Troublemaker

   Crystal Academy

17th July, 2023

In Senior High School, CLASS C

The class was noisy. The students awaited the arrival of the Geography teacher, Mr David.

Some were chatting with their friend group, some were on their phones, some were even making out like they were in a club or something while few were reading.

A particular person, was bent beside the teacher's chair, holding a screwdriver and literally loosing the screws that held the chair together.

Few minutes later, a whisper was heard, "He's coming! He's coming!"

Immediately, everyone settled properly like nothing was going on,even the one loosing the screws.

Mr David entered the class, his face stoic as usual. He walked to the chair and placed the books he held on the table before looking up at the silent students.

"I hope you all did your assignments because if you didn't, I'll deduct out of your CA marks"

Some students grumbled while some chorused, "Yes sir!"

Mr David sent all of them a long stare, most especially one particular girl sitting in the middle row.

Her green eyes twinkled as she bit her lips, obviously to suppress her laughter.

He eyed her suspiciously before leaning his buttocks down to sit on the chair. At first, it felt wonky. He frowned and as he shifted to adjust himself, the already disbanded chair gave way and immediately, Mr David fell on his a#s.

"Owww!!" He screamed out as he felt a nail dig into his skin.

The students gasped in schock, except that girl. Instead, she burst out laughing.

"Help him up!" The class president ordered and two of the students ran up to the writhing man to help him up.

Mr David glared at the laughing girl, his pale blue eyes sparking fire, literally.

"Areum Kyung! To the Principal's office! Now!!"

Areum stood beside a man, who sated on the chair facing the principal's.

The room was silent as Areum waited patiently for her scolding, lectures and then judgement.

The seated man had a frustrated expression on his face, his arms folded and his foot occasionally tapping the floor.

"Areum. What do you have to say about what happened?" The Principal asked.

Areum sighed, "I am not sorry, Principal Morgan. In fact, i wish he'd broken an arm or something."

The man snapped at her, "What happened, Ara!"

" Calm down, Mr Kyung. "Principal Morgan said.

She blinked innocently, tucking her curly blonde hair behind her ears," Mr David asked me out. "

Principal Morgan frowned, narrowing his gaze at this spoilt, troublesome girl," Was that why you made a suicide attempt towards him? "

" No! In fact, I wasn't going to do anything. I just rejected him and then he threatened me. I told him he won't like it if I deal with him, and he told me to do my worst. "She shrugged nonchalantly as she completed her explanation.

The two middle aged men stared at the teenager, their expressions incredulous.

" What if he'd gotten more injured than that? "Mr Kyung asked his rebellious daughter, wondering why she's so...mischievous. He's always called to her school, her principal reporting one thing or the other. This is the third time he's being called this month.

Areum shrugged," At least he's alive. "

Mr Kyung shook his head, turning to the Principal.

Principal Morgan said to Areum," Next time any teacher tries that with you, report to me and do not take law into your hands. "' like you always do'

Areum hummed, looking away. Who has the time to report. Taking law into one's hand and having a good laugh about it is way better.

" Ok! So as for your punishment. You already have uh... "Principal Morgan scanned through the file on his desk," Yes. Detention for coming late to class... As usual. So, we'll just add 3 days more. Make that a whole week. "

Areum eyed him and he quickly looked at Mr Kyung." I hope that sits well with you, sir. "

Mr Kyung forced a smile as he stood up" Of course. It's okay. Sorry about that. My apologies to Mr David. "

   " Ok sir. Goodbye. "

" Bye. "Mr Kyung smiled as they shook hands.

He eyed his daughter before walking out of the office. Areum walked out after him," Are you mad at me? "

" of course not, in fact, I'm very pleased with your tyrant behaviour. " Mr Kyung spat sarcastically.

Areum pouted," But it's not my fault you know. "

Mr Kyung stopped walking and he turned to her. He stared at her before asking," Can you just give me peace of mind for once? "

  Areum frowned," What?"

He sighed, "Just... Behave." and he walked away.

  Areum sighed before turning away.

Entering the dinning hall, she heard calls, "Areum! Over here!"

Far by her right, sat a red haired girl waving frantically at her. Areum walked over to her and sat beside her, her loose blonde hair moving along with her, "I'm starving. What's for lunch?"

"Cheese on Rye." The guy beside the girl said, not taking his eyes off his phone.

    "Bozo." Areum muttered, picking the

sandwich on his plate and taking a bite.

"Rude." He pursed his lips, looking up now.

The girl smiled, "So... What happened? Hope you didn't get expelled?" She asked, picking the second sandwich on the guy's plate.

She was the one that announced Mr David's arrival earlier.

"Nah. Just additional detention." Areum said nonchalantly, drinking water.

The red haired girl sighed, "I told you not to do it."

Areum rolled her green eyes,"He deserves it, Riel! "

Riel shrugged now, knowing it's pretty useless to advice Areum."Should we hang out today? Or you're busy?"

"Well i have detention. And then music practice by 6. So it's a no."

"If you are not busy on Saturday, come over to my place. My cousins are coming to spend the weekend. They are to die for, Areum! I bet you'll end up dating one of them." Riel shrieked excitedly.

Areum frowned, "I've told you countless times, NO! Stop trying to set me up with guys. I don't like it, Riel."

It's annoying for real. She's always trying to set her up with one guy or the other.

Riel scoffed, picking her phone, "You can't remain single forever you know. You're 17!"

"Being 17 doesn't mean being a b*tch." Areum deadpanned and Diego, the guy among them, whistled mockingly.

Riel eyed Diego, now giving her attention to her phone.

Diego chuckled, "Don't mind her, babe. You can remain single till 30. It's your single, not hers." He winked at Areum, who grinned, "Thank you, best friend."

" You are welcome, best friend."Diego smiled and picked the last sandwich on the plate.

Areum sighed. She's vowed not to date just anyone. If she doesn't feel anything for a person, she won't take her chances with him. She believes LOVE is very important and if she finally sees a guy that catches her attention, she'll go for him.
