Meanwhile, at Frenado Corporation.

Inside the CEO'S office, Wayne was flipping through some documents when someone barged through the door.

He raised his head in irritation and looked towards the invader.

"Bro!" A young man calmly entered the office.

He had the air of a noble-born, and his compact frame made him look outstanding.

"When did you get back?" Wayne asked disinterestedly as he resumed his previous action.

Dean leisurely strolled around his office as he replied "A few hours ago"

"How did it go?" Wayne turned to Dean who had comfortably settled on the couch.

"A little hurdles here and there, but it ended smoothly." Dean picked an apple then asked "I'm heading out for lunch. Do you want to come along?"

"Sure" Wayne looked at his watch and closed the file in his hand.

With that, they left the office and headed to the underground parking lot.

When they reached the underground parking lot, Dean said "Why don't you come along in my car?"

"Sure" Wayne accepted his offer and got into Dean's car.

With that Dean drove away.

Inside a high class restaurant two young men with distinctive features were led into a private room by the manager of the restaurant.

The manger released a sigh after leading the two men into the private room.

He recalled how frightened he was whilst he led the two men to the private room, one of the two men had a dangerously low and nonchalant attitude as he took elegant steps towards the room.

The manger was afraid of making a single mistake as he led them towards the private room.

The manager felt thankful that the latter didn't have the same temperament as the former or he would be completely dead.

"... and I signed the contract" After her narrating her ordeal, Kaylar heaved a long melancholic sigh before facing Mia.

With her mouth left agape and her eyes almost bulging out from its socket. Mia was shocked.

Initially she thought it would be one out of the many baseless 'I'll fire you from Kaylar's boss.

She didn't expect it would be this big of a deal. It was marriage of all things.

"Have you told aunt about this?" Mia asked carefully.

"No, I don't think I'll tell her about the contract, but I guess Grandpa and Grandma already discussed the marriage it with her."

Thirty minutes later

After settling the bill Kaylar glanced at her watch and said "Mia I have to leave now"

"So soon, why don't you stay longer?" Mia was a bit reluctant to part with her.

"I have to get to the office" Kaylar was a bit downcasted.

"harrumph! Such a shameless man, he dares to present a marriage contract and still treats you like this. What a scumbag"

"You should probably go home and get some rest, trust me you really do" Kaylar let out a low chuckle as she stood up and hanged her bag on her shoulder ready to leave.

"Okay let's leave together then" Mia picked her purse and quickly followed behind Kaylar.

Outside the private room, Kaylar was shocked beyond words could describe.

Facing her was Wayne and his friend who stood at the doorway of the private room opposite theirs.

Why wasn't luck on her side? Kaylar thought silently as she clenched her fist tightly before looking back at them.

"CEO Wayne, Mr Dean" She controlled her eyes from twitching as she greeted mildly.

Wayne nodded in response while Dean waved a hand at her. Dean was an easy going person, a huge contrast to Wayne's personality.

Upon hearing Kaylar's greetings Mia who was behind her looked up instantly with a dissatisfied expression.

Her gaze instantly landed on Dean she threw a rather nasty look at Dean before shifting her gaze to Wayne.

Her gaze wasn't so friendly until…

'woah' she exclaimed silently, who was this handsome hunk? If she heard correctly he was Kaylar's boss.

She quickly sized him up and was impressed by what she saw, he had a nice body physique with long attractive legs, paired with his broad shoulders, his hands were stuffed into the pocket of his trousers.

At least her friend wasn't getting married to an ugly dude, she thought. But that didn't change her opinion about him as her gaze turned hostile.

Dean who stood behind Wayne had a nasty expression as he glared at Mia.

"We have to go to the company together, I didn't bring my car along," Wayne said to no one in particular with a rather cold voice.

Kaylar didn't need anyone to tell her that he was speaking to her, she bid her farewell before turning around to leave with Wayne.

Mia and Dean were left alone in the hallway. The atmosphere was a bit gloomy and intense.

Mia looked at Dean with the side of her eyes feeling too lazy to look at an eye sore and with that she snickered before leaving.

Dean who was usually calm and collected seemed to have been forgotten his senses as he fumed angrily while staring at Mia retreating figure.

Outside the restaurant.

Kaylar followed behind Wayne cautiously, she was literally hanging by a thread at this point.

Wayne stretched out his palms "Your car key."

Kaylar handed her keys to him without thinking, it was only natural that he wouldn't want her to drive.

She got into the car after he did and fastened her seat belt, then the car drove away.

Kaylar's brows furriwed in confusion as Wayne drove along a different route.

He wasn't driving to the office.

She turned to look at him, the question she wanted to ask got stuck in her throat as her gaze landed on Wanye's side profile.

He facial features were relaxed as he drove.

His side profile alone was enough to make her heart stir uncontrollably. She slapped her thigh lightly in an attempt to dismiss the silly feeling in her heart..

She didn't and couldn't have feelings for him. That's what she tried to believe.

Lost in her head, Wayne had pulled up in front of the civil affair bureau.

'Oh no,' Kaylar's heart thumped violently in her chest. She had received enough shock for one day.

"Get down," Wayne said as he got down from the car.

Kaylar got down hesitantly in fear of angrying Wayne.

