Toxic. Suffocating. Crazy. Those are just some of the many words that people use to describe Klaire Owen, an A-Class Hollywood actress famous for her many scandals and crazy ex-girlfriend behavior. For the past two years, she has been in a relationship with Casey Miller, the son of a multi-millionaire businessman, who even recently proposed to her. The problem is that even though Casey loves Klaire, her extremely possessive personality is enough to drive him away as it almost has in the past. Wanting to save the relationship before it's too late, he goes to Ava Maddison, a world-renowned couples therapist who has healed some of the most broken and lost relationships. But what he didn't expect was to see even more faults in Klaire and his relationship, the longer they received council from Ava. He also didn't expect to make it all the way to the wedding but more importantly what he did the night before.
View MoreThe sound of heels against the marble floor made Casey turn around. He knew who it was but he still looked to see her. The door opened, and in walked Klaire, bounding towards him. Finishing styling his hair back he turned to greet her with a smile.
"Are you ready to go?" he took in her appearance which answered his question. Her long blond hair was tied back. She wore a black maxi dress and some black heels accompanied by a black shoulder bag.
She rested her hand on her hip, a pout forming on her face. "I really don't see why we have to go. Our relationship is perfect. And this diamond ring is proof of that."
Klaire held up her hand and looked at the ring lovingly. It was a twenty-carat diamond ring and gleamed even in the dimmest rooms. Casey took her hand and rubbed his finger just below the ring.
"We are not perfect. Far from it. But we will be better if we do this. Don't you want to marry me?" he pulled her into a hug.
Her sweet fruity scent wafted into his nose and he inhaled and relaxed into her embrace. There were things about their relationship that made him question it at times and that was why he suggested that they go to a marriage counselor before they get married in a couple of months. Casey didn't want to say that most of the problems were with Klaire but she had a tendency to get overly possessive and jealous at the slightest things.
She would try to forbid him from talking to any of his female friends and if any female glanced at him or if he looked at one then it would be the catalyst for a fight. At times he would wonder what he was putting all of this effort in for but he would remind himself that he loved her and wanted to make this relationship work. Yes, Klaire had some toxic traits but he hoped that with some therapy, they would be fine.
Klaire stamped her foot and huffed. "But do we have to see her.? Can't we have another person do it? Preferably a man."
Casey sighed. "She is the best in the business and will be completely professional, so you have nothing to worry about and even if she isn't, you know I only have eyes for you right?"
They pulled away and Klaire gave him a small smile before she broke out into a wide grin. "Yes, you do. Only me."
"Only you."
Because they were both celebrities, a lot of eyes were on them all the time. So when they both got to the office of Ava Maddison, the famous relationship consultant, he was sure it would be news. Ava had been able to heal some of the most broken relationships and help the most famous people. Sometimes she would even call the shots on whether they broke up or not.
She had traveled all over the world for her job so of course, she was the first pick in his eyes. Her services were always in high demand and so they had to pay a lot of money to get her to see them, but he was sure that it would be worth it.
Her office was located a couple of streets away from Hollywood Boulevard. It was a five-story white classy-looking building. There was underground parking that helped them get away from the paparazzi but as soon as they came out of the car they could see and hear the flashing of cameras from the entrance.
Casey took a nervous breath. He was not ready for all the comments that would come when people knew about this. It would probably all fall on Klaire because she was known for being very... problematic. She was known for having terrible relationships and being the crazy girlfriend and ex-girlfriend. All of her past lovers would say that she was controlling and crazy obsessive. He knew that that was true, he experienced it. But he truly cared about her, and doing this was for her betterment.
They passed through glass doors with two security guards on either side and were blasted with cool air as they did. It was a relief to escape the grueling humidity of Los Angeles.
White tile made up the interior of the building. Everything looked clean and the building smelled fairly like the laundry aisle in a supermarket. He loved it. Every new breath made him feel relaxed. The right vibe for a place like this.
Down the corridor was the receptionist area and there was a pop of color with the plants situated in the corners of the room and the magazines on the waiting tables. There were two women behind the desk, one a redhead and one a brunette, dressed in black and looking ready, and once they saw them they eyes widened.
"Oh, yes, it's three." said the brunette, looking at the clock on the opposite wall.
"Hello, Ms. Owen and Mr. Miller." the redhead greeted them.
"That's Mrs. Miller to you," Klaire spoke up with pride in her voice.
Casey sighed inwardly and the receptionist's smile twitched.
"My apologies, Mrs. Miller."
Klaire smiled at her.
"Ms. Maddison should be ready for you. If you'll follow me, I'll take you to her." the redhead said.
She walked around the desk and Casey looped his arm sound Klaire's and they followed her. They walked to the hallway on the other side of the desk and there was an elevator there. Once they entered it, the receptionist pushed the button for the fourth floor. The ride was quick and they came out on the floor in an identical hallway to the first. The only difference was that it was lined with doors.
