Are you sure? You have been looking forward to this for days and now you are not coming?”

Candace asked with a frown on her face which I translated to be concerned

She was right, I had looked forward to this event for days

The Sephora annual event lasted a week and the first day was always the best day

It was the day that we could get to watch the top julliard performers

I had been looking forward to this day for months and he just had to appear and ruin everything, everything that I had planned for

But there was no way out of this, if I missed meeting up with him at the bleachers , he was definitely going to out me and I could not risk that

“Don't worry, I will be very quick about it, you know how Mrs Brady gets when her class is disrupted. I need to inquire about those extra credits to get back on her good side, else there would be no dance rehearsals in my future for a while”

I said , hoping that Candace would not see through my lie

Actually, i knew that she would not see through it. Sometimes I felt guilty that I was always lying to her but I could not risk it

She was the closest person to me and even she could not be allowed to get that close to me.

“I will save a seat for you, just incase you get out early”

She continued with a smile and left with the rest of the girls

I took a huge breath and began walking towards the bleachers once the girls were gone

All I had to do was to make sure that he did not out me, that was all. After today, there would not be any need for us to talk to each other again

I whipped my head around to see him sitting on a seat in the lowest platform of the bleachers

I snapped at him

“Whoa! Don't take a bite out of me “

He said with genuine surprise written in his face

“I'm sorry, let's just get this over with. What do you want from me?”

I asked with a tired sigh

The expression on his face became serious as he walked towards me

“Why are you acting like you do not know me? Like you don't remember that night? Like it was not something worth remembering”

The tone of his voice had changed, and his gaze was heated as he looked at me, taking me back to that night.

Immediately, I cleared my throat

“You can't seriously be asking me that”

I gave him a pointed look, spinning my head to check if anyone was nearby

“Well, I am asking you that and I am damn serious “

The look in his eyes made me understand that there was no way that I was escaping this

I looked at him with confusion

“We both know the only reason that I am here. I am not here because you cannot seem to forget about a one night stand that I have forgotten since it happened that night, I am not here because you are some hotshot hockey player and I am enamoured by you. I am here because I stole from you and if you want it back, I would give it to you, all I ask is that you tell no one”

I conveniently left out the fact that I was lying through my teeth again and that I felt everything he was feeling but I could not risk everything by telling him that

I said in a firm voice

“So please, get over it and forget about it. Okay? I am sorry I stole from you and I am going to do whatever you want to make up for it”

He asked, the corner of his lips lifting into a smirk

“I am not going to kill anyone for you or hide a body, nothing of that sort “

I said immediately before he could get funny ideas

“Okay, be my girlfriend”

He said with a smile, like he had just ordered for pizza or something and like he had not just requested that I become his girlfriend

“Are you mad?”

I let out

“No, I am not. You said you are going to do whatever I want if I keep you secret, that is what I want”

“You can't do that.”

“I can, and I am”

He said with that annoying smirk that I ached to wipe from his face

I said and I turned around and began leaving immediately

“I am going to tell everyone about your little side activity”

My breath hitched

“Sure, do whatever you want, I am going to deny it”

I said, calling his bluff

“Then it is a good thing that I have the security footage from the hotel and a recording of this conversation right?”

I stopped in my tracks and turned around to face him

“That is a lie”

I looked from his eyes to the phone in his hand

I had always prided myself in reading people and from the look on his face, he was dead serious

He basically had something close to a sex tape and a confession of me stealing from him
