Brielle's POV

I couldn't believe it was him. After all this time I thought he was dead, killed by Chase and his men. I watched him sleep peacefully and my chest wouldn't stop pulsating. Ken suddenly reminded me of a time when everything was easy and simple, a time when my life was mapped out to be spectacular. I ended up ruining that plan when I was given to Chase. My conscience would had been lighter if I didn't drag Ken into my abyss.

“If you keep staring, the workers will find it weird,” Lucien's voice startled me. I turned to see him approaching shirtless with his usual broody self. He pulled me in when he got close enough and smacked my lips with a passionate kiss.

“How is our guest?” He asked as he took a look for himself.

“He is okay, stable but unconscious,” I answered swiftly.

“How is Zane?”

“I have the best neurologist in the pack taking a look at him. Whatever that sick fuck placed in his head is keeping him unconscious,”

“He is scared to wake up, he doesn't want to hurt anyone,” I muttered with a heavy tone. I couldn't begin to fathom what he was going through, a fight that had no chance of winning, truly a horrible one.

“I think __”

“Brielle?” Ken's voice cut in. I turned in shock, watched as he sat back on the bed with painful groans.

“Ken,” I hurried into his arms without thinking. He had wrapped his around me when I realized how swiftly I moved and who I left behind. I could feel Lucien's stare at the back of my head.

“Good afternoon,” Lucien said. Ken was startled by his voice, almost like he didn't realize that there was someone else there the entire time.

“Alpha Lucien,” He remarked as he cowered backwards while Lucien advanced.

“I'm sorry, I didn't recognize you at first glance. I would never ignore Alpha Lucien the butcher,”

“No,” I blurted with a soft laugh.

“He isn't like that. That's just what Chase and his…”

“How did you know I'm not what they say, Brielle?” Lucien asked before I could finish my sentence.

“Don't believe people's words when it comes to brutality,” He said to Ken, who was scared out of his mind.

“That's enough,” I muttered with an unpleasant look. I knew what he was trying to do and it wasn't fair.

“Can you at least give us the room please?”

He hesitated, his gaze piercing into Ken's with such intensity.

“Lucien,” I called for his attention.

“I will be right outside,” He responded under his voice. He took one last glance at Ken before exiting and shutting the room’s door.

“God,” Ken exhaled heavily, his body trembling as he got closer to me.

“I'm sensing that there is something solid between you too,”

“Yes and complicated,” I answered. I grabbed his shivering hands and stared into the eyes of the first man that made me feel love.

“I am really sorry,” I broke down in tears immediately. I couldn't contain the guilt that was eating me up from the inside-out.

“Hey,” He wiped my tears swiftly, his bruised hand brushing against my face.

“Don't weep. Everything I did, I had no regret. I thought I lost you, Brielle,”

“I thought I lost you,” I said. He drew closer, his breath sending a tingling sensation through my body. For a moment, a nostalgic feeling came upon me and the memories I had with him came flooding back.

“Uh…” I muttered, watching as he leaned forward. My muscles suddenly became locked, I couldn't do anything as I felt stuck in my body.

His lips had barely brushed against mine when something in me held him back.

“No,” I groaned, panting heavily like I had lifted a heavy metallic plate.

“Seriously?” He reacted with disbelief.

“I was stuck at your home pack, suffering for being your lover while you enjoy your life here in their fancy mansion and fucking the Alpha of your chosing,”

“Ken…”

“Really, Brielle?” He said. His look froze me, sending a chill through me as guilt weighed on my conscience.

“You couldn't even confirm if I was still alive before you went ahead to be with the guy,”

“He told me you were dead,”

“Did he?” He shot back with a fierce tone. I had never seen such anger from him before.

“Can I have the room to myself for a while? Or should I have to kiss your feet for it since you are fucking the Alpha?”

“That's enough Ken,” I snapped angrily.

“I know I can't pretend to know what you had gone through but you don't know mine as well,”

“Really?” He stood up to his feet and took off his shirt. First glance at it made my heart shatter. His chest was filled with claw marks and lashes, tattoos all over his body in disoriented format.

“The tattoos were for his enjoyment, when he comes to just talk. He draws random tattoos on me to see how best I managed my pain,”

“Ken, I'm so…” He held me back as I attempted to approach him.

“Ken please,”

“I asked for space, what should I do to get it?” He retorted, looking away from me. I could still see his eyes filled up with tears and the guilt swallowed me whole.

I walked out in pain, clenching my fist to hold back the void feeling in my stomach. I walked the hallway with a buzzing sound that slowly drove me crazy while I played what he said to me on loop.

“Hey,” Lucien's voice sounded muffled. I could barely hear him through the ringing in my head.

“Brielle!” He grabbed me firmly.

“Sorry,” I exhaled.

“What happened in there? Something happened, Brielle. Did he say something?” He questioned, holding on to my shivering hands. He was both worried and protective but I didn't need any of those at the moment.

“I don't want you playing guardian, im fine. All he did was state the fact that I left him to suffer while I enjoy the privileges of your hospitality,” I said, a sarcastic smile moving across my face.

“He guilt trapped you, didn't he?”

“I stepped into that trap when I ran away without looking back,” I responded but that didn't change the furious nature of his gaze.

“Lucien, I did this to him. I am the one that caused his suffering, Zane’s suffering and even yours. Just let it go,”

“Let what go? You thought he was dead, Brielle,” He shot back swiftly.

“Hey! Don't eat yourself up for something that was beyond your control,”

“I didn't even mourn him,” I said as I fell into a deeper depressed state.

“Don't let him get into your head!” Lucien blurted furiously.

