Laurette POV

With a loud bang, lightning flashed and thunder roared outside the window, and the pouring rain came down heavily.

I curled up on the sickbed, my stomach spasming, my eyelashes trembling, and at this moment, Bryce probably already knew the truth.

How would he deal with me?

Would he divorce me?

The word "divorce" slipped through my mind, and my stomach hurt even more.

Actually, it would be better if we divorced. We wouldn't have to torture each other anymore.

For both of us, it would be a relief.

"Bang!"

The door of the ward was violently kicked open, and I opened my eyes in shock, seeing a tall figure with thunderous anger stepping into the ward.

At this moment, his eyes were dark and fierce, like a devil, particularly terrifying.

I was very frightened, and crawled off the bed in a panic, but because I was too hasty, I ended up rolling off the bed with the blanket.

With a "plop," not only was I stunned, but even Bryce was stunned.

He stood still, his face darkening, watching me desperately struggling in the blanket, my cheeks turning red with anxiety.

He was slow to realize that I was actually so afraid of him.

His heart felt like it had been tugged by something, and he slowly walked over, stopping beside me.

He leaned down to pick me up, but I misunderstood and thought he was going to hit me.

I pulled the blanket over my head, trembling with fear, and my frightened voice came from under the blanket, "Don't hit me."

Bryce froze for a moment, almost laughing out loud.

When did he become a woman-beating villain in my eyes?

He suppressed his anger and lifted me up from the ground, placing me gently on the hospital bed.

He pulled a chair up to the bedside and sat down.

I hesitated under the covers for a moment before carefully peeking out, like a newly hatched chick, full of fear for the unknown world outside.

When I met Bryce's cold gaze, I shrank back into the covers, lowering my eyes in fear.

Bryce chuckled, realizing that he had been blindly arrogant before, thinking that my fear of him was born out of love.

Now he realized that I was simply afraid of him.

A sharp pain spread from his heart to every corner of his body, making his fingers tremble.

He reached for his cigarette case but didn't take one out.

"Why didn't you say anything?" he asked.

I clenched the corners of the blanket so tightly that my fingertips turned white.

He knew, and now it was time to settle accounts with me?

I knew this day would come sooner or later, but I didn't expect it to come so soon.

I sat up in bed and spoke slowly, "I wanted to tell you on the day of the follow-up examination, but you didn't give me a chance."

It was raining heavily that day, just like today.

When I returned to the villa, the servant told me that Bryce was in the baby's room upstairs.

I went to find him and found the room in ruins, with the crib and rocking horse smashed to pieces.

Bryce sat against the wall, like a male lion who had lost his cub, desolate and sad.

I knew that he had sincerely looked forward to the arrival of this child, even if he didn't love me, he loved the child in my belly.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have married me, who was as lowly as dirt, just to give this child a complete home.

I stood at the door for a long time before gathering the courage to walk in.

I knelt in front of him and hesitated for a moment before speaking, "I went to the hospital for a check-up today, and the results weren't good. In the future, I'm afraid... We got married because of the child, but now that the child is gone, if you want a divorce, I won't object."

He was suddenly provoked by something I said, and Bryce erupted in anger, pushing me to the ground.

His strong body pressed down on me, his eyes burning with intense hatred.

"Divorce? Laurette, what do you take me for?"

"I don't..."

To me, Bryce was an unattainable god.

I respected and feared him, but never dared to disrespect him.

Bryce stared at me, his hatred so deep and heavy that it seemed like he wanted to tear me apart alive.

Suddenly, he leaned down and bit my throat. "Laurette, I really want to kill you!" The same words brought me back to reality from my memories.

I couldn't help but shiver, and then I heard Bryce continue, "You've made me a laughingstock these past few years."

My heart tightened, and tears streamed down my face.

"I'm sorry."

Bryce stared at me for a moment, then suddenly found it funny and laughed, but his laughter was filled with thick sadness.

"I'm so noble, yet I need a victim like you to apologize to me." My heart felt like it was being stabbed with needles, and a dense pain spread throughout my body.

My tears fell even faster.

"I'm sorry. I messed up your life back then. If you want to..."

"Shut up!" Bryce suddenly interrupted me with a stern voice.

"I've told you, unless I bring it up myself, you'll never have the right to mention those two words."

I looked up in surprise.

"You.."

Bryce looked angry and embarrassed, and spoke forcefully, "You know about this, and if you dare to let a third person know, try it!"

My heart was in turmoil.

He knew, but he didn't want a divorce.

I couldn't understand what he was thinking.

"Why?" Bryce looked into my eyes, remembering when he returned to take over the Rodriguez Group.

At first, he was ruthless, and everyone feared him.

Wherever he went, it was dead silent.

Only I was the bright spot in this earthly hell.

My face always carried a pure smile, and my eyes were full of bright light.

Since when did I stop smiling and lose the light in my eyes?

He leaned over, pinching my chin, and spoke slowly like a venomous snake, "Laurette, you betrayed me. I want you to stay by my side for the rest of your life and atone for your mistake." This was the sin I had to atone for, for him and for our unborn child.

