Laurette POV

My heart was racing with fear as Bryce glared at me.

This fear had been deeply rooted in me since our first meeting as adults.

It was the inauguration ceremony of Rodriguez Corporation's new CEO, and I was a rookie intern standing at the end of the line, watching him walk in.

He was wearing a well-tailored black suit with a white shirt that highlighted his striking features.

He stood on the stage and gave a speech, and then promptly fired several corrupt senior executives and reported them to the authorities, resulting in their imprisonment.

He was ruthless and decisive in his actions.

After he took office, there was a major reshuffle of the company's management, and it was a time of bloodshed and terror for everyone.

For a long time afterwards, whenever the company's employees mentioned him, they were terrified and referred to him as the "Mr. Unapproachable".

I was also afraid of him.

At this moment, his face was so terrifyingly dark that it was even more frightening than when he was in the courtyard just now.

I lowered my gaze and stared at his perfectly pressed trouser legs.

I thought to myself that no matter when, he was always impeccable and flawless, and the most disheveled person was always me.

"Speak!"

The man's low voice was imposing without anger, and it frightened me so much that my heart was trembling.

I avoided his cold gaze and didn't know what to say for a moment.

Years ago, I had a miscarriage and suffered from excessive bleeding, which injured my uterus.

Later, when I went to the hospital for a check-up, the doctor told me that I might never be able to have children again.

When I returned from the check-up, I planned to tell him about this, but before I could say anything, the angry man forcibly took me.

Bryce stared at me with his deep eyes, which were as blue as the sky, making it impossible to read his thoughts.

My Mother stood beside us, trembling with fear, and cautiously spoke up, "Bryce, Laurette speaks without thinking. She's just trying to anger me... "

"Mother-in-law," Bryce interrupted my Mother forcefully, "I'll take Laurette to the hospital for a check-up first. We'll know if she's trying to anger you after the examination."

After speaking, he grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards the parking lot.

Calista had never seen Bryce angry before, and she was uneasy in her heart.

She wanted to follow and see, but she was also afraid of Bryce's anger.

In front of me, no matter how arrogant she was, she was only relying on the fact that I was her biological daughter.

When she encountered someone who was truly dominant, she immediately turned into a quail.

This was the survival skill she had learned over the years in the wealthy families.

Hesitating, Bryce had already dragged me far away.

He threw me into the passenger seat and drove to a private hospital.

On the way, he gave me one last chance. "It's half an hour from here to the hospital. You can choose to confess and be lenient, or resist and be punished severely."

I turned my head to look out the car window.

The night outside was dark, and the car window was like a shiny mirror, reflecting my anxious face.

What should I say?

Back then, I only mentioned the child who had a miscarriage, and he became furious.

That was the first time I knew how scary he could be when he was angry.

I bit my lip tightly and remained silent.

Bryce's hand holding the steering wheel was covered in bulging veins as time passed.

It wasn't until the red cross of the hospital appeared in front of us that he knew I wouldn't speak.

The car turned into the hospital and screeched to a halt.

Bryce got out of the car, his body wrapped in a frenzy of anger. He pulled me out of the passenger seat and pinched my chin, forcing me to look up at him.

"Laurette, you know the consequences of deceiving me."

I looked into his eyes.

His deep, dark eyes were like two bottomless pools, as if they were going to suck me in and drown me.

I looked away and refused to look at him anymore.

Bryce was amused by my passive resistance. He took a step back and sneered, "Okay, let's see how long you can keep up this act." He grabbed my wrist and dragged me into the hospital.

The private hospital had a full range of equipment, and a series of gynecological examinations were completed in just ten minutes.

In the office of the chief gynecologist, Bryce sat on a chair.

His noble and powerful aura added a sense of oppression to the surroundings.

The chief gynecologist cleared her throat and carefully chose her words, "Mr. Bryce Rodriguez, your wife's previous miscarriage caused her endometrium to become thin, her fallopian tubes to be blocked, and her progesterone levels to be lower than normal due to long-term use of contraceptives.

Therefore...

It will be extremely difficult for her to conceive in the future. You need to be mentally prepared."

Bryce had already guessed the general situation in the car, but he didn't know that my physical condition had deteriorated to this extent.

Even so, I didn't say a word to him.

The chief gynecologist saw that he was not speaking, and the continuously decreasing air pressure made her feel cold and shiver.

She tried to speak, and heard the man in front of her ask, "When did she find out?"

The chief gynecologist was stunned for a moment.

She searched my medical records on the computer and said, "About four and a half years ago, when she came for a follow-up examination."

At the words, Bryce's cold and stern face suddenly became stormy.

I had hidden it from him for four and a half years.

Whenever he thought of the contraceptives he had given me during those four and a half years, he thought he was humiliating me.

In fact, it had become a humiliation to himself.

What was I thinking about him at that time?

The chief gynecologist saw his terrifying expression and hesitated for a moment before saying, "In addition, we found that Mrs. Laurette is allergic to contraceptives during the examination just now." Bryce's breath hitched.

