Chapter 5: The Arrival

Angela sat and prepared for her usual meditation and as usual she tried not to concentrate on the sounds the environment created and focused on imagining the beautiful garden she always meet the goddess.

In just few seconds, she felt everywhere silent and she felt the familiar feel of the goddess’ power surrounding her. She opened her eyes and indeed she is already in the garden and the goddess was right in front of her with her hair covering her face as usual.

“Welcome”, the goddess said and Angela could sense a bit of excitement in her voice. 

She nodded and walked closer to the goddess. “You sound a little bit excited today.”

“That’s because I am”, the goddess replied. “The time has finally come.”

“What do you mean?” Angela asked as she furrowed her eyebrow in confusion. 

“What’s that day we’ve been waiting for?” she asked Angela instead of giving an answer to Angela’s question.

Angela’s eyes went wide when she finally understood what the goddess was saying. “The elementals will be born today.”

The goddess nodded and chuckled. “I’m so excited. I’ve waited so long for this day.”

“But I should be with Tory. She will probably be in labor right now.”

“I’m afraid you can’t be anywhere near her presently”, the goddess told her.

“Why?” she asked giving the goddess a very confused expression.

“If you stay near her while she gives birth, you will feel a power pull towards the elementals and it will not be good for their body. Since you are the guardian, upon sighting the elementals, your power will want to seek out theirs and their body is still fragile, so it might harm them. And that’s the only critical stage. After like 30 minutes of their birth, you can then move closer to them.”

Angela’s face fell but she has to comply. It’s true she’s excited of their birth but she doesn’t want to cause them any harm whatsoever. “I understand.”

“Oh no. cheer up. You will soon see them anyway. So, why the rush? Come on, let’s start on today’s lessons.”

“Okay”, Angela said with a nod. The pups’ birth aside. She needs to focus. 

The goddess chuckled and brought out a knife. “We need to learn healing”, she said. “You know I told you that apart from the elements the elementals can weigh, they all have certain powers.”

“You did”, Angela confirmed. “The Healer, The Killer, The Retriever and The Provider.”

The goddess chuckled. “I’m happy I chose you as the guardian. You are smart. And yes, you are correct. One of them will have the title, The Killer, one, The Healer, another, The Retriever and the last one, The provider.

“According to their titles, The Killer, you can tell will be the most dangerous of them all. The killer will be given the gift of killing just as fast as you can blink your eyes. Then the Healer, according to the name will receive the gift of being able to heal. The retriever, according to the name will be the one to receive the gift of being able to retrieve captured wolves all around the world and find a place for them. Then the provider, will be given the gift of being able to provide a lot of thing for the werewolves.”

“Do I have all these powers too? You know, just like I can wield all the elements.”

“Yes, you have. But to an extent.”

She nodded in understanding. “I understand. So, what are we learning today?”

“Healing”, she said replied and presently a knife. “Cut yourself with this and try to heal it.”

Angela smiled. “Are you forgetting I’m a werewolf? It will heal as soon it cuts unless it’s laced with silver. Or is it?”

The goddess chuckled. “It’s not laced with silver but it’s not a normal knife either.”

And now, Angela was curious. “What exactly is that thing?” she asked, pointing at the knife.

The goddess chuckled again. “This”, she said and pointed the knife at Angela. “Is a knife laced with magic and a little bit of the Afanc’s venom and can be used to kill any supernatural.”

Angela’s eyes went wide. “And you’re asking me to cut myself with it?”

“Yes.”

“What?!” she shouted. “If that thing is actually what you said it is, then I will be dead before you know it. I’m sorry, I can’t do that.”

“Okay”, the goddess said and snapped her fingers. Immediately, Derek, Angela’s mate was standing in between them.

“Derek?” Angela called but he wasn’t saying anything.

“He’s here physical but his mind is not. He can’t hear you”, the goddess told her.

“What are you doing?” Angela asked.

“You will cut him instead and heal him”

“What?” Angela asked with wide eyes. “I know you’re my goddess but are you crazy? You want me to cut my mate. With that? He could die.”

“Don’t you trust me?” the goddess asked.

“I…um… I do but it’s not that easy. He’s my mate and you just described that knife. He could die.”

“He won’t. I’m here, aren’t I? Just trust me.”

