Brielle’s POV

She matched my glare looking unfazed, Zane stepped in front of me quickly keeping us apart.

"You might want to watch your tongue, Angelina," Zane reacted.

"I said nothing wrong, she does look bad. " she insulted unbothered.

"You will utter your words with respect, she is my brother's mate." Zane urged, i could see his muscles tense when he uttered his words.

"That's not possible ," the woman uttered in disbelief. Her eyes widening as she took steps backwards, obviously lightheaded, "The Moon Goddess only grants one mate to a person. There's no way!"

I kept my face as calm as I could wondering what her relationship with Lucien was. She was really hurt to receive the news.

Her cheeks flushed red, and her hands clenched into fists I could tell how frustrated she was from one glance.

"So mates are replaceable now? Lost one and get yourself a new one? Is that how it is?"

"I don't care what you think," Zane replied with a cold smile. "The fact remains."

"Enough!" Lucien's voice cut through the air, harsh and exhausted. "I don't have the strength for this right now, I almost got devoured by a mountain beast. It's been a long day. I just want to rest."

"But Lucien..." she started, taking a step towards him.

"I said, enough!" Lucien snapped, his tone more desperate than angry now. "Please, just leave me alone."

The woman looked like she'd been slapped. She glared at me one last time before storming off, her heels clicking sharply on the floor. Lucien's shoulders slumped, and without another word, he followed her out of the room.

I watched them go while Zane turned to me with a reassuring smile. "Don't worry about Angelina," he said softly. "She just needs time to process everything."

I nodded, though my mind was still buzzing with questions. "Okay," I said, trying to push the encounter with her out of my mind.

"Let me show you around," Zane offered. "This place can feel like a maze at first."

I followed him through the grand entrance of the estate. The house was stunning, with tall ceilings, elegant chandeliers, and walls adorned with beautiful paintings.

"Wow," I breathed, taking in the sight. "This place is amazing."

Zane chuckled. "Yeah, it's pretty nice."

We walked through the spacious living room, where a large fireplace crackled warmly. The plush furniture looked inviting, and the entire room had a cozy yet luxurious feel.

"It's hard to believe this is my new home," I said, feeling a bit overwhelmed by the grandeur.

Zane smiled kindly. "You'll get used to it. Come on, I'll show you to your room."

We climbed a grand staircase, the steps covered in rich, red carpet. The walls were lined with portraits of Lucien and Zane, I couldn't help but feel a bit intimidated.

"Here we are," Zane said, stopping at a door on the second floor. He pushed it open, revealing a spacious bedroom. The room was beautifully decorated, with a large bed, a sitting area, and tall windows that let in plenty of light.

"This is for me?" I asked, unable to hide my surprise.

"Yep," Zane said with a grin. "All yours. I hope you like it."

"It's perfect," I replied, walking in and taking in every detail. The king size bed under a chandelier and the view from the window was breathtaking, overlooking the estate's lush gardens.

Zane watched me with a thoughtful expression. "I know this is a lot to take in," he said gently. "If you have any questions, just ask."

I turned to him, biting down on my lip to calm my nerves, "I do have one question. Who exactly is Angelina?"

Zane sighed and leaned against the doorframe. "Angelina is Lucien's first mate's twin sister," he responded.

"Splitting image but different at heart,"

"Oh," I said softly, feeling a pang of sadness for her despite what a bitch she was I couldn't help but feel bad. "That must be so hard for her."

"It is," Zane agreed. "Losing her sister was devastating, Lucien had been helping her get through the grief and they have been best friends ever since"

The word best friend still stood out to me because it appeared more than that from my perspective.

"It's tough. But try not to take her anger personally. She's hurting, and sometimes, people lash out when they're in pain."

"I understand," I said quietly, it would be better if I avoided her, it was a huge house and what were the odds of running into her again.

"Well I will let you settle in your room, I'll go get somethings to make you feel at home see you later Brielle " Zane said warmly I responded with a smile and with that he left.

Alone in the big room I decided to explore a bit. I noticed another door and wondered where it led. When I pushed it open, I gasped. Inside was a luxurious bathroom. Marble floors, a deep soaking tub, and elegant fixtures made it look like something out of a magazine.

"I could use a bath," I murmured to myself.

Quickly, I began to undress, eager to slip into the inviting water. I filled the tub and watched as the steam rose, filling the air with warmth. As soon as I sank into the water, a sigh of relief escaped my lips. The bath felt like heaven, easing the tension in my muscles.

Just as I was starting to relax, I heard a knock on the door. My heart skipped a beat. I sat up, water sloshing around me.

"Who is it?" I called out, trying to keep my voice steady.

"It's Zane," came the reply. "Are you alright?"

Panic shot through me. I needed to get out and cover up. Quickly, I climbed out of the tub, water dripping everywhere. I looked around frantically for a towel but couldn't see one.

In my hurry, I slipped on the wet floor, knocking over several bottles and a stack of fluffy towels. The crash echoed in the room, and I landed awkwardly, barely catching myself before hitting the ground.

"Brielle!" Zane yelled, concerned , then he opened the door.

"No, wait!" I yelped in pain, but it was too late.

Zane stepped into the bathroom, his eyes widening as he saw me. I was stark naked, crouched amidst the mess I had made. For a second, we both froze.

"Oh, God, I'm so sorry!" Zane blurted, quickly grabbing a towel and rushing over to cover me.

Before I could even wrap it around myself, the door swung open again. This time, it was Lucien. His eyes flicked from me, still half-wrapped in the towel, to Zane, who was looking just as flustered.

"What the hell is going on here?" Lucien's voice was low and dangerous, his expression darkening as he took in the scene.

