The night after they exited the club.

The man dragged Haven out of the club despite her whining for another drink. He knew better. She was drunk already and he couldn’t risk anything.

The bouncer from earlier noticed them and smiled at the man. “Such a brat.”

The man smirked and replied, “Yup!”

He dragged Haven to his car and made her get inside. Tucking her to the seat belt was one heck of a work. She wiggled and giggled at his struggle.

“What are you doing, woman?” He gritted his teeth, trying to lock the belt.

She giggled and said, “What am I doing? You are the one taking me somewhere.”

He closed the door and moved to the driver’s seat.

While he drove, he watched Haven from his side view. She was fidgeting with her clothes.

“What happened?” he asked, sensing that she might be going through some kind of pain. But he wasn’t sure what pain it was.

“He dumped me,” she replied softly.

“What?”

“He… James cheated on me with that bitch. I saw them having sex in his bedroom when I went to wish him for our anniversary.” Haven began crying loudly. Tears didn’t control themselves now and flew like a waterfall.

“Oh,” the man didn’t know how to console her. He didn’t know what words would soothe her at this moment.

“I loved him so much,”

The man became silent and let her talk it out.

“I had planned a wonderful future for us. Marriage, kids, and growing old together. I loved him more than anything on this earth. He was my world.”

The man thought about what kind of man would break this sweet girl’s heart. She is so innocent and pure. She didn’t know bad things and wouldn’t do anything to hurt her loved ones, anyone could say that. Even a stranger like himself.

“I don’t know what to do now. The only plan I had for life is shattered. I don’t know what to do with life from now. What shall I do?” she ranted, crying real hard.

The man’s hand reached to her face and wiped away her tears that were rolling down on her cheeks.

Haven leaned onto his hand. His touch felt nice and warm. She wiped the rest of her tears.

The man was drunk so he didn’t make any efforts to look for her address. He just drove to his place.

By the time they reached his home, Haven had fallen asleep leaning onto the car window. Sleeping in the car is becoming a habit to her.

He carefully carried her to his bed and laid her there. Removed her heels and placed her purse on the bedside table.

When he was exiting the bed, she held his hand, making him turn back to her.

“Don’t leave me. Please stay.” That pinched his heart. He wondered how much this break up had broken her, she was asking for protection from a stranger like him.

Haven felt the bed dipping beside her, making her aware that the man was getting into the bed with her and not leaving her alone.

He placed his hand below her head and she curled up to his side, placing her head on his chest. He draped his arm around her body and held her close to his chest.

After remembering the last night’s events, Haven was bewildered to know her behavior with that man.

“What happened?” Olivia asked. Haven was snapped back and she looked around her surrounding to make sure her realization was over. They were still in the canteen.

Haven shook her head and informed Olivia she would be going to the restroom and then to her workplace.

Haven stood in front of the mirror in the ladies' restroom. Haven thought the dangerous thing she had done last night. How could she spend an entire night with a stranger!

She was just glad that the man was kind enough to drop her home safely. What would she do if he was a rapist or murderer! Or even worse.

She made a mental note to call him later and thank him for his help. Or even offer a meal to show her gratitude towards him. She now knew he wasn’t a murderer or anything, so it was safe to take him for lunch or dinner.

She washed her hands and lightly fixed her hair and exited the restroom.

The rest of the day at work went fine for Haven. James didn’t make many appearances in her mind, because it was filled with the man from last night. He was handsome indeed. But kind and caring, was a bonus.

After logging out of work, Haven found herself looking for a cab and realized she was yet to receive her car from the club. The man had said he would get it for her in the evening. It’s a good opportunity for Haven to invite him for dinner.

Haven sat in the cab and gave the driver her address. And she pulled her phone out of her purse and looked for his contact.

Haven: Hey!! Haven here. The girl from the club last night.

After a few seconds, she received a reply.

Dom: Hey there. What’s up?

Haven: When will you get my car?

Dom: I thought of swinging by at 8. Is that okay?

Haven: Absolutely. Do you think you can stay for dinner? I’d like to show my gratitude to you for helping me last night and today morning.

Dom: Sure!!! Who says no for free food!! I’ll be there at 8. And I’m a meat lover, just so you know.

There was a smile plastered on Haven’s face all the while she was texting him.

Haven: Don’t worry. I have heard I’m a good chef.

Dom: I can’t wait to check it myself. I’ll be there soon. Cya.

Haven giggled like a teenager texting and making date plans with her crush. Strangely, she also couldn’t wait to see him. She thought of what to cook for him. He specifically mentioned he loves meat. She was thankful she was well versed in cooking. Thanks to all the time she cooked home food for that asshole James.
