Sirens.

             Those were the voices he thought he heard in his head.

Not the captivating sirens in Greek mythology.

These were the worse versions of them with ugly voices.

The sounds were taking a toll on him.

He wanted to break free but each time he tried opening his eyes, they never did but he kept struggling.

The more the voices sounded closer, the more he was determined to break free of his present state.

He struggled more and tried.

                 Eventually, his eyes began opening but his vision was blurry, the terrible voice was closer now as he realised that there were no longer voices but one voice.
