Chapter 3

"Amara baby, I'm sorry." I cooed.

"Leave me alone." She snapped but I saw her beautiful smile already tugging her lips which she tried to hide.

"I'll write your psychology notes for you?" I purposed again.

No, definitely not."  She refused again but it's already obvious in her voice that's she's already smiling. I rolled my eyes, she's proving stubborn, typical Amara, let's see if she refuses this.

I'll buy you lunch after class." I purposed and laughed as she jumped on me while chanting.

"Yes! Yes! Yes! I forgive your stupid ass." She said then continued.

"Just don't do shit like that again." She admonished. "I won't." I replied. Oh well, that's solved, now let's just write the stupid attendance and get the fuck out of here.

"Hey, can I stand before you? I'm too tired to stand at the end of the line, pleaseeeeeeeee?" I pleased with a very tall looking guy who's two people away from the attendance sheet, ignoring my already shattered pride.

"Sure, why not." He replied as he shifted a little for me to squeeze myself between him and the dude before us.

"Fay, this isn't right, you should wait for your turn. Lead by example." Toben rudely added and I glared at him without saying anything except scribbling my name down.

Knowing Toben, he can snatch the attendance list from me right now before I even write anything. And as an HOC, he has every right to, so I ignored him and blocked him out.

I wrote my name down along with my matric number quickly before writing Amara's and Abu's own. We do this for each other all the time and knows each other's names and matric numbers off hand.

Dropping the pen down, I glanced towards the top of the sheets and scoffed on seeing Toben's name first, followed by Silas's own. How's that possible? Like he was among the first to leave the class followed by Zoe and Rita. Their names were underneath Silas's too.

I stood up and left the queue while straightening my gown again. I don't even have the strength to figure out how their names got there, I'm too drained to do shit like that. And besides I'm grateful he isn't here again, finally I can breath easily without trying to look pretty while panting.

Oh well. I'll survive.

Leaning against the table in one of our school's canteen. I shook my head at Amara as she lifted a piece of wafers biscuits for me with a questioning gaze. I don't have the strength to chew anything.

She lifted a piece of popcorn in my direction. I looked at the popcorn, then her. When did I ever eat popcorn? Amara and her games, I'm tired. This girl should answer me.

I'm just too lazy to go to the display see through glass and pick whatever I want then pay, hence I asked amara to get me something while I sit and wait for her.

She lifted a pack of chewing gums and I rolled my eyes, hitting the table with my hips as I stood up, heading in her direction before saying.

"My God, Amara! What is it? Just get me one snack! Just one snack and I still have to stress over it."

I snapped at her as I picked up a piece of gala and a bottle of cold Pepsi. Amara just rolled her eyes before saying.

"OK, do I look like your servant or what? I did all those things so that you might as well stand up instead of sitting down there and giving orders, and it worked." She finished explaining, laughing at her own plan.

I rolled my eyes, stuffing my gala into my hand bag as I opened the bottle of Pepsi, before saying.

"Just hurry up Amara, take whatever you want, I'm tired of standing."

"When did you just stand up? You've been sitting down all morning, what's wrong with you? Silas isn't here again, relax, will you!" Amara admonished as she picked up a piece of minimie chinchin, three galas, one fish spicy, one big parle G biscuit, one festo biscuit and two pieces of pure bliss wafers [a bunch of snacks that's totally unnecessary for lunch].

"There, that's all I want for lunch. Remember, you promised to buy me lunch. Now pay up let's head back to class."

Amara said as she went to pick up a bottle of milky way drink.

I looked at her as if I don't know who she is anymore before saying.

"Come, are you mad?" I asked before adding.

"How much thing did me that wants to pay take? Then you came here to take up almost one thousand naira. Wait, it's like I look like a guy to you?" I snapped

"Duh! You look like 'Fay' please, and it's not even up to five hundred naira tho, let me see..." She quickly calculated everything before saying.

"Oh... It's um, not even that much. It's just seven hundred plus naira. Small money." She concluded, sipping from her milky way drink slowly.

I rolled my eyes, Amara can make me angry and laughing in one minute. And she's mad for thinking I'll buy her lunch like her boyfriend. A boyfriend that she doesn't have.

I opened my bag and searched for my jotter, my folded three thousands was placed inside there, this morning before leaving the house. I paid the money, using the change to buy chewing gums and a bottle of drink for Abu, if we don't see each other again today, I'll drink it.

Abu left for their sport practice, we'll see tonight or tomorrow. Silas is also on the team, I'm so tempted to go watch them practice, Abu would be my excuse.

Nah, Rita and Zoe would be there. Worse Toben would be there too, I'll pass.

Amara and I headed out of the canteen, I threw my empty bottle on the floor just outside their big shop.
