44. This Is Not Goodbye

★ELAINE'S POV★

“You are an asshole!” I spat at his face before rushing back into the infirmary.

The moment my eyes fell on Tania, a wave of emotions swept through me all over again. Her lips had turned stale blue and her face was pale white.

Taking her hands in mine, tears trickled down my cheeks. “Don't worry, Tania. I will take care of you, myself. Just hang in there. You have to be strong for me okay, you have to fight." I breathed. My tears dropped on her face.

I turned to leave to fetch medications myself. But then, I felt Tania hold me back. Instantly, I snapped my head back to her face.

She smiled weakly at me, and I could not stop crying. How can she be smiling in this pitiful condition? I know she's hurting, and I don't expect her to hide it from me.

Her smile widened. “You are so pretty when you cry, Elaine. But I don't like seeing these tears,” she said in a feeble tone.
