Josephine knew that she could give up the child or have an abortion, which was certainly a worse solution for her health. When she got out of the tub, the severe headache eased a little and turned into a slight tingling in the back of her head. She refreshed her face with a little moisturizer and soaked the gel below her eyes, and she already felt much better. When she came out of the bathroom in a soft, white robe, she thought Theo was still asleep. But he had been awake for a long time. He was standing next to the tray he had brought from the kitchen, still in the crumpled clothes in which he had lain down last night. In addition to the freshly squeezed orange juice, several plates were lined up on a tray; on one were salty crackers, on the other soft cheese, and on the third hard-boiled eggs.
