Two weeks earlier…

A loud sound was heard as the shatters of glasses hit hard on the floor. The security system beeped 10 secs to go, counting slowly and then turned off.

Sloane West gave out a loud shriek as she ordered the rest to come in, they were going to rob the house and take every bit of gems in it. She was careful enough to block all the camera footage from witnessing the atrocities to be done; taking all the luxurious items in the house.

“Careful girls, make sure you don’t trip,” she warned, walking into one of the open rooms, it was like Paradise in there. “Come check this out girls, Mrs. Smith did a great job here, get the bag.”

Mary and Phoebe grabbed their already filled bags and hurried into the room, it was a luxurious one indeed. The chandeliers were like those used in conferences, it’s balls made of sharp diamonds.

“Check it out Phoebe,” Mary implied.

The girls grabbed four stools from the dressing table and arranged it skillfully so Phoebe could get on it.

“Careful,” she whispered, watching Phoebe grab four balls, then six.

“it’s authentic girls. We’re rich baby!”

It didn’t take another minute before the chandelier was empty, while Sloane was getting Phoebe down from the stool, Mary was stealing jewelries from the wardrobe.

The girls were hell of thieves or better raiders.

Sloane, their leader, alerted them to stop, “lets go girls, remember, we’ve got a lot to do.”

“Yes,” they agreed, flinging their bags to rest on their shoulders, they didn’t go through the broken door but through the window, and when they were out, Sloane picked a stick from the garden and threw it hard on the window, hard that the security system came on again.

“In no time the police will be here, let’s go.”

** **** ***

Sloane walked to the coffee maker and turned it off, her hair already dampened by the heat escaping from the engine. She filled two cups and headed to the living room.

A man was sitting there, with his eyes coldly glued to the television set. He wore a nice t shirt, with its first three buttons widely opened and a faded grey Jean. He didn’t wait for her to hand the cup over to him, he just grabbed it from her tight fingers, smiled and sipped.

“It’s okay,” the man said without being asked.

“Yea it is, the best here in Rhode Island, the coffee milk,” Sloane added, wearing a pretty fake smile. The bamboo made window flew open, sending a wave through her hair, it rested on her left eye, she slowly shifted it away, turning to look back at the man.

“I know you have coins with you Sloane, and you’ve refused to pay for the dirty jobs you made us do.”

“C’mon Jack, you know I have no money on me, I promise when I do, I’ll send your share.”

The man snapped, “but you robbed Mrs. Smith’s house lately, I’m so sure you got enough jewelries, I want my share now.”

“Fine, fine,” she said, “I’ll send your share when my girls return, I promise, but for now I don’t need you coming to the shores to visit me, I’ll look for you myself.”

“Why?,” Jack pulled a string of her hair and gave a smirk, “you don’t feel comfortable around me anymore?”

Sloane pushed his hand away, “leave, I’ll send the money,” she walked back into the mini sized kitchen and stared at the coffee maker till she could hear the creak of the door, but it didn’t open just once, someone else had walked in.

“Sloane,” Phoebe called, resting on the window edge, “come out, it’s important.”

Sloane dropped the knife she had picked to attack the intruder and walked into the living room. “You could have almost died,” she frowned, “ what’s so important?”

“We’ve paid all our debts and now that we’ve run bankrupt, I think I have a plan.”

“And that is?” she asked impatiently.

“Get another target far away from Rhode Island.”

“Excuse me that’s dangerous,” she sat down on the stool, “remember the last time we tried it, the police played a smart one on us, it was a narrow escape.”

She was mute.

“I think you should come up with another plan, a better one.”

Phoebe sighed, “but Rhode Islanders aren’t known for crimes, we should go to a larger city and…”

“Phoebe,” Sloane cut in, “this is a place were the rich ones hide their money, our money, if we live then we would have to come up with a plan on what’s next, you know we are hell of thieves, but the US police are no dolls to play with.”

“Hmm!,” she nodded in agreement, “I saw Jack walk out, he didn’t look so good.”

“He came for his money, ten thousand USD.”

“That’s a lot of money for just hiring guys to get the code of Mrs. Smith’s security system.”

“Then why didn’t you do it, if it was that simple?” Sloane attacked calmly. “Go get a new plan, and where’s Mary?”

“She was with me at the park, but went along with Henry”

“The awkward boyfriend?”