The redhead lead them to a room a little way down the hallway. Casey was mostly distracted by the smell of the place to really be focused on much else. At times he would cringe whenever Klaire's perfume wafted in his face because of how close she was.
He assumed the smell was like an extra measure to make sure that the clients Ava received were in some ways calm.
"Alright, here we are."
They stopped in front of a door labeled 'Room #10'. It made him wonder how many more rooms she had. And what the need was to have so many rooms?
The redhead knocked on the door. "Ms. Maddison, you're three o'clock is here."
There was a moment of silence before a muffled voice spoke, telling them to come in. The redhead opened the door and when he looked inside he was almost blown away by what was inside. It wasn't the room that caught his attention, but the person in it. He had seen many photos of Ava online and even on magazine covers so he knew she was good-looking, but actually seeing her in real life was something else. Next to him, Klaire curled up her lip and gave him a side glance which made him sure that she thought so too.
Ava sat crosslegged on a white sofa that was adjacent to the opposite wall on the other side of the room. There was a desk behind it and then two more white couches surrounding a centered wooden coffee table. And a water dispenser, coffee bar, and mini-fridge in the far right corner.
There was a tablet in her hand and when she turned her head, her long wavy hair fell over her shoulders. A gentle smile graced her lips as she got up. Her hair flowed down to below her waist and she wore a white pencil skirt with a beige blouse. She had a beautiful slightly tan complexion and he could tell even from a distance that she wore no makeup. And yet her eyelashes fluttered when she blinked and her pink lips were, even more, noticeable when she smiled.
She was simply, gorgeous.
Ava rested down the tablet and walked up to them. "Hi, I'm Ava Maddison, your marriage consultant. It's a pleasure to meet you."
"No, it's a pleasure to meet you," Casey detached himself from Klaire and shook her hand.
"You must be Casey Miller, and you must be his lovely wife to be Klaire Owen. Congratulations by the way," she said cooly and shook Klaire's hand.
"Nice to meet you too," Klaire said, but there was something about her tone that made Casey want to hang his head.
But Ava just kept on smiling. "May, thank you for leading them here."
The redhead nodded and closed the door behind them.
"Ok, so sit where you want. I have water and juice, tea, coffee, you can have those anytime you want."
"Can I have a glass of water?" Klaire asked.
"Me too please." he chimed in.
"Certainly."
They found a seat on the couch next to the one she was seated on and Ava went over to the bar and pulled out two cups before going into the mini-fridge and pulling out a jug of water and filling up the cups.
"Is that water filtered?" Klaire asked with a challenging gleam in her eyes.
Ava looked back at them. "Oh yeah. Who drinks tap water? I boil all of my water and then put them in a Brita before I serve it to anyone."
Klaire nodded. After a moment, she brought the glasses to them. They both took it with thanks and then Ava sat down in her original position. She tapped on her tablet for a moment before resting it down and taking up a pad and paper that was on the coffee table.
"Ok, so Mr. Miller and Ms. Owen have come in today to get counseling from me so that they can have a stronger relationship by their wedding, correct?"
Casey nodded and she wrote something on her pad.
"Alright well let's get started with some simple questions then."
"Wait," Klaire suddenly spoke, surprising the other two. "Before that, I would like to ask you some questions."
This is common for people who have had relatively lonely lives. They want love in any form they can get it and so when it comes knocking they immediately answer. Casey wanted Klaire because she loved him. Because she wanted him and he liked that she wanted him. But over time it became too much and he couldn't handle it and had thoughts of breaking it off. But not wanting to be alone, he tried to fix her. He didn't want to leave her.Casey is confused by what she says. He is denying everything but Ava can see it. She is confused as to why he did try to break up with her before when Klaire slapped her. He said that at that point he really was only thinking of getting away from her. He said that Klaire was suffocating and in that moment he was so angry that he didn't think ahead. But when she threatened to kill herself, he stayed with her.He tells her that he began to see all of her flaws as time passed and by the time of the wedding he was way past sick of her, but he did not want to b
After that day, Casey takes to trying to court Ava. She wonders why this appeared all of a sudden and wonders why he has this. She does not believe his feelings and continues to ignore his advances. Every time he appears at her door with floors or when he suddenly pops up when she is trying to live her life casually. She is afraid that the press will get wind of what he is doing and no matter how many times she tells Casey he does not listen to her.By his behavior, she assumes that he is trying to trap her. Get her in a difficult position and then expose her as someone who's trying to get with the person Klaire killed herself over. That is the only logical thing she can think of.Ava thinks that he is probably clinging to her because there is some essence of Klaire remaining on her since she was involved in their entire scandal. That's another theory she has. But whatever it is, she does not believe he has feelings for her.She follows news on him just so that he knows what he's up t