“That's what they do, they get into your head and make you feel shit and do …”

The pause he gave left me on suspense. He looked around, his head tilted a little to the left. That was his thinking pose, an idea had struck him.

“Lucien? What is it?”

“Son of a bitch!” He growled and headed straight to the quarters.

Lucien,” I called out, but he didn't slow down. He pushed the door open before I could stop him and I was shocked to what I saw.

“No,” I muttered as I stared at the dead guard on the bed. Blood soaked the bed clothing and there was no one around. Ken was gone.

Epilogue Third Person's POV “How are you holding up?” Rio asked Brielle after the council of Alpha that was held in the Eclipse pack. Brielle decided not to attend the meeting because it felt like torture to be around people at the time. “Fine, everyday, a new process and new method of looking forward,” She responded with a smile. Rio's face was covered in slash scars that were still healing. “It's been weeks but I can still feel the tension,” he confessed as he laid his back against a post. “Crescent pack has begun a democratic form of leadership that will be overseen by Eclipse and the Blue Moon. As from now on, they will elect their own leaders,” “You know soon, this method will spread across other packs,” I pointed out. “Looking forward to it,” he replied with a grin. “It surely beats being born into a responsibility you didn't ask for,” “True,” Brielle reacted. “Everything is going fine, I'm free but yet I don't feel free,” He walked to her side and exhaled heavily. “

Brielle's POV“You think anger adds to strength, it doesn't,” Chase's wolf said. I was spooked when I heard it speak, it wasn't possible for a wolf to speak but I knew Chase wasn't a normal alpha like the rest. He had his paws in Lucien, crushing him to the floor. Rio and Zane were holding the rest of the alphas back and Angelina stood by the corner. She was the first one to notice me. “Why are you doing this?” I asked him. They were all shocked to see me on my feet. I held the dagger I had pulled out of my back and a sudden relief came over me. “Impossible,” Chase remarked. “You won't just die,” “No!” Angelina roared. Lucien transformed back and hurried to me. His body was scarred with claw marks and slashes. “How? Where? What's going on?” He was surprised to see me. His hands couldn't let go of mine as tears escaped his eyes. “I'm sorry, I should have protected you,” “I'm here now and we have a job to finish,” I said to him as I wiped his tears. “It's strange seeing you cry

Third Person's POV Everything felt cold, her mind sunk into the darkness and gradually got pulled into a strange void. An occurrence that caused her to gasp suddenly and jolt awake. Brielle woke up in a room, on a bed. She looked around in confusion and fright and realized it was her old room, the one back home in Crescent. She had almost forgotten how it was. “How?” She asked herself, looking around again curiously. She tried flashing back to what she remembered last but it felt blank to her. She remembered being stabbed by a lady called Angelina but it felt like a dream to her. “Sweetheart,” someone pushed open the room's door. She cowered backwards when he stepped in. It was like seeing a ghost and he was a ghost. “Brielle, are you okay? You seem frightened, honey? Is it the nightmares again?” “Dad,” she exhaled heavily, her heart thumping against her chest as she drew closer to her father. “How…how is this possible?” “How is what?” Her dad asked with a perplexed look. “I

Lucien's POV “You fight like a little boy,” Chase remarked as he crushed my windpipe with his boot. I was only able to take down two alphas before they brought me down. I could hear Rio grunting from a distance as he fought against the alpha from the north. The man fought like a beast, moved like a predator stalking its prey. He took Rio by surprise, faster than his size. “I never liked you, Lucien. I told your sister that you are nothing to me and she tried to make your existence somewhat meaningful,” He spoke with pride in his voice as he applied more force on the boot that was against my throat. “Y…you are going to die for that,” I wheezed. The air in my lungs slowly went out but I knew I had to keep fighting, I had to keep Brielle safe, I had to keep my brother safe. It was my responsibility. “I would love to s__” That was the point of his sentence that I heard. My eyes became instantly filled with a buzzing sound that disoriented my entire system. My hands shivered tremendo

Brielle's POV“Where are they?” I asked her. She stood still and slowly, the darkness around began to clear up. It was sucked into a vortex above. That was when I realized that I was in a room with chains and weapons around. “Brielle,* Zane called out behind me. I ran into his arms as he stood by the edge of the room with the Priestess. “How did you get in here?” The priestess asked. “She heard the voices,” Suzie responded as she gently changed into a new pair of shoes. “She could hear the voices of the damned. Maybe because she is part of the damned,” “What is she talking about?” I was curious to know. The look on the priestess face made it scarier to want to know. “Only few people are allowed to hear the other side, listen to what they say, the story they have to say. We call them Whisperers,” The priestess explained as she took a seat next to the fireplace. Her old raggy clothes couldn't hide the fear she felt. “Do you want to tell her?” Suzie referred to the Priestess. “D

Lucien's POV.“I need them here as soon as possible,” I said to the squad leader on the phone. “And General, stay safe,” “Brielle! Damn it!” Rio's voice caught my attention. It was coming from.the dining chambers. I hurried in to meet his hand on her, she was looking almost lifeless. “Rio!” I growled and pulled him away from her. “What the fuck did you do to her?” I held her hand and it was cold as ice. She was mumbling words that I couldn't understand, saying them on repeat as she was glued to the spot she stood. I couldn't move her, it was like moving an unmovable pillar. “She's sucked into wherever they are,” Rio replied as he examined her beside me. “I saw her got called by it. She was drawn to it, they wanted her in there,” “Who is they? You keep saying they, I didn't even know who THEY are,” I retorted. I was falling deeper into the confusion with each glance. I had no idea what to do because both my brother and the priestess that could help were both trapped in wherever
