Annalise

My eyes fluttered open, pain shot through my hips.

A groan leaves my lips as I scan my surroundings, my gaze falling on the duvet and the cold marble floor.

No wonder my hips hurt.How did I fall off the bed though?

I yawned before stretching my arms.A smile grazed my lips, Maddox scent lingered in the room.

I got back on my feet and picked up the duvet before throwing it on the bed.

That was empty.

Where is Maddox? I couldn't help but frown and it only deepened when I checked the bathroom, he was not there either.

Scenarios of last night flashed back in my head.I remember clearly the change in his body language.

The guilt, regret and fear radiated from him.He looked vulnerable in that one second, although he was quick to mask it but I had sensed it already.

For a second I thought he was guilty for trying to mark me without my permission but the fear he felt was conveying something else.

I didn't pry him or push him to speak the truth because he clearly wanted space.