Three years go by and Ava has received a lot of help and has mostly gotten past everything that has happened. She has permanently stopped being a therapist because she still feels unworthy but now that she has been helped she's hoping she can find something to do with her life. The incident with Klaire and Casey has been long settled and people rarely bring it up. She still gets some stares in public but after a year the heavy hate she was getting decreased. Since Casey went missing three years ago no one has really been on their case anymore. A lot of people speculate he killed himself or he went into hiding as there would be the occasional person claiming they saw him with some blurred or potentially photoshopped picture to back them up. Ava is over it and since then she has learned to appreciate herself more and spend more time with herself.Ava goes out to the mall and shops for some essentials and on one of the TVs in the store she is in shows a news channel and there is a crowd
Horrified, Ava throws up on the spot. An overwhelming feeling of guilt builds inside of her. It's definitely her fault. She looks for more news about it and there is also news of a note she posted on her Instagram just a couple of hours after she was found dead. The letter is addressed to Casey and she basically states that even though she loved him he never fully loved her and that she dedicated so much of her time to him only for it all to fall apart. She says that she used the threat of killing herself in the past to keep him with her but it seemed he didn't care about her life because she was already dead because of him. She does not say Ava's name but addresses the 'homewrecking bitch' that came between them.Due to the shock of it all, Ava passes out. When she wakes up, she is in a hospital. Her friends came to check on her and found her passed out. They apologize for leaving her and explain that they needed time to process everything when the news broke out. They say that Klair
Ava would call what she and Casey did, a peaceful resolution. It was the end of their story and she hoped that this entire thing would just be done and over with. She was not expecting to meet with Casey again after that and hoped that their paths would not cross for the benefit of everyone. She just wished that he would not have to go through hell in order to divorce Klaire. She didn’t have work at the moment and she had returned to her apartment that day after meeting with Casey. Ava looked to focus on herself and grow as a person. There was no way that she would be able to gain redemption in the eyes of the public and that was not what she was looking for in the first place. If Ava could, she would rather have just disappeared and not come back for another couple of years. That night, she spent it contemplating everything she was doing with herself when she heard her doorbell ring. It was a mystery who it could have been but Ava had a couple of guesses. Maybe her friends were will
Once Casey and Ava were done with what they had to say, the million and one questions from the reporters came crashing down on them. It was hard for them to distinguish anything more than a couple of words. Casey tried his best to answer them. Ava did not feel qualified to answer anyone, so she moved more to the side and watched what Casey did. Once the crowd was able to be silenced, then they were able to actually hear what people had to say. They got questions along the lines of wondering if Casey dumped Klaire for Ava or what Ava was thinking when she held such a powerful position in their lives. After the press conference, there was a feeling of dread in Ava’s stomach that told her that what they did today did really nothing to help their cases. Ava was not sure why people would be sympathetic and understand where she was coming from. She did not expect them to. The ordeal was already trending online when she got home and once again she spent an unhealthy amount of time scrolli
Casey finally came up with an idea a couple of days later. Ava was not sure if it would make things better or worse but since it was the only thing they had and that it was better than just sitting around, she agreed. It was actually close to what Ava had thought of. Casey decided to call a press conference in the name of his father’s company to publicly apologize for the scandal. Ava was also to attend so that she could also apologize. It would not be announced that Ava was going to attend because she was definitely going to get killed before the event even took place.Based on what he had been telling her, Klaire had been back and forth between ignoring Casey, wanting to kill him, and begging for him to love her. She was a complete mess and Ava was sure that if she went to the press conference and saw her, s
“We really need to talk,” Casey said to her as he entered.“You think.”He walked for a bit and then stopped and looked back at her. “Klaire told me what she did to you. I'm so sorry. This really is all my fault. I should have listened to you when you said that being with Klaire was a mistake. I should have known that it would have blown up. And then to make things worse, I convinced you into a relationship with me.”Ava held up her hand. “I am just as responsible. Even more so since I’m the therapist here. I should have known better. Gosh, I should have known better. I’m sorry. I should have denied this. Doing this was never a good idea.”&ldqu
Two weeks passed. Two weeks of Ava lasting off of Zeeva’s cooking and groceries. Two weeks of pain and tears. Two weeks of not leaving her house and hating every moment of life. Two weeks before she had any contact from Casey.Casey: We need to speak. I’ll come by your apartment.Ava did not know what to expect and she did not know if him going to her was the best option but she knew that they needed to talk about what happened. They needed to do that at least once. She was not sure how he would be able to get him here, seeing as the paparazzi and Klaire’s army have not left her alone, but she was sure he would find a way.Besides the pictures of them fighting, there was nothing else from the two of them. After seeing the pictures, Ava wondered if Casey genuinely felt sorry for what he did. She knew that he still wanted Klaire to get help but she was not sure about his feel