The chief gynecologist's words were like a steel needle piercing his throat.

Under the strong dull pain, he felt his vision darken and his breathing became difficult.

Bryce stood in front of Carlson with an attitude of ruling the world, naturally not missing the joy on the young man's face. He didn't admit that he was a little jealous, arrogantly nodded his head, and then walked past him into the director's office. Seeing Laurette's smile that hadn't disappeared from the corner of her mouth, he frowned and said, "Don't laugh at others for no reason." She could put on a stern face at home, but she smiled brightly when she came out. Was he a ferocious beast that would devour people? When Laurette's saw him, her smile froze on her face. She said lightly, "Is my smile bothering you?" His original intention was that she looked too good when she smiled, and he was afraid that someone like Carlson wouldn't be able to resist her charm. If he had any other thoughts about her, it would be troublesome. But being retorted by Laurette, he couldn't come up with a response. His face was even more terrifying than a thunderstorm. "Laurett

Laurette's mind exploded with fireworks. Just as she was about to push him away, Bryce bit her lips hard. "Hiss..." Laurette sucked in a breath of cold air in pain. She glared at the culprit and was handed a bowl of medicine. "It's bitter. Take the bowl and wash it." Was he a devil? Laurette carried the bowl and walked to the kitchen, feeling annoyed. After a few steps, she suddenly realized that she had just been forcefully kissed by Bryce. She turned back to look at him. The man was wiping his hair with a towel and Swaggered into the bedroom. Laurette was speechless. She walked into the kitchen and stood by the sink, washing the bowl absentmindedly. As she washed, she drifted off into her thoughts. They had just kissed, and although his sharp tongue often spat hurtful words, his lips were surprisingly soft. Unconsciously, she stuck out her tongue and licked her lips, only to immediately furrow her brows in disgust. "It's bitter." Laurette returned

Five years ago at this time was a delicate moment, and Bryce couldn't help but think more about it. Looking at Laurette's eyes at this moment, it was as if there was a flame of expectation burning within them. Laurette pushed him, but he didn't move. There were footsteps passing by outside the door, and Laurette heard Beatrice's voice. She turned her head and remembered what Irene had said earlier about her first kiss in high school. Her heart felt sour, and she spoke with a bit of sarcasm, "Some people had their first kiss in high school while in a relationship. I wonder who was so lucky." Bryce was stunned, but a smile gradually filled his eyes. He raised his hand and pinched her chin, looking down at her sour and jealous face with increasing joy. "Laurette," Bryce suddenly called out her name. Bryce squinted her eyes and waited for him to continue. Bryce leaned in close to her ear and whispered, "The way you are now, I would think you're jealous." He said

Smith Kane sat next to them, feeling a certain atmosphere that no outsider could penetrate. He saw Bryce gazing at Laurette like a madman and covered his face with his hand. He couldn't bear to watch. Others noticed it too, and they all looked at Irene with sympathetic eyes. Irene was so angry that she almost bit her teeth off. Beatrice, who was a die-hard fan of Irene, stood up and suggested, "Drinking like this is boring. Why don't we play Truth or Dare?" Laurette raised an eyebrow. Truth or Dare, isn't that just causing trouble? After everyone had eaten, they moved to the sofa on the side and sat in a circle. After changing seats, Irene squeezed next to Bryce and looked at him with a slightly drunk expression. She said softly, "Bryce, are you okay?" Bryce nodded to indicate that he was fine. Irene said, "l'll pour you a cup of tea. Tea can relieve the effects of alcohol and make you feel better." Laurette sat on the other side of Bryce and heard this. Sh

Laurette stared at the man in front of her, and she had to admit that he was really good-looking. He had a pair of peach blossom eyes that contained autumn waves, with upturned corners, and a charming shape. His facial features were handsome and straight, and upon closer inspection, he even had a pointed chin. He usually had a strong aura, and few people dared to look directly at his face. Even Laurette only realized it today, and she shook her head to clear her mind. Bryce let go of her and stood up straight, adjusting his collar. "Get up, let's go." Laurette picked up her bag and stood up. The dinner was ruined by him, and she didn't need to stay here anymore. She followed Bryce out of the private room. The corridor was very quiet, with autumn maple leaves painted by a painter on both sides of the walls. The artistic conception was beautiful, like strolling in the autumn scenery, very romantic. Laurette followed closely behind him and noticed that he w

Laurette stood up. "Our business is done here, Miss Irene can leave now, " she said. Irene was furious and stormed out of the room. Shortly after, Carlson came in with some files and saw Laurette rubbing her temples. "Director Laurette, did you have another argument with Miss Irene?" he asked. Laurette lowered her arms. "It's nothing. Give me the files," she said. Carlson handed her the files and followed her to her desk. "Director Laurette, I've arranged a dinner with the PR director of Elite's tonight at Tasty Pavilion at 7 pm, " he said. Laurette remembered that before falling ill, he had to meet with Director to change their spokesperson. Her illness had delayed the process. "Okay," she said. "Also..."
