“You are going to be my event planner!” She exclaimed, and I felt my heart fall into my stomach. She pointed her hands to my face, and I was more bombed by the news of being her event planner than the diamond ring on her finger. She smiled gracefully as she stood to watch my reaction, but I was in awe. “You… You got to be joking Valerie,” I stuttered, as tears of joy ran down my cheeks. “Yes, you. You will be planning my multi-billionaire wedding!” She confirmed, and without thinking, I jumped on her in excitement. Was that the light I was looking for at the end of the tunnel? I was losing all hope, and I had nothing left. My best friend making me her event planner for her upcoming wedding was something I never saw coming. “This means a lot to me, Valerie. I don't know how to appreciate you right now,” I blinked rapidly, trying hard to stop the tears. “I'll be so happy to have you do this, Bella,” she assured, and I hugged her again. It was a cold rush, on a body that has been boiling for a long time. I was so elated that I dished my late father's document. I grabbed my gig book in preparation to plan her wedding. “I'll tag your socials, I want to make a post,” she uttered with a wide grin. “Ouu! That's a big win. Congratulations, once again!” I uttered proudly. This time around, it was from the depth of my heart. “We'll talk, okay?” She replied, getting up from her seat. I was dazzled for a moment, watching outwardly to see what was going to happen. “Are you leaving?” I asked, and I saw her move toward the door. She smirked lightly, and slanted her head, “Yes, I have to be at the office today, remember?” “I just wanted to tell you about the good news in person,” she added, and waved. I was very excited, and I didn't think of a reply before she left. No, I just experienced a miracle. When she left, I was jumping on my toes and whimpering. “Yes! Yes!!” I could say I was close to her experience of getting married and becoming a billionaire’s wife. The excitement was ethereal. My enthusiasm was revived more when I went to my socials, and I was trending along. My followers grew and it never stopped. In a matter of hours, I had lucrative clients coming in to reserve a spot for my services. Who would have thought that my business would bloom in such a way, and in a very short period of time? “Purr!” I whispered to myself in excitement. I started putting together the spots, the event location, the cards, the wedding gown, and the cake. I assigned days and time to go survey them. Late that evening, my account was credited with millions as part pay. I felt on top of the world, and I promised to put my best into it. This happiness reminded me of what took me to the club, and the aftermath. I decided to stay indoors while feeling so elated. Three days later, I felt terribly sick. I was so confused because I'd never felt so horrible. I had to visit the hospital to run a test. So many things went through my mind as I walked into the same hospital where my beloved father died. The checkup was done, and they took a blood sample. “Please ma’am, would you prefer delivery or an online test result?” The nurse asked softly. “Is there any need for that? I am still here for the results,” I replied in a stern voice. “Yes, just in case,” she politely replied, and I got the form and filled in my details. “Thank you ma,” she replied and walked away. While waiting for my results, I was in between thinking it could be from me fainting some weeks ago, or from my depressive stress. Not long after, I got a call. “Bella, you need to be here now!” Valeria wailed over the phone and my heart pounded hearing the tone of her voice. It was cold and filled with agony. “Where?” I asked, fear swallowing me. “My office,” she replied, crying suddenly. The call was aborted, and it felt like my joy had ended. Did her husband-to-be die? Did she find something or get herself in trouble? I had no idea how to answer the questions that roamed my head. Frantically, I knew I was cooked, or maybe not—not being sure made me feel worse. I hurriedly picked a taxi that got me to her office. “I'm calling off my engagement with Alex!” She announced boldly. Her eyes were swollen while she whimpered. “How? Why?” I asked, shaking with an adrenaline rush which gave a knot in my belly. How could such happiness not last? I have already used some part of my half payment to settle the loans. “He's not who he seems to be.” she panicked, and paced around her office. After listening to her for over twenty minutes, I got her point. Her fiancé was notorious, and he went out with a couple of women. “Did you both have a conversation?” I asked, trying so hard to hold her back from making a decision yet. Her happiness was a primary line to my happiness. If everything would end, I would be back to nothing—absolutely nothing. “Bella, it seems you don't understand. If there was a way, believe me, I would have sorted it out!” She replied icily, with a reddened face. My heart pounded so hard in my chest as the pearls of sweat rolled down the side of my face. I totally forgot I was sick because the only thing on my mind was to find a way out. I was at the verge of losing the light I found at the end of the tunnel. “Who is he? What would he do to you?” I muttered silently, but the room was a bit quiet so Valerie heard me. “The affluent egoistical Alex Blackwood, the CEO of the company I work at.” She angrily replied, and I was forced to stay silent for a while. “He's cheating with no remorse. There's no smoke without fire,” her neck bent forward as she sneered. “Cancel everything, right now,” she said as she immediately grabbed her bags to leave. “Valerie?” I called, and she angrily left. I was left alone in my own misery of being extremely disappointed, and now, it's a situation of grace to grass. I had to be reasonable, so I left her to her decision after I went online to see the trends. However, I never got to see his picture. I was already shattered by seeing my socials come to ruins, and the clients who canceled their appointments—everything became worse. I returned home in fear. As I narrowed my eyes to my empty house, the feeling of depression raced around me again. I paced around thinking of a way out of everything, but I found none. My phone suddenly beeped, and just at that moment, the doorbell rang. “Who could that be?” I muttered, as I checked my phone to see an email from the hospital. I let out a deep sigh after I saw it was my test result. I signed and got it. “How fast could it be?” I ripped off the seal while moving indoors. As I ran through the results, my breath hitched and jaw clenched. Floods of tears ran down my cheeks as curse breathed ghosted the air, “ I'm-I’m pregnant?” “Bella, shhh,” I soothed, and fell to the ground in despair.Bella“You are getting married?” Valerie was in the middle of the crowd smiling. She walked towards me and I felt my heart falling into my stomach. “Va-Va,” I tried to mutter a few words, but she interrupted. “ You don't have to be audible right now. I know how hard it could be for you to be doing what you're doing. “What are you doing, Valerie?” I could finally ask. My eyes were covered with tears and I could feel the heaviness of the ring Alex wore on my middle finger.