Eirlys Lumi,

The silence was so thick that it could be cut by a knife. I froze there, unable to say anything, my fingers slowly curling against my palm whilst George looked like he had seen a ghost. His eyes were slightly widened, his lips parted as if he wanted to speak but couldn't quite find the words.

After a moment of silence, I shifted a bit. The faint creak of the leather couch sounded unusually loud in the room, the sharp sound slicing through the suffocating quiet.

" You are saying—!" I muttered, my brows knitting together as disbelief settled on my face. I leaned forward slightly, staring at him, trying to read his expression. " The Lycan King himself asked me to be his bodyguard?"

My Boss nodded his head slowly, the movement deliberate, looking oddly proud as if he had just delivered the most impressive news in the world.

" You gotta be kidding me!" I scoffed, letting out a breathy laugh that carried no humor. I leaned back against the couch, shaking my head as I dragged a hand through my hair in disbelief. " Does he even know who I am? Does he know that the person he is requesting is an Omega? Not even an Omega He-Wolf but a she-wolf?"

Edward finally leaned into the chair, the leather sighing under his weight. For a brief moment he looked lost, his fingers tapping slowly against the armrest as if weighing every word before speaking.

" Nobody knows that Hunter Violet is an Omega but yes, they've assumed that you are—!"

" I am talking about my client, Boss. The Lycan King, who of course, is someone we can't fool!"

The silence fell once again.

This time George, who had been standing behind me like the loyal assistant he always was, finally moved. The faint sound of his shoes brushing against the carpet broke the quiet as he stepped forward and took his seat next to me. Our expressions unconsciously synced, both of us wearing the same tight frown and skeptical look.

" Violet is right. Also nobody knows that Violet is the youngest daughter of the former state minister. Her identity will be exposed if she works as his bodyguard!"

Edward took a deep breath, the sound heavy in the quiet office. His gaze settled on me, sharp yet confusing, as if he was trying to calculate something behind those eyes.

Then he leaned closer across the desk, his elbows resting against the polished wood, meeting my eyes directly.

" You will be his personal bodyguard. Has to stay next to him 24/7 hours. So we have to expose your identity. Also, this is a direct order from the King. Even higher-ups aren't going to go against him!"

My breath caught in my throat. For a brief moment my chest tightened, the excitement I once felt about this job clashing violently with a strange uneasiness crawling under my skin.

I loved this job. But now I felt—

" Wait a minute!"

The words burst out of me suddenly as I straightened in my seat, my eyes widening as a thought struck me.

George immediately turned his head toward me, his brows furrowing.

" You found a way?" he asked, concern clearly written across his face.

" I think so!"

The corner of my lips slowly curved upward, a dangerous little smile forming as the idea settled in my mind.

" Lay it out!" Edward commanded, leaning back in his chair but keeping his sharp gaze fixed on me.

I took another deep breath, my fingers pressing against my knees as I braced myself for whatever reaction would come next.

" My parents asked me to take my sister's place to be the Luna Queen."

The words left my mouth slowly. As soon as I finished the sentence, I let out a sharp breath, my shoulders loosening slightly as if I had just dropped a heavy weight.

And,

George and Edward shared glances.

Their heads turned toward each other almost instantly, silent communication passing between them.

" They what?"

Both of them asked in unison, though their voices remained controlled. Still, the tension in their expressions was obvious.

" That's right." I shrugged lightly, though a faint bitterness flickered across my face before disappearing. " They want me to sacrifice my life, just to make sure my sister's marriage to His Majesty doesn't risk her life!"

Both of their expressions turned cold instantly.

George's jaw tightened while Edward's brows slowly drew together.

" They still want to use you for your sister's life?"

I shrugged again, though this time the motion felt heavier.

" Isn't it a good idea?"

I leaned back lazily into the couch, resting my elbow on the armrest.

" Also George told me there is a little ignorant who has been killing women in the King's households. I can take that mission as well!"

Once again, the cold silence returned, bringing a suffocating heaviness into the room.

Edward rubbed his forehead slowly, his fingers pressing against his temple as if a headache had suddenly appeared. His eyes drifted down and locked onto the contract lying on the desk.

George leaned forward slightly, grabbing the tablet and scrolling through the mission details he had mentioned earlier.

" How are you going to use it? Both... being Luna Queen and his bodyguard?" George asked, lifting his head to look at me.

" Well, that's interesting!" Edward cut in suddenly, lifting his gaze from the desk. " Because His Majesty never gets close to his Luna candidates. Most of them were abandoned. So she will be fine!"

" That's right."

A cold smirk slowly spread across my lips.

" Although my sister is popular, my parents made sure I wasn't well-known around the people. So we can handle things." I tilted my head slightly. " Also, help me to look slightly different."

" Everything will be handled!" George said immediately.

Then he placed the device carefully on the table with a soft tap. " And I think our previous mission is related to the Luna candidates, Violet!"

My eyes narrowed slightly. A faint chill ran down my spine." What do you mean!?"

I quickly grabbed the phone from the table and checked the details. As my eyes scanned the information, the warmth slowly drained from my face.

My eyes darkened the moment I read the details about the victims. " They were all Luna candidates?"

George nodded slowly.

" Although we have no idea how many candidates have been victims of her, it might help to lift some rumors against His Majesty!"

" How many candidates are there so far? Including the first one?"

I lifted my gaze toward Edward, who had direct connections to the Royal Internal Affairs.

Edward looked reluctant for a moment. His lips pressed together as if debating whether he should say it.

