BLAKE’S POV

“What?” I’ve never been that confused in my life. “What do you mean by that?”

Tony sighed.

“What do you think I mean by that?”

“It sounds to me like you’re insinuating that Claire likes me, as more than a friend.”

He nodded. That was the most ridiculous thing I had ever heard in my entire life. Claire liked me? How the hell did he even come to that conclusion?

“Tony, I can assure you that that’s not true. Claire’s a lesbian. Last time I checked, I was fully male.”

He chuckled and pointed at me feely. “That’s the same thing I said when I heard it too.”

“Heard it from who?” He ignored my question and went on to say, “Did you know that Claire dated Chris Hampton after the whole catfish fiasco? She never told me that. I thought we were friends but she never told me that. What was the point?” He muttered something else but I didn’t quite hear it. I could see that Tony was one of those people who became delusional when high and conjured up absurd scenarios.

  • The Clay Connection   CHAPTER NINETY-ONE

ANTHONY’S POV“Tony?” His voice was placating as if he was talking to someone who was irrationally angry. My rage was called for. If he had any sense, he’d know that.“You’re not gonna do that,” I said with as much finality in my voice as I could muster. I never did have the kind of authoritarian tone that could end a conversation when I wanted to end it.“Tony, hold on.” Blake grabbed my hand and spun me around before I could make it out of the kitchen.“Blake, there’s nothing more to talk about. You’re not doing that. End of story.”“But she’s willing to put everything that’s happened amongst us behind! Don’t you get? She’s not gonna be mad at you anymore. She’s gonna be your little sister again.”I stared at him incredulously. I tried desperately to find any sign that he was joking or at the very least doubted what he said. The fact that he truly believed that scared me the most.“You’re crazy,” I breathed. He sighed exasperatedly and ran his fingers through his hair. “If she has a

ANTHONY’S POV“What?”I had never seen Blake look so frightened in my life. I could feel the onset of tears building up in my eyes and my heart ached as the weight of the words I spoke earlier settled on me. I won’t lie, I was terrified shitless. As soon as the words came out of my mouth, I wished I could take them back. I didn’t mean it. Hell, if he decided to go on with what he said he wanted to do, I’d be the one to beg him to stay with me. But there was something called pride, and when you have been hurt like I was by the words he spoke, it didn’t matter that I responded in retaliation with vile words. Once those words were out there, there was no taking it back. That’s why, when he looked at me like his world was crumbling before him and I was the author of that destruction, and he asked me with a shaky voice what I had just said, because of the pride in me, and one’s inability to take back the words once they had been uttered, I swallowed the bile that had risen to my throat and

BLAKE’S POV“Please don’t tell me you guys are doing some kinky ass shit on my bed and it went horribly wrong.”“Luke, I’d really appreciate it if you don’t talk through the door right now,” I said as I inspected my boyfriend’s dick for any signs of damage. I couldn’t feel anything on my teeth, thankfully. It was just a graze.“I am so sorry about that Tony.”“Is it alright?” Tony asked. His face had gotten so red and he was shaking a little.“It’s as good as new, my love. Everything’s fine.” I dropped a kiss on him to prove my point and he sagged back down on the bed in relief.“Wanna tell me what the whole question thing concerning you and Claire was about?”“It’s just…I think Claire’s really pretty.” I raised my brow at him amused.“You do?” He nodded and sighed wistfully.“I mean, I don’t usually see girls as pretty. I know they are, but it’s hard for me to see pretty girls and know instantly that they are pretty. But with Claire, I noticed it right away, even though I didn’t want

BLAKE’S POV“Why do you look so startled?” I asked as I pushed passed Luke and Tony to get in. “Didn’t Luke tell you that I’d be coming over?”Tony looked at Luke with his eyes wide as if trying to pass on a message.“I thought you were going to hang out with Claire?” Luke asked as he rushed back into the living room. I made to follow suit, but my boyfriend used his absence as an opportunity to plant a kiss on my lips.“Did you miss me?” I kissed him before he had the chance to respond. A moan escaped from his lips and I deepened our kiss.“Ugh! Gross. Can you guys not make out in front of me?”“You guys were about to play a game. Nice.” My eyes scanned the snacks on the table. There was no sign of Luke’s signature baked dough anywhere. Good. I would hate for Tony to get high when I’m not there.“Why aren’t you with Clare right now?”“Sweetie, you sound like you don’t want me here.” I leaned forward towards him. “The way you kissed me earlier though tells me otherwise.” He turned red

  • The Clay Connection   CHAPTER EIGHTY-SIX

ANTHONY'S POVListening to him talk about his childhood kinda put into perspective why he was such a jerk and an asshole. But, just because a few people bullied him and taunted him for his parents’ choice in a partner didn’t give him the right to transfer his aggression to us. I felt bad for him, I know how cruel kids can be, but that didn’t mean I could accept his behavior.“I messed up, big time. My dads have tried ever since we moved here to spend more time with me, but I’ve been too mad at them and myself to do it. I really care about them. I love them so much, but I hated myself more so I couldn’t give them the chance to get close to me. I hardly invited Blake and Dante over just in case they’d run into them. I had just moved and it was really hard for me to fit in cause I was a recluse and people didn’t like recluse. But Blake, he made everything easier. He introduced me to Dante as his friend and I thought how that had never happened to me before. Then Blake found out that they