"Lucien, it's not what it looks like," Zane muttered, stepping back with his hands up.

Lucien eyes had an undescribable rage that I somehow felt within myself. He stormed out of the room, furiously the door behind him.

"Why is he angry?" I inquired, lost about the reason for his tantrums.

"Isn't it obvious?" Zane replied with heavy deep breath.

"You are his mate,"

I grabbed my towel tighter as the realization set in. He was feeling the same pull of connection I was. I gasped, wondering if he was having thesame thoughts that was haunting my mind.

Lucien's POV“What the hell is going on here?” I asked , my voice conveyed how fast my patience was drifting. I have the chance to avenge Trivia and I wasn't going to waste it, even if the culprit shared the same DNA with her. “Mummy, is this brother bothering you?” The little girl asked , her look for more intimidating by the second. Suddenly an image flashes in my head and I recall where I knew her from. The image was from a memory of playing hide and seek with the little girl in front of me. And that was over two decades ago. “Cut the crap, Suzie!” I growled angrily. I walked to Angelina's bedside because I already knew what her presence meant. Chase was in the building and I wasn't going to let anyone stand before me and my revenge. The blank face on Angelina was intoxicating. She was still keeping up with appearances even after realizing that she was busted. “You know who I am, brother?” She asked, advancing slowly. Her eyes glowing red and her aura getting despicable as she

Lucien's POV “Why did you get out of your room?” I helped her lay back down. Her hands were cold as ice as she shivered uncontrollably. “It seems like you are coming up with a fever. It might be your body reacting to the silver that was once in it,” “Nice,” she scoffed. “An alpha and a caregiver, you are full of surprises. I wonder what else you have in store,” She added with a smile that lightened the mood. “That's pretty much all the gifts I have. And why did you even step out of your room?” “I heard how chaotic it was, so I decided to check it out,” She answered softly. There was no fire in her, it was like she had lost her purpose, her hope. “Rest,” I patted her down. I looked around the room, trying to avoid direct eye contact because of the allegations that I couldn't shake off my mind. I wondered what if, just if they were right. I couldn't tell, I couldn't assume that my oldest friend, the twin of my beloved, would murder her sister. I stepped out after tucking her in,

Brielle's POV“Zane!” Lucien's voice thundered in the hospital as he stormed in. Zane was restrained to a bed, the look he had scared me at first glance. “What is wrong with you?” “Alpha,” A doctor stopped Lucien from moving further. “Your brother appears to be suffering some sort of mental breakdown. So if you don't mind, we will need you to take it easy on him,” “Breakdown?” Lucien reacted. “What's happening to my brother?” He asked the doctors. Their faces explained enough that they had no idea what was wrong with him. “Zane,” I called out softly. He responded to my voice by turning his gaze to me, his eyes were blood red and teary. It carried a mix of emotions that I couldn't describe. Pain, anger, fear, sadness. All of them bubbled inside of him and it hurt me to see him like that. “Just give us time to work,” The doctor ushered us to the waiting room. Lucien was unsettled, looking over his shoulders to his brother. I could feel how worried he was and it was an overwhelmin

Lucien's POV She wouldn't leave his side, his blood all over her outfit as they bagged up the body and placed it in the ambulance. The loud siren sound filled the area and the abandoned company and woods were marked as a crime scene. Since the incident, Zane has been nowhere to be found.Forensics and detectives filled the area soon enough. I was proud that they were using the budget allocated for great use. The law enforcement department took the highest budget that year. A necessary upgrade to ensure peace during this Chase fiasco. “You might want to see this, Alpha,” The Inspector said to me as I waited outside the crime scene. I hesitated to follow her into the warehouse. I didn't want to leave Brielle in such a condition. She still looked shaken, her hands shivered in the blanket and I could feel her fear through our mate bond. “Do I have to come along?” I replied. “The evidence unit is yet to bag them, so it's best you come see them now because they can't be moved,” She said

Lucien's POV “Where is she?” No one could answer my question. Law enforcement had begun going through security footage and interrogating hospital personnel and staff. “I'm sorry brother,” Zane approached me. “I should have known something was wrong. I thought maybe she needed space and I didn't see what was coming next,” I exhaled deeply, letting out the frustration through my breath. “No, it's no one's fault. We are going to get her back,” “Chase might already have her,” He stated the fear that was clearly on both our minds. I suspected it might be him but I remained optimistic, hoping for the best.“Then I will get her back,” I responded. My expression was as cold as the chills that ran through my veins. “I don't care about who but I am certain that I'm not going to let her be anyone's captive. Are you, brother?”The anger in his eyes was visible and he was still going through a lot of pain from his injuries. But that wouldn't stop him, “I will die before I let anything ha

Brielle's POV “You need help, Romero. I can give it to you, I can help,” I muttered out of fear, I couldn't help but quake as he got even nearer. “Help? What do you think I am?” He replied with a distorted expression. The smile on his face sent chills up my spine. “No, I don't need help. I am the one helping alright,” “Just let me go please,” “Stop begging!” He thundered angrily. Stretched out his hands, trying to reach me. “I didn't kidnap you, I just needed to show you the evidence I had gathered so far. I don't want to hurt you,” I was careful, I didn't know the words that might trigger him and I wanted to use that moment to my advantage. “Okay, show me what you brought me here for,” “Alright,” He exhaled heavily with a soft laugh. “I almost thought you were like the others. Come,” He beckoned on me, I drew closer cautiously. Trying to hide the fear that was tearing through my heart. “This is what I'm talking about,” He pulled out a photo that had some sides worn out.
