceful until Serena barged into the room like she owned it — well, technically she does — and the first thing she said was —"We are going out." She smiled so hard it brought out the dimples I never even knew she had.I looked at her like she was dumb, then I looked at Maya, then I looked at Serena again."Are you talking to us?" I pointed to me and Maya. She looked around, then looked at me and Maya."Uhm… duh, stupid, of course I'm talking to the both of you." She went straight to my closet.I stood up from my bed to go meet her."Do you mind telling

  • The Bully's Redemption    Chapter 27: The Invitation

Hannah's POVWe didn't hear from Maya until evening, and that was when Tiffany came inside the dorm room with her.To say she looked like a mess was an understatement. The makeup she put on in the morning was already smudged from crying. I've never seen Maya cry before, and I've only stayed here for like a month or two, I think. Serena was in the bathroom, and when she came out she saw Maya, and the first thing she said was —"Woow."Tiffany gave her death glares from beside Maya, but Maya didn't see. Serena composed herself and came to sit on the bean bag."How are you, Maya?" I said.Tiffany led her to her bed and went to the bathroom to freshen up. Maya looked at us."I'm so sorry guys for snapping at you guys in the morning, I just needed time to process everything," she said."It's fine, Maya," I said."Can I ask though, if you don't mind," Serena said.Maya looked like she already knew what she wanted to ask, but still asked her to go on. Serena adjusted herself on the bean bag.

  • The Bully's Redemption     Chapter 26: Things We Don't Talk About

Hannah's PovAfter the whole encounter at Zach's house that night, we came back to my dorm and Serena had said she was staying over because Nia had texted to tell her that her girlfriend was over and she needed some alone time, so that meant Serena had stayed over. That night we didn't even get to finish stepping foot inside the dorm room — Tiffany had bombarded us with questions, and so because I told Serena beforehand that she couldn't say anything to them, she made up with a series of answers from her head that surprisingly even Maya believed. After the whole thing we all went to bed.The next day was a Friday, and luckily for me and Serena our Jurisprudence professor wouldn't be able to come because his wife just gave birth — or at least that's what the class representative said. So basically no class for the day, because normally we would have five hours on that class. To say I was relieved was an understatement. I really can't imagine myself sitting for five hours today. Serena

  • The Bully's Redemption    Chapter 25: The Notebook

Hannah's POVI told myself it wasn't a big deal.Just a notebook.Just going to pick it up.In and out.Simple.That's what I kept repeating to myself the entire morning while pretending to be focused on my reading assignment. But every time I tried to actually read the same sentence would just sit there on the page doing absolutely nothing useful.Serena noticed.Of course she noticed. She was sitting on the edge of my bed with her phone in her hand watching me turn the same page back and forth like it personally offended me."Are you going to tell me what's going on," she said. "Or are you going to keep pretending to read?""I'm reading.""Hannah. You've been on page four for forty minutes."I closed the book. She raised an eyebrow."Zachary texted me yesterday," I said carefully.Serena went very still. Then she sat up straight."I'm sorry. Come again?""He found my notebook. The one from the project meeting. He said I left it at his house."She stared at me."Zachary Reed. Texted

  • The Bully's Redemption    Chapter 24: Small Hours , Loud Thoughts

Hannah's POVThe next day I had to wake up very early — first reason was because I had class, and the second was because Tiffany was screaming her heart out.I woke up to see her on headsets while doing her tech thing, and it was as if she didn't care who heard her or not. It was like hearing a hawk singing, unless with Tiffany it was ten times worse. And the surprising thing was that it didn't wake Maya up — as I looked across the room she was just sleeping like an angel while I was suffering. But after like an hour or so, after I had finished bathing and all, as I came out of the bathroom she was already awake and in the middle of smacking Tiffany with her pillow and Tiffany was trying not to laugh. I looked at the situation and asked the first thing that came out of my mouth."What did she do this time?"Tiffany gasped with her hand on her heart."Oh my God… Hannah!!""What, you might've done something," I said chuckling."She threw her pen at me," Maya said."Well in my defense yo

  • The Bully's Redemption    Chapter 23: Under the Same Roof

Hannah’s POVAbout an hour later, everything had softened.Serena was on the floor with Madison, fully committed to whatever game they had created. Toys everywhere. Laughing. Madison bossing her around like she was the adult. And somehow… Serena didn’t mind.Evelyn and I were on the couch with tea between us, the atmosphere calmer now.Warm.Almost peaceful.Evelyn glanced toward them and smiled lightly.“I like how happy she is with Madison.”I followed her gaze.“She deserves it,” I said quietly. “After everything… I’m glad she’s laughing again.”That made Evelyn pause. She turned to me slightly.“Everything?”I hesitated. Then sighed. So I told her.About Serena’s father.About the call.About how quickly everything changed.Evelyn didn’t interrupt. She just listened. When I finished, she looked thoughtful.“I’m sorry she’s going through that,” she said softly. “But she seems strong.”“She is,” I nodded. “Stronger than she looks.”Evelyn smiled faintly.“I can see that.”Then she t

  • The Bully's Redemption    Chapter 22: The Quiet Before Everything

Hannah’s POVThe next morning felt… lighter. Not because everything was okay. But because Serena was awake. And laughing again. The second she showed up at my door, she didn’t even say good morning—she just hugged me like she hadn’t seen me in years.Tiffany immediately blinked.“Is she possessed?”

  • The Bully's Redemption    Chapter 21: The Things We Don't See

Hannah's POVThe rain started before we even left the driveway.Heavy.Cold.The kind that made the roads blur.Thankfully Serena didn't argue when Adrian offered to drive us.She climbed into the backseat immediately.I followed her.The entire ride was quiet. Not uncomfortable quiet.Sad quiet.T

  • The Bully's Redemption    Chapter 20: The Call

Hannah's POVFive minutes later, the embarrassment had mostly died down.Mostly.Not completely.Because every time I looked anywhere near the staircase, my brain decided to replay what had happened.Which was rude.Very rude.Adrian eventually rescued Serena and me by leading us toward the sitting