Angela sighed and took the knife. “I’m doing it just because I trust you.”

“You’re doing the right thing”, she goddess said and held out Derek’s hand. “Here”

Angela sighed and took his hand. His eyes were opened but he was not looking at her. “I’m sorry”, she said and let the knife come in contact with his skin. She felt a little pain in her hand too as she did.

“Now channel you power and try to heal him. You might get tired but you will do it. Trust me”, the goddess said and she nodded.

She closed her eyes and placed her hand above Derek’s which was bleeding. She sought for that power within her and found it. She imagined Derek’s cut closing and healing and channeled her power to it. She felt the power run through her veins towards her hand and it eventually stopped.

She opened her eyes and Derek’s hand was like nothing ever happened to it. She looked at the hand with wide eyes and looked at the goddess too.

“I did it”, she said.

“You did.”

“Oh my. I did it!” she said and jumped up. “I did it!” she shouted again and the goddess chuckled.

“I don’t think it’s a very good idea to jump up like that after what you just did.”

As if on cue, Angela suddenly felt dizzy and tried to stand but failed. She eventually fell face flat on the floor. 

“Oops. I should have told you that what you just did is capable of draining your energy. With time, your body will get used to it.”

Angela turned and faced the goddess still lying on the floor. “I feel weak.”

“Sorry”, the goddess said and helped her seat up. “You’ll regain your energy soon.”

She nodded and looked around but Derek was no longer there. “Where’s Derek?”

“I sent him back. His work is done here. Are you getting better?”

She nodded. “Yeah. A bit.”

“Just rest a little bit and you’ll be fine.”

“So, what about the elementals?” she had to ask.

“They have arrived. You should go back soon and welcome your nephew and niece.”

Angela smiled and stood up. “I can’t wait to see them.”

The goddess chuckled. “Till next time.”

“Yeah”, Angela said, closed her eyes and felt the familiar pull taking her away from the garden and back to her world.

“Push”, the pack doctor told Tory.

She was covered in sweat and her mate held her hand while she pushed the babies out. He felt all her pain and it didn’t bother him too much. His pups will arrive in any minute and all the pain will worth it. 

“Ahh”, she shouted as she pushed the baby.

A baby cries were heard and the doctor carried the girl covered in blood in his hands before passing it to the nurse.

“Luna, we got the girl out”, the doctor said. “Now push.”

She held Dwight’s hand tighter and closed her eyes before pushing the second baby out. “Ahhh.”

“Again”, the pack doctor said.

“You can do this, babe”, Dwight whispered in her ears and she felt calm.

“Ahh”, she shouted and another cry was heard and she rested her back.

“Congratulation, Luna”, the doctor said. “Your boy is here too.”

“You did it, babe”, Dwight said as he removed the wet hair from her face. “You’re a really strong wolf.”

She smiled weakly. “I’m tired”, she said. “I want to sleep.”

He kissed her forehead. “Sleep, babe. I’ll be here with the pups when you wake.”

She smiled, nodded and closed her eyes.

Ryder paced the corridor as the pack doctor carried out the operation on his mate. He rubbed his face in anger. He was angry. Angry at no one but himself. Angry he broke his promise. Angry he put both his mate and pup in danger. He would never forgive himself if anything happens to his mate. Never.

“If our pup dies, I’ll stay at the back of your mind forever”, his wolf told him.

He shook his head. “No. it won’t come to that. They will be safe”, he reassured himself as well as his wolf.

“It better not”, his wolf spat in ager and continued pacing at the back of his mind.

He felt like punching someone. And that someone is himself. He hated himself right now.

The door opened and the pack doctor came out.

He ran towards the old man. “What’s going on, Andy?” he asked. “How’s my mate and pup?”

“We got the pup out and she’s perfectly okay. But we are trying our best to save the Luna. Thanks to her wolf, she’s not that weak but her wolf is since her wolf took all the pain instead. We hope her wolf heals fast so she can heal too.”

Ryder sighed and rubbed his neck. He held the doctors hands. “Please save her. I beg you. Do everything you can to save her.”

“I will”, the doctor said. “You should go check on your pup.”

Ryder nodded and walked to the nursery where his daughter would be. 