Bryce stood in front of Carlson with an attitude of ruling the world, naturally not missing the joy on the young man's face. He didn't admit that he was a little jealous, arrogantly nodded his head, and then walked past him into the director's office. Seeing Laurette's smile that hadn't disappeared from the corner of her mouth, he frowned and said, "Don't laugh at others for no reason." She could put on a stern face at home, but she smiled brightly when she came out. Was he a ferocious beast that would devour people? When Laurette's saw him, her smile froze on her face. She said lightly, "Is my smile bothering you?" His original intention was that she looked too good when she smiled, and he was afraid that someone like Carlson wouldn't be able to resist her charm. If he had any other thoughts about her, it would be troublesome. But being retorted by Laurette, he couldn't come up with a response. His face was even more terrifying than a thunderstorm. "Laurett

Laurette's mind exploded with fireworks. Just as she was about to push him away, Bryce bit her lips hard. "Hiss..." Laurette sucked in a breath of cold air in pain. She glared at the culprit and was handed a bowl of medicine. "It's bitter. Take the bowl and wash it." Was he a devil? Laurette carried the bowl and walked to the kitchen, feeling annoyed. After a few steps, she suddenly realized that she had just been forcefully kissed by Bryce. She turned back to look at him. The man was wiping his hair with a towel and Swaggered into the bedroom. Laurette was speechless. She walked into the kitchen and stood by the sink, washing the bowl absentmindedly. As she washed, she drifted off into her thoughts. They had just kissed, and although his sharp tongue often spat hurtful words, his lips were surprisingly soft. Unconsciously, she stuck out her tongue and licked her lips, only to immediately furrow her brows in disgust. "It's bitter." Laurette returned

Five years ago at this time was a delicate moment, and Bryce couldn't help but think more about it. Looking at Laurette's eyes at this moment, it was as if there was a flame of expectation burning within them. Laurette pushed him, but he didn't move. There were footsteps passing by outside the door, and Laurette heard Beatrice's voice. She turned her head and remembered what Irene had said earlier about her first kiss in high school. Her heart felt sour, and she spoke with a bit of sarcasm, "Some people had their first kiss in high school while in a relationship. I wonder who was so lucky." Bryce was stunned, but a smile gradually filled his eyes. He raised his hand and pinched her chin, looking down at her sour and jealous face with increasing joy. "Laurette," Bryce suddenly called out her name. Bryce squinted her eyes and waited for him to continue. Bryce leaned in close to her ear and whispered, "The way you are now, I would think you're jealous." He said

Smith Kane sat next to them, feeling a certain atmosphere that no outsider could penetrate. He saw Bryce gazing at Laurette like a madman and covered his face with his hand. He couldn't bear to watch. Others noticed it too, and they all looked at Irene with sympathetic eyes. Irene was so angry that she almost bit her teeth off. Beatrice, who was a die-hard fan of Irene, stood up and suggested, "Drinking like this is boring. Why don't we play Truth or Dare?" Laurette raised an eyebrow. Truth or Dare, isn't that just causing trouble? After everyone had eaten, they moved to the sofa on the side and sat in a circle. After changing seats, Irene squeezed next to Bryce and looked at him with a slightly drunk expression. She said softly, "Bryce, are you okay?" Bryce nodded to indicate that he was fine. Irene said, "l'll pour you a cup of tea. Tea can relieve the effects of alcohol and make you feel better." Laurette sat on the other side of Bryce and heard this. Sh

Laurette stared at the man in front of her, and she had to admit that he was really good-looking. He had a pair of peach blossom eyes that contained autumn waves, with upturned corners, and a charming shape. His facial features were handsome and straight, and upon closer inspection, he even had a pointed chin. He usually had a strong aura, and few people dared to look directly at his face. Even Laurette only realized it today, and she shook her head to clear her mind. Bryce let go of her and stood up straight, adjusting his collar. "Get up, let's go." Laurette picked up her bag and stood up. The dinner was ruined by him, and she didn't need to stay here anymore. She followed Bryce out of the private room. The corridor was very quiet, with autumn maple leaves painted by a painter on both sides of the walls. The artistic conception was beautiful, like strolling in the autumn scenery, very romantic. Laurette followed closely behind him and noticed that he w

Irene suspected that Laurette was scheming against her, and she had evidence. "Director Laurette, even if l lose in a verbal argument, what does it matter? Bryce loves me," she said. Laurette stood up. "Our business is done here, Miss Irene can leave now, " she said. Irene was furious and stormed out of the room. Shortly after, Carlson came in with some files and saw Laurette rubbing her temples. "Director Laurette, did you have another argument with Miss Irene?" he asked. Laurette lowered her arms. "It's nothing. Give me the files," she said. Carlson handed her the files and followed her to her desk. "Director Laurette, I've arranged a dinner with the PR director of Elite's tonight at Tasty Pavilion at 7 pm, " he said. Laurette remembered that before falling ill, he had to meet with Director to change their spokesperson. Her illness had delayed the process. "Okay," she said. "Also..." Carlson reported an hour's worth of work progress. After he left, Lau
