Chapter 2

I looked up tiredly and smiled on seeing who Abu was referring to. It was no other person than Samuel. Samuel and I aren't that close, just your typical school course mates who try to at least be friendly towards each other and he's pretty cool, Abu's always claiming that Samuel likes me which is always making me feel weird anytime I'm around him. Today isn't an exemption, I pushed out of my chair and hugged him before saying.

"Samuel!! How many weeks? you should just die in the village and not bother coming back."

I chastened playfully.

"Hey, where's the new phone you said you were gonna show me?" Abu inquired.

"Oh, it's in my bag, let me get it for you."

He replied as he released me from the unwanted hug to bring out the new phone, he bragged about getting a new phone this semester and no one doubted him.

"This is it, yo... my new baby."  He announced as he whipped it out and showcased it for us to see.

"Dayum!" Abu exclaimed as he tried to take to phone to take a closer look.

"Nah ah... no touching, man, just look your fill away."

He chuckled at Abu's scowl before handing the phone to him. I shaked my head, slightly impressed, it's a big phone alright, a phone worth 500,000naira is quite impressive.

"Cool phone, Sam." I wiggled my brows as l turned the phone backwards to look at the camera.

"Whoa, the cameras yo!" We kept on talking around my desk with Samuel leaning on the desk, Abu who doesn't wanna return to his seat took mine, which had me on his laps." Silly arguments occurred between us till the whole class got interrupted by the HOC (head of class).

He's no other person than Toben. Toben is the class head because, well because he's very brilliant, out spoken and a very proud idiot.

I hated his guts and we are always getting into a fight, like we barely get along. I rolled my eyes as we all quietened down to listen to whatever announcement he's here to deliver.

He cleared his throat. The bastard, I scoffed while most of the class laughed, what's funny anyways.

"Oh well." He paused and looked at his phone, before tapping on it for like two minutes.

I hissed at his childishness, coming to address the whole class and pressing your phone at the same time is just meaningless, I know he's doing that just to rile most of us up, me especially.

"Just say whatever you wanted to say instead of just interrupting everyone and saying nothing meaningful."

I spat out, glaring at him. I didn't expect Linda of all roaches to butt her head into my business but she did.

"Miss Fay, can't you just chill for a few minutes, he's clearly reading what he wants to tell us from his phone and you're here bitching again, I'm not even surprised."

She finished her stupid talk and smiled as if she have just said something meaningful. This girl clearly wants to fight, well thankfully I'm not one to back down from a fight.

"Linda! Yeah no 'Miss' for you, what's your problem?" I asked and immediately cut her off on seeing her wanting to reply.

"No, what's your problem? What's your deal? Was I referring to you? If you're so pissed off because I was referring to Toben, it's not my fucking problem, and I wasn't lying, I'm stating facts, he's obviously wasting our time here with his stupid phone." I exploded, my anger having the best of me in a good way.

Stupid Toben just laughed before saying. "Thank you gentle ladies for entertaining us for free if I might add."

Everyone bursted out laughing as I fummed with anger, must everyone in this class laugh at whatever comes out from his mouth?

He continued. "And besides you're obviously wasting everyone's time with your childish bickering. Now y'all listen to what I am about to say." He paused then continued while I kept glaring.

"Our literature lecturer is unable to attend class today because of too much unmarked assignment, so y'all can go do whatever you want to till the next class."

He concluded. I rolled my eyes, all this unnecessary ruckus for that tiny announcement, I scoffed, worse HOC ever, I concluded as I picked up my bag, straightening my gown which had ridden up a few inches.

I made to leave the class immediately, only God knows where Amara is, she only went out to pick an urgent call and hasn't been back since, I'll call her once I leave this stupid class filled with mostly stupid people, with Toben as first place.

Toben cleared his throat again, stopping us all in our tracks again. I rolled my eyes irritatingly as I waited to listen to whatever announcement he hasn't delivered.

"Y'all are also meant to write the attendance to show you waited, oh it's optional, so if you feel like writing it then here it is."  He waved it in the air before putting it down.

"Line up, line up! If you know you are too big to line up kindly go, no one's stopping you." He ended the sentence while looking at me. I snickered. It's easy, I leaned against a desk as everyone rushed to line up.

I looked up from my phone after a few minutes and was surprised for a moment on seeing Amara on the queue. When did she get back? I questioned myself as I walked towards her.

I stopped in front of a glaring Amara who's standing behind Samuel. "Where have you been? You were out for like thirty minutes." I asked a not smiling Amara.

"Aren't you supposed to least call me to know why I was delayed, huh? You're such a shitty friend." She finished, folding her hand.

Oof, I face palmed myself, why didn't I at least call her? I'm a shitty friend.
