5. Threat of Rachel

RACHEL

I had a bad feeling, so we rushed out of the room. And sure enough, Nadlyn was there. She must have heard everything and dropped the drink she was about to give me. Damian was also staring at Nadlyn in silence. I quickly grabbed Nadlyn's hand and led her out of Damian's presence and into her room. Fortunately, there was no one else in the corridor but Nadlyn. But still, if Nadlyn knew, I had to keep her quiet.

"Auh, it hurts." Nadlyn tried to wriggle her hand out of my grip.

My face and jaw hardened, causing Nadlyn to hold her breath. I could tell she was very frightened. "Did you hear everything?" I asked quietly as I approached her and bent down to line up our faces.

Nadlyn looked terrified, she didn't look me in the eye. In fact, she looked away and didn't answer my question.

"Hello, my servant!" I snapped at her, grabbing her pointed chin. "Look at me," I said again.

Nadlyn looked me in the eyes so intently that I could watch her with a small grin. It suddenly made me laugh. Not at anything silly, but I suddenly hated her, even though we had promised to protect each other since she had come with my father.

"Forgive me..." She tried to convey her apology. Is it important that I hear it?

"I shouldn't have been so presumptuous with you." She expressed her heart again. "I promise I'll pretend not to hear it."

"Ahh!" She squealed as I slapped her chin.

"Nadlyn, you shouldn't have pretended not to hear. I hate pretending to be you in front of everyone. You said that to insult me, didn't you?" I was angry, she had clearly insulted me.

"No Lady Rachel, you misunderstand. I didn't mean it like that. Please forgive me, I don't want to offend you." Nadlyn finally bent down in front of me, grabbing my leg and trying to kiss my foot.

"All right, stand up. Then you can be my friend since you don't want to upset me, right?" I said, giving her a sardonic smile.

Nadlyn looked up, her eyes looking at me expectantly as she nodded. "Thank you," she said, sounding sincere.

It was just that I hadn't said everything yet. "But from now on you have to stop being my servant if you want to be my friend," I said firmly, as if I was making a decision for her.

"What?" She mouthed again and I looked away in the other direction. Meanwhile, she stood up as soon as I did. Then she grabbed both my arms.

"What do you mean, Lady Rachel? I am still your servant. Thank you for making me your friend, but I will still serve you." Nadlyn said seriously, looking straight at me.

"If you really didn't know, I wouldn't have made this decision, Nadlyn. I gave you a choice, to remain my servant or to become my friend and stop serving me. With every choice comes the unexpected, and I hope that when you make that choice, you'll have to accept reality. For in this world there is not always good, not always someone who will be in your favour. I said without looking at her.

Nadlyn was silent for a few seconds, I could tell she was holding her breath and maybe she didn't understand what I was saying. I thought she wouldn't say anything, but finally she opened her voice. "I will continue to be your servant as King William commands, Lady Rachel."

AUTHOR'S POV

Damian waited for Rachel in his room. He panicked, but he trusted and relied on Rachel to take care of this. So he let Rachel take Nadlyn to her room. There might be something that Rachel needed to talk to Nadlyn about, now that the two of them finally knew each other.

Kreeek...

As soon as the door to the room opened, Damian turned to see that Rachel had already returned. Her face looked tired, but she still held her chin high, trying to show her strength.

"This is my mighty Queen Lun." I thought to myself.

"What did you say to her servant?" Damian asked, walking over to Rachel and telling her to sit down for a moment.

"I took care of it. Don't worry, she won't tell your secrets because she's my servant," Rachel said in a quiet voice as Damian handed her the drink he had just taken.

"Then please keep an eye on her and make sure no one else knows about this except the three of us." Damian sat down next to Rachel and looked at her face.

When Rachel finished putting her drink on the bedside table beside him, he smiled faintly. "On the condition that I can do whatever I want to him. In the past, before this fact came to light, I pitied him and loved him very much because he had no one in this world. But because everyone can change, I left my comfortable place and so did he, so I hated him. I really want to treat her like my servant, that's the decision".

Damian was speechless, he hadn't expected his wife to be so frightening. But he believed she loved him too, so he would support whatever she wanted to do. Even if Rachel wanted to hurt her friend, Damian didn't care as long as Nadlyn didn't die.

"Do you know what I hate most when I'm not your mate?" Rachel whispered as she put her face close to Damian's ear.

Damian didn't react, his face was flat and he looked at Rachel curiously, waiting for her to say something.

"I don't like to share what's mine with others. Even though you love me, you only want me, but what if your wolf soul only wants her? Remember Damian, if you do it in front of me I will definitely kill her, no matter if you are in pain and have the urge to die too when you lose her, I will be there for you then and I believe you can get through it without her".