“Yea.”

“Just go okay, we’ll talk about it later,” Sloane assured.

Phoebe was adamant, she kept on talking, “we could play a smart one on Mrs. Smith for deceiving us with fake diamonds, we could steal from her guest house here in Rhode.”

She chuckled. “So she could give us beans for rubies? What happened to you the last time how come you couldn’t detect a fake diamond from a real one? Tell me.”

“That’s not the issue, the issue” -she looked at the ceiling- “is how to get all this done, you know what to do Sloane. The right thing to do. It's either we stay here bankrupt or we go out there and steal some coins. You know the right thing." She walked out in rage.

Sloane shrugged as she sat on the sofa. “That was harsh!”

"Hmm, what an interesting discovery," the lady in red muttered again, filling another empty cup with red wine. Her eyes were fixed on a bracelet on the table, the one she had taken, no, stolen from the library, even as she muttered her thoughts out, she couldn't get her eyes off it.She dipped the wine out of the cup in a despicable way. "You know, the girl, Sloane isn't useless, she could be of some help.""How?""Oh Amy," She uttered, it was obvious her mouth was filled with unsaid words as she stared at the maid sitting right in front of her. To her, Sloane wasn't one of her options, she was her only option. "The lady is planning to leave.""You did a great job spying, Demi,"Demi gave out a rude laugh with her eyes following every trail of it. "Did I? I have my ways Amy. Thanks to her.""So what is next?"She smiled, lifting her legs off the table, staring at the bracelet. She walked to it and held it between her fingers. A ten carat diamond br

'Sloane, the thief of her time.'The restaurant wasn't far from her standing point, in fact she could see Rey sitting miles away. He was checking around with the corners of his eyes and when he finally sighted her he gave a hand up to the air.Sloane waved back and headed for the restaurant. Her legs were exceptionally swift as she ran to the door and pushed it open. Rey had already walked to her, helping her to the table he had chosen for them. "Thanks," she managed to say as she gasped for breath."Please have your seat Sloane," he pointe

  • The CEO's Stolen Moments   My long lost Sloane!

Her legs made loud noises as she walked on the wet ground with splashes wetting her hard boot.It was a not too good weather for a woman of her type. The last time she had visited this mansion was twelve years ago when she was still in good terms with Sloane’s father. The citizens had been invited for the wedding between Ray Manchester and Nike Raymond, an extended family to Maxwell Manchester that was the first and last day she had entered the building. From day one she had the feeling that Phoebe knew something about her long lost daughter and the feeling was right, Phoebe was Sloane’s friend. She thought about all this as she made her way to the back of the building, dodging all eyes. But why was she at the back of the building? It was still raining heavily and the tall building was beaten by the unfor

  • The CEO's Stolen Moments   Double trouble

The window to the mini apartment flung open by the wind as the heavy downpour began. The meowing of cats and hooting of the night birds made it even worse to think straight. It was a scary hour in Mission Hills.Phoebe ran to the door of the apartment with hand tucked to her pocket, she knocked on it with the strength left in her after a whole race from nature, finding no excuse to bring the door down if no one answered, but there wouldn’t be a need for that as the door creak came loud in her ears and someone signaled her to come in.With hands still tucked to her pocket, she walked into the lit house.“I’ll help with your coat,” the woman smiled, helping her pull off her jacket. She took it away from her hands and hung it on the wall close to the door. “Please have a sit.”Phoebe smiled and sat in the old couch, with furs on it like that of an unshaven yeti. The apartment was not too bad as she had thought, the lamps were brightly lit like those in scary movies

When Fred woke up, he felt a sense of relief, one he couldn’t place.Drinking to stupor wasn’t a norm but the best relief during the times of pain. He could remember her touch, feeling her breath on his bare chest, but her face was blank. Shit! He shouldn’t have drank to stupor. Two empty bottles of whisky on the floor was an evidence of his carelessness. He wouldn’t be heading to the company today, he would spend some solid time in the library since his annoying father had left for a meeting in New Orleans. The chirping of the birds drew him to the window where he witnesses, again, a clear view of utmost victory, Fremont. A smile was worn on his face seeing beautiful families roam the streets; husbands kissing their wives, turning their little kid’s face away, wives cautioning their husbands to play it cool. Fred smiled. It was a tradition in the family to get married at an early age, he had broken that rule as the oldest ag
