Laurette POV

Leaving the hospital, I sat in the passenger seat without saying a word.

I wasn't actually a person who spoke little, but when I was with Bryce Rodriguez, I often didn't know what to say.

It seemed like everything I said, except for work-related matters, was wrong.

The phone rang, and Bryce answered it.

I didn't know what the other person said, but he responded with a flat "Hmm" before hanging up.

Then, he turned the steering wheel and parked the car at the entrance of the elevated highway.

He spoke coldly, "Take a cab back by yourself."

I looked at the busy traffic on the elevated bridge and then glanced down at my torn dress.

"This is the elevated highway, and my dress is torn."

"So what?" Bryce's voice was devoid of any emotion, cold and heartless.

I stared at him for a few seconds, then silently opened the door and got out of the car.

As soon as I closed the door, the black Maybach eagerly sped away and disappeared into the night in the blink of an eye.

It was late at night, but fortunately, the rain wasn't heavy.

It fell on my face like soft fur.

I wrapped my suit jacket tightly around myself and slowly walked forward along the green belt.

Cars whizzed past me, performing a life-and-death race within a distance of less than half a meter from me.

I hadn't walked far when my phone vibrated incessantly in my bag.

I stopped and answered the call.

"Laurette, have you received the test results?" My mother spoke without any signs of exhaustion.

I impatiently interrupted her, "Even if I take the test ten thousand times, the result will still be the same. I won't be able to have my own child again." This news was undoubtedly a bolt from the blue for my mother.

She was stunned for a moment, and her voice changed, "Wha-what do you mean you won't be able to have one? Didn't you get pregnant before?"

I looked at the speeding cars in front of me, my eyes sour, "I had a miscarriage."

I stood still for a moment, my phone buzzing in my bag.

I didn't answer and continued walking forward.

I got off the overpass and ahead was the most luxurious commercial district in the city.

The exterior of the Galaxy Center was adorned with a giant LED display screen, which was currently playing clips from the Phoenix International Piano Competition.

I stood in the center of the square, looking up at the woman sitting in front of the piano on the big Screen.

She wore a red evening gown, her hair tied up, revealing a graceful neck.

Her slender fingers slid across the keys, and the dense sound of the piano flowed out, echoing in the empty square.

The rhythm became faster and the emotions more intense, making the listener's heart surge with excitement.

The camera slowly zoomed in, and a familiar yet unfamiliar face appeared on the big screen.

"It's her," my heart tightened.

"Irene!"

Irene was Bryce's first love and also the goddess of the Royal Crest University.

During her time at the university, she became the white moonlight in the hearts of countless male students.

At this moment, Irene was shining brightly in front of the camera, wearing a fiery red dress that seemed to be burning.

The applause thundered below, and her performance was a great success.

Suddenly, the camera swept towards the audience, and in the first row behind the judges' seat, there sat a tall and slender man in formal attire, his eyes focused and passionately staring at the stage.

If it wasn't Bryce, then who could it be?

The rain suddenly became heavier, blurring my vision, and I shivered with cold.

The Phoenix International Piano Competition was held every five years in the capital of France, Paris.

Half a month ago, Bryce went to Paris alone.

It turned out that he went to see Irene.

I returned to my apartment, took a hot shower, curled up in bed, and fell into a deep sleep.

The next day, I frowned and woke up from my sleep.

I opened my phone and looked at the time.

It was already 6:30 am.

I instinctively reached out to push the man next to me, but my hand fell empty.

I sat up suddenly, turned on the light, and saw that the bed next to me was as clean as new.

I realized that Bryce had not returned all night.

It was hard for me to adapt.

In the past five years, unless Bryce was on a business trip, he never stayed out all night.

I sat there in a daze for a while, then went to the bathroom expressionlessly to wash up, and then went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for myself.

After finishing breakfast, I walked to the company.

Just as I arrived at the company's entrance, a black Maybach stopped in front of me, and the rear door was pushed open from the inside.

A man with no expression on his face got out of the car.

He was still wearing the same outfit he wore to the banquet yesterday, with a wrinkled shirt, and who knows where he had been fooling around all night.

Bryce was nearly two meters tall and exuded a sense of pressure all over his body.

Not to mention his thin lips and peach blossom eyes, even if he kept a straight face all day, he still looked like a charming and unfeeling man.

He walked past me without looking at me, as if I didn't exist at all.

I took a deep breath and hurriedly followed him.

After entering the CEO's exclusive elevator, I secretly glanced at his handsome face, and said, "Um... I'm not trying to control you, but you didn't come back last night.."

"What, do I need to report my itinerary to Secretary Laurette now?" Bryce's face turned slightly cold.

I pursed my lips and silently swallowed the second half of my sentence.

I knew I shouldn't have said anything.

Look, I had brought this upon myself.

Bryce was angry at my pitiful appearance, and he tugged at his tie, feeling his anger rising.

"Who are you making that face for? Someone who doesn't know any better would think you're really suffering."

I sighed in my heart.

I knew that when he was unhappy, no matter what I did, it was wrong.

"I'm not."

Bryce sneered and laughed, "NOBLE Entertainment is currently short of staff. You can pack up and go report there now. You don't have to follow me anymore."

My heart trembled and I looked up at him, "You want me to go to NOBLE Entertainment?"

NOBLE Entertainment was a kingdom of entertainment created by Bryce himself for Irene.

After half a year of planning and preparation, it will officially open at the end of the month.

Last night, after I went back, I searched for a lot of news about Irene and knew that she was about to return to the country.

Bryce's decision to transfer me away from him at this time was probably to make room for his first love.

"What, you're not happy?"

Bryce leaned forward slightly, "Or do you just want to stay by my side, waiting to be...!"

He almost whispered the last word in my ear, vulgar and obscene.