“Congratulations, yeah? I think that's the right thing to say to you right now. You are amazing,” she added, smiling too, with tears in her eyes. When I looked around, I realized I couldn't fumble. I realized that at this point, it was my right to stand against whatever she was going to do. I mean, everyone was watching, and my heart couldn't stop racing. I needed something better to happen. “Move away from my wife!” Alexander's voice was loud and charismatic. He moved towards me and stood in front of me. He was
Bella I wanted what he wanted, because all it reminded me of was the first night we met. The first night he was with me. My heart fluttered as he ran his fingers on my skin as it sent bolting goosebumps all over my body. “Alex…” I paused, catching my breath, “You have to stop.” It didn't sound like I was irritated because the look in his eyes made me want it even more. It was subtle because I couldn't forget the first night we spent together. “I can't,” he replied, pouring the alcohol stench on my face. It was the first time seeing him in his drunk state—he behaved totally differently. The harsh side of him disappeared. My heart was pounding, but I knew by myself I had to make the right decision, no matter how rough it was going to be on me. I didn't want him to get pissed off. “You are drunk,” I uttered, pulling him to myself to get him on the bed. I ended my fantasy so quickly too. I remembered I was pregnant and the father of my unborn child had no idea about its existence.
Bella“You are now my wife, and I would appreciate it if you followed everything I have mentioned.” He replied again. I stood still, like I was frozen because I realized I had signed the contract without reading. I didn't even bother going through what I scribbled my signature on. “When would I get my copy of the contract papers?” I asked coldly, and he turned to me.“And what…what would you need that for?” he asked, ignoring my question. “Tell me if I will get my copy or not…” I retorted fiercely. I had nothing to lose anymore. I didn't read what was on those papers and after placing my signatures, the only favor I could do myself was reading it. He was surprised at my reply. I mean, I looked timid. It almost felt like I could not speak if I had nothing to offer other than the name of being his wife or being called Mrs Blackwood. “You'll get it after the Court marriage tomorrow,” he smirked, taking wide steps towards me. “Court marriage? Valerie… She will find out,” I replied a
Alexander I could be the devil, but I had some conscience in me. For years, no one ever cared if I knew my side of the story because money spoke for me. It bothered me, because I have always wanted to say the truth myself. My passion for women is one, and my loyalty to one is another task entirely. I couldn’t do it until I met Valerie. I could see her flaws each and every time I didn’t have good times with her, but that was not the problem—I fell in love with those flaws. Each time I turned to her best friend with the ring I got for Valerie, it felt like I fed my curiosity.“Have you made your decision yet? You have been quiet since you came here, and that’s not how it works,” I uttered rudely. I tried my best to be nice to her. She was probably doing everything in her might to clear her late father’s debts. She turned and looked at me. I had no emotions to give back so I looked away. “It’s a very important decision and I know you really want the answer, but I need more time…”
Bella My heart flipped like a million coins that were tossed in the air as I walked toward the door. I was overthinking it, but I was ready to take the risk of going to the door. Could it be Valerie? I mean, I tried to make her consider going back to her cheating ex. It was something worth getting angry about, especially if it was coming from her best friend. I took a deep breath and pulled the door handle to myself. To my surprise, there was no one outside. Instead, it was a sealed box with a lock. I was amused, yet afraid. I carefully picked up the box and closed the door. A lot of things crossed my mind, but the only thing that bothered me was the debt. I was so stunned to imagine if it was the letters from the lawyers which would mean me leaving the house. The only place where my childhood memories were embedded. I was scared, and that fed my curiosity. I started checking what it could be. After pulling the sea off the box, I realized that I couldn’t get any information for
Bella“Aren’t you ashamed? You don’t even care about the fact that I’m her best friend!” I wailed angrily. Deep down, all I need was a better route to escape my problems. The offer was indeed golden, but why did it have to come from him? Why did he have to be the one to ask for such a delusional favor?“Are you actually going to give me an answer? Or you’re going to go back with all the baggage of problems waiting for you back at the home you might probably sell?” Alex replied. I was stunned. For a man who has such wealth,I should never have been shocked to know he did a background check on me. “This is hard…” I muttered to myself while holding my abdomen. My unborn child…I was not only trying to pay the loans by being his contract wife, but I was about to give my unborn child a future. I was standing on the edge of a lot, and it was indeed a heavy one for me. “Bella… I need to cover up for myself. I need to save my reputation. You have to pay those loans…” he sounded so true to