  • The CEO's secretary    In the midst of chaos

Wayne left Jason's room, his mind in turmoil. The weight of his mother’s venomous words lingered, but he forced himself to focus on the present. As he stepped into the hallway, he called out to the police officers. “Get Meghan out of there,” he ordered, his voice cold and detached. Without waiting for a response, he made his way back to Kaylar’s room. Inside the ward, it was quiet, almost eerily so. Kaylar lay peacefully in her bed, her breathing steady, though her face still showed signs of the ordeal she had endured. Wayne’s mother-in-law was seated beside her, but Wayne could see the exhaustion in her eyes. “You should go home and rest,” Wayne told her gently. She looked at him with a mix of concern and understanding before nodding. “Call me if anything changes,” she said softly before gathering her things and leaving the room. Now it was just Wayne, Kaylar, and Chad, who had just entered the room. Wayne could feel the chaos in his mind, the events of the day overwhelming hi

  • The CEO's secretary    Killed you alongside your father

The hours dragged on in the quiet, sterile corridors of the hospital. Wayne paced back and forth, his mind heavy with worry for Kaylar. When the doors of the emergency room finally swung open, and she was rolled out, Wayne’s heart lurched in his chest. He immediately stood up, his body tensed with anxiety. Kaylar was pale, her eyes closed, and tubes were attached to her, but she was alive. That was all that mattered. Wayne followed the gurney as it was rolled into her ward. He stayed by her side, holding her hand, his eyes never leaving her face. She looked so fragile lying there, a stark contrast to the fierce, determined woman he knew and loved. But as much as he wanted to stay, Chad’s voice interrupted his thoughts. “Wayne,” Chad said softly as he entered the room, his face grim. “Jason’s just been rolled out of the emergency room.”Wayne felt a wave of conflicted emotions wash over him. He glanced back at Kaylar, her mother now sitting beside her, watching over her with the same

  • The CEO's secretary    Stay with me

Before she could protest, Wayne dashed out of the building, his footsteps echoing through the empty corridors as he chased after Jason. The night was cool, the air thick with tension as Wayne sprinted into the darkness, his heart pounding with a mixture of adrenaline and fear. He knew this was the endgame—Jason had to be stopped, no matter the cost.Jason, injured and desperate, limped ahead, the pain in his leg slowing him down. He glanced back, seeing Wayne closing in, and gritted his teeth. He had always prided himself on staying one step ahead, but now he was cornered, his escape routes dwindling. As he stumbled into a nearby alleyway, he knew he had to make a final stand.Wayne burst into the alley just as Jason turned to face him, a gun clutched in his hand. There was no hesitation in Jason’s eyes now—only a cold resolve. Wayne barely had time to react as Jason fired. The bullet grazed Wayne’s shoulder, but he didn’t falter. He fired back, the shot hitting Jason squarely in the

  • The CEO's secretary    Not by a long shot

Kaylar was dragged through the crumbling hallways of the abandoned building, her heels clicking against the dusty concrete. The men holding her were rough, their grip like iron clamps on her arms. She forced herself to stay calm, knowing that the internal tracking device embedded in her skin was still operational. Wayne would come. He had to.Jason’s men shoved her into a large, dimly lit room at the heart of the building. The walls were lined with rusted pipes and broken windows, allowing beams of moonlight to pierce through the darkness. The place reeked of decay, a fitting backdrop for whatever twisted plan Jason had in mind.Jason followed them in, his footsteps echoing ominously as he approached her. His eyes glinted with malicious intent as he looked down at her, bound and vulnerable. “You’re surprisingly calm, Kaylar,” he said, a smirk playing on his lips. “I suppose you’re still holding on to hope that your precious Wayne will come to your rescue.”Kaylar met his gaze, refusi

  • The CEO's secretary    Understand the game

Kaylar stood at the edge of the deserted parking lot, her breath visible in the cool evening air. The location Jason had chosen was far from the city—a quiet, industrial area that seemed abandoned. The sun had dipped below the horizon, leaving only the faint glow of streetlights to cut through the gathering darkness. She checked her watch: 6:10 PM. Her nerves were frayed, but she kept her expression calm, glancing around for any sign of movement. Chad and Wayne were positioned nearby, monitoring her every move through the tracking device and earpiece she had concealed. She whispered into the earpiece, "Everything looks quiet... too quiet."Wayne’s voice crackled in her ear, “Stay alert. If anything seems off, we’re pulling you out.”Kaylar nodded slightly, trying to steady her racing heart. The air was thick with anticipation as she waited, every minute feeling like an eternity. Suddenly, the distant rumble of an engine reached her ears, and she turned to see a car approaching from t

  • The CEO's secretary    Smart enough not to play tricks

The city was bathed in the golden hues of the late afternoon sun, its bustling streets unaware of the turmoil brewing behind the scenes. In a sleek, high-rise office, Jason sat behind his desk, his demeanour as cold and calculating as ever. His mind was focused, not on immediate confrontation, but on a strategy that would create chaos without direct conflict. Jason’s office was immaculate, a testament to his obsessive need for control. The room was filled with the soft hum of air conditioning and the occasional click of his keyboard as he worked on his laptop. A sinister smile played at the corners of his mouth as he prepared for the next phase of his plan. He was interrupted by a knock at the door. One of his trusted operatives entered, carrying a stack of documents. Jason looked up, his eyes narrowing with interest. “Everything is set, sir,” the operative said, placing the documents on the desk. Jason’s gaze flickered over the papers, his smile widening. “Excellent. Let’s proceed