But eventually he sighed. " Around twenty five."

My eyes widened instantly." You are saying he couldn't even accept one of those gorgeous women?"

I leaned back slightly, raising an eyebrow.

" Is he impotent or something?" Their faces turned pale immediately.

George nearly choked on his breath while Edward straightened in his chair.

" What are you saying about His Majesty? This is a crime!"

" Crime?" I scoffed, folding my arms across my chest. " That's dictatorship if we can't judge our leaders for their choices!"

Edward sighed deeply, shaking his head in defeat. " Never winning against you." He muttered before continuing.

" Whatever it is, it's not like he didn't want to have them. A Lycan can't just accept a random mate. Lycans are proud creatures. They search for compatibility!"

Compatibility, he said. I leaned back slowly, my fingers tapping lightly against the couch armrest as my thoughts drifted.

This was the world of Werewolves. Lycans were the royal existence of the ancient hybrid of humans and wolves.

They had the intelligence of humans, sharp and calculating minds, the strength of wolves, and the blessing of the Moon Goddess. Their power was incomparable.

But in the world of Werewolves, who were naturally weaker than a Lycan, his only options were to get over himself or...

Find a hybrid. Or a female Lycan. Otherwise, he might stay mateless forever.

" What are you thinking? Are you willing to take the mission?" Edward asked suddenly, snapping me out of my thoughts.

I blinked once before lifting my head. A slow grin spread across my lips. " Why not?"

I shrugged lightly, excitement slowly creeping into my voice. " I always love adventurous things."

My eyes glinted with a dangerous spark. " Being his bodyguard while also his Luna, isn't it fun?"

Eirlys Lumi, A cold, bone-freezing chill ran down my spine, slow and merciless, as if icy fingers had traced the length of my back. I flinched instinctively, my breath catching in my throat while my heart nearly skipped a beat. The night air around the forest had already been cold, the wind whispering through the tall trees and carrying the damp scent of soil and river water, but the voice that reached me cut through everything like a blade. This was the first time someone's voice had ever made me feel scared. On top of that, his scent drifted through the forest air—heavy, commanding, and thick with authority. It wrapped around me like invisible chains, demanding obedience in a way that made my knees weaken and tremble slightly beneath me. My wolf stirred uneasily inside me, alert and cautious. I hid myself quickly behind the wide trunk of a tree beside a thick bush, pressing my back against the rough bark. Small twigs snapped faintly beneath my shoes as I shifted my weight, but

The sound echoed across the trees, rolling deep into the darkness and bouncing from trunk to trunk. Birds that had been resting in the branches burst into the air in frightened flutters, while small animals hidden in the undergrowth scattered hurriedly through the dry leaves."Let's go," she purred, quickly grabbing my clothes with her jaws before tossing them over her back. We could not risk leaving them behind. Then she ran.The forest rushed past us in a blur of shadows and broken moonlight. Dry leaves cracked sharply beneath her paws while low branches scraped lightly against her fur. The wind had begun to howl more violently now, pushing cold gusts through the trees and rattling the tall pines above us.Moon's white fur shimmered faintly in the darkness as she moved with fluid speed between the trunks, her body gliding through the forest like a pale ghost slipping through the night

As the night stretched on, the meeting for the final preparations finally came to an end. George handed me some baked goods from his wife's bakery to snack on later. I opened the door of my sports car, the metal handle chilled from the sudden drop in temperature. " The wind is weird today!" I whispered, staring at the black cloud gathering in the center of the city.Wrapping my scarf tighter around my neck, I prepared to get inside when I heard the slow, uneven sound of a cane tapping against the pavement.Edward came from behind. He leaned slightly on his cane, pausing as if he needed a moment to steady himself before speaking. The yellow lights of the parking lot reflected faintly on the surface of his car, casting long shadows behind us."Professor Matt called me yesterday!" he said suddenly.I turned toward him. My eyes narrowed instinctively, curiosity and mild suspicion crossing my face."What did he say?"Edward shifted his weight, adjusting his grip on the cane. His expressi

We can't send your sister like this without knowing what happens to the Luna!"So, not only did they believe that His Majesty was dangerous, but they also wanted me to be the scapegoat to understand what happened with the Lunas? In other words, they wanted me to be the sacrifice to make sure Pearl stayed safe.I couldn't breathe, as though I was reliving the cruel childhood where I had to be the one to take all the blame." Why aren't you saying anything? You will help us, right?" My mother's voice was softer now, almost sweeter, closer to the tone she used for Pearl." Why should I?" I replied quietly. " I am not going to be your sacrificial lamb." Saying that, I headed upstairs immediately. My mother's shouting came soon but I didn't turn. Eirlys Lumi,I sat there, stunned. My eyes widened when realization hit me, the muscles around them tightening before I could stop it. For a brief moment I simply stared at them, unmoving. I shifted slightly in my seat, my fingers curling against the armrest as I suddenly noticed the small crack in my composure. Then a short, controlled and icy laughter escaped from me.The sound was sharp in the quiet room."You are joking, right?" I asked, my voice tight as the last trace of laughter left my throat. My lips were still curved, though the smile didn’t reach my eyes. "You, of all people, want me to take your beloved daughter's place and become the Queen of this territory? The one that you have been dreaming of for your golden child?"I laughed again as I spoke, the sound echoing louder this time. My shoulders trembled slightly with each laugh, my head tilting back a little as if the absurdity of it all was simply too much.I meant, how could I not? Those people, my so-called parents,