Knowing that he was humiliating me again, my heart couldn't help but skip a beat.

I pursed my lips and took a step back, "Okay, I'll go."

Seeing that I agreed so readily, Bryce's face didn't look any better.

He strode out of the elevator.

Along the way, everyone politely greeted him.

He walked away with a cold face, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

My personnel transfer order came down quickly.

Sandra, who was also a secretary, approached me and saw me packing up, "Laurette, why did the personnel transfer order come so suddenly? Did you offend President Bryce?"

Sandra was one of the few people who knew about my private relationship with Bryce Rodriguez.

During the day, I was the chief secretary of the Rodriguez Group's president, and at night, I was Bryce's personal possession.

But now, he was going to transfer me to NOBLE Entertainment.

It felt like a favored concubine being sent to the cold palace.

The airport was over thirty kilometers away from Toppy lsland, and it took almost an hour to get there by highway. The nanny car arrived at the terminal just before 1 a.m. After thanking Arthur repeatedly, Laurette got out of the car. The sea breeze was a little cold in the night, and she couldn't help but shiver. She watched the nanny car drive away and brushed her hair, which had been blown by the sea breeze, before walking quickly towards the pier. The sea view was vast, and she could see a deserted island hidden in the distance under the cover of darkness, like a fierce beast lurking in the darkness. As soon as Laurette arrived at the pier, she saw a black wooden boat sailing towards her, with white waves churning on the water's surface and the sound of the radar shaking the sky. She hurried over and saw a crew member carrying a camera getting off the boat. "Excuse me, are you a crew member of the 48hrs Survival program?" "l am. And you are?" The muscular yo

Laurette glanced at the man's hand, which was holding a shoebox. She recognized the brand as a luxury one, but she politely declined, "No, thank you, please thank Mr. Arthur for me." The assistant forcefully handed her the box, "Miss Laurette, please try them on. Mr. Arthur said he couldn't bear to see your injured heel." Laurette's heart warmed, but she hesitated. The assistant ran back before she could say anything, and she turned to see Arthur waving at her from afar. A sour feeling rose in her heart. A stranger she had only met twice noticed her injury, but the man she had shared a bed with for five years was indifferent to her. She thought their relationship had improved that night at the Rodriguez's mansion, but it turned out to be her own wishful thinking. Arthur's kindness touched Laurette, and she silently thanked him before turning to chase after the tall figure that was getting farther away. Laurette ran out of the airport, feeling like her feet were abo

Carlson's car was parked outside the sports center. The fans had already entered, leaving the area deserted except fora few scattered security guards. Laurette got into the car and anxiously asked Carlson,"What's the situation now?" "The person is still missing," Carlson drove the car out. "I talked to the program team. This episode is called 'In the Wonderland'. The staff went to the island in advance and there are no aggressive creatures on the island. There shouldn't be any life-threatening danger." Laurette looked serious. "Have they searched everywhere?" "They're still searching. There's a primitive forest on the island, and it's too big to search quickly. They're worried that Miss Irene might have fallen into the sea," Carlson said worriedly. "Unless she's tired of living, " Laurette knew that Irene couldn't swim, so she wouldn't go near the beach. "Isn't there a camera crew following her? Cameras are also installed at every information point. How did she get

Arthur looks even better in person than on TV, with clear eyebrows and handsome features that make him unforgettable at first sight. "Your foot is injured. Here's a band-aid. Put it on," he stood in front of Laurette, opened his palm, and revealed a band-aid lying in it. Laurette was very surprised. She took the band-aid and said, "Thank you." Arthur nodded at her and left with his assistants. Laurette watched his tall figure and then looked down at the band-aid in her hand. He truly lives up to the dream of 900 million young girls, handsome and kind-hearted. After putting on the band-aid, Laurette's heel didn't hurt as much. She walked quickly towards the trainee dressing room. It was almost 7 o'clock, and the trainees were all leaving. The young boys with stage makeup were full of energy, excited and expectant, talking to their companions. Laurette walked along the wall to avoid bumping into them. Then she heard someone calling her, "You're Joe's agent, rig

Last night, Laurette didn't sleep well. As soon as she got on the car, she leaned on the chair to catch up on her sleep and didn't hear Bryce scolding Alice at all. She slept all the way until she arrived at the company. She didn't even know when the car stopped. She just felt someone gently patting her face, and she opened her eyes drowsily and looked out of the car window. She saw Bryce standing outside the car door, and she immediately woke up. She sat up straight and subconsciously wiped the corner of her mouth. Luckily, she didn't drool. She rubbed her eyes and said, "We're here. I slept too deeply." Bryce leaned against the car door and teased her, "You were snoring. If I hadn't slept next to you last night, I would have thought you went to steal cows in the middle of the night." Laurette felt embarrassed and said softly, "I don't snore when I sleep." Bryce looked at her and said, "I heard it just now. Don't you believe me? Ask Ethan. Ethan, did you he

Bryce walked for a long time, but Alice didn't snap out of her daze. She couldn't understand why her big brother would protect Laurette so much. The more she thought about it, the more upset she became, so she called Irene. Irene had just returned to her hotel room when she answered the phone and heard Alice crying. "Alice, why are you crying?" she asked, startled. "Sister Irene, I hate my big brother," Alice sobbed, "How could he do this to me?" Irene didn't know what had happened, but she was worried. "Don't cry, tell me what happened. Did your big brother scold you?" "No," Alice choked, "But he did something that hurt me even more than scolding." Irene knew that Alice was the little princess of the Rodriguez family, and everyone doted on her. She couldn't imagine what Bryce could have done to make her feel worse than being Scolded. "Can you tell me what happened?" "I..." Alice hesitated. If she told Irene what Bryce had said to her, she would be