He smiled as he saw her, his tiny pup. She was laid down in the cot and she was asleep but she looked beautiful. Just like her mother. He moved closer to her and took her tiny hands in his. Her body was warm and he liked it. He smiled as happiness filled his heart. He is already a father. 

As he watched his daughter, his mind kept on drifting on to his mate. 

“I hope she’s okay”, he said.

“Alpha”, he heard someone call and he looked up from his daughter.

“Yes”, he said to the nurse that was standing at the doorway.

“The doctor wants to speak with you”, she said.

He stood up immediately and walked out leaving the nurse behind. He went straight to the doctor’s office and the doctor was there.

“What happened?” he asked immediately he entered.

The doctor gave him a smile and he calmed down a bit. “She’s fine now, Alpha. Her wolf is healing and responding to treatment properly. She should be awake in the morning. By then her wolf will be completely okay.”

Ryder sighed in relief. She’s okay. She is really okay. “Thanks, Andy”, he told the doctor. “Thanks for saving her. I owe you.”

“You owe me nothing, Alpha. She’s my Luna. It’s my job to make sure she is safe.”

Ryder smiled as he was finally calm. “Thank you very much.”

“You’re welcome.”

His mate is safe after all. He doesn’t need to worry.

Alpha Maxwell smiled as he held his son in his arms. 

“You’re that happy?” Luna Teresa asked.

He nodded. “Of course I am. More than you can imagine”, he said and kissed her forehead.

“Thanks for completing my life. Thanks for giving me a complete family.”

She smiled. “I love you”, she said.

“I love you more”, he said and placed a sweet kiss on her lips.

“Do you guys want to make another baby? This one isn’t even a day old yet”, a woman said as she entered the room.

“Mom”, Teresa said with a big smile.

“Hey, babe”, Breanna, Teresa’s mom said and hugged her daughter. “Congratulations.”

“Thanks, mom”, Teresa replied her with a sweet smile.

She turned to Maxwell too and hugged him careful not to squeeze the baby between them. “Congratulations, son-in-law”, she said.

“Thanks, Breanna”, he said.

She smiled and pulled away. “Now, can I hold my precious grandson for some minutes?” she asked.

“Of course”, Maxwell said and carefully placed the baby in her hands.

“Aww. He’s so cute and small”, she cooed with a sweet smile on her face. “What are you naming him?” she asked.

“Ryan”, Teresa said.

“Ryan”, Breanna repeated. “That’s a very good name. Isn’t it, Ryan?” she said and smiled at the baby.

Maxwell looked at his mate again and mind linked. “Thank you.”

She smiled and held his hand. “You’re welcome”, she mind linked back.

Maxwell smiled and felt complete.

Angela smiled as she got home. As she almost got to the room the babies were, she felt a whole new feel of power calling out to her. 

“Woah!” she said as she felt her body covered in Goosebumps. “What is that?”

She felt herself walking like the power was pulling her and she let it. She got to the room and finally opened the door.

Her brother was there, smiling as he watched his babies in their crib.

“Now, take a look at the new daddy”, she said and he looked up.

He chuckled. “I’ve been unable to leave their side since. My heart is so filled with joy.”

She smiled too and looked at the babies. The power called out to her again and she moved closer. She smiled and held each of their tiny arms with each of hers. She felt her blood flow increasing but it was pleasing. 

She closed her eyes and a smile was on her lips. 

Dwight wondered what she was doing but didn’t question.

She felt herself bonding with them and she doesn’t want to move until she heard a voice call out to her.

“It’s enough, Angela.” It was the goddess. “Let go of their arms. Your power is too much and you might hurt them.”

She opened her eyes and dropped their hands just like the goddess said and faced her brother with that smile still on her lips.

“That was amazing”, she told him.

“What was?” he asked giving her a confused look.

“I could feel the power running through my vein and theirs. It’s like something I’ve never felt before, it felt magical”, she said with excitement. 

He smiled. “I have no idea what it felt like but it must have been really good. For you to behave like a kid.”

“Trust me, it was”, she said and looked at the sleeping babies again. They slept peacefully and looked beautiful.

“Dwight, where are you?” Dwight heard his mate mind link him.

“With the pups”, he replied.

“Oh come on. I want to see my babies”, she said.

“I’ll be there soon”, was the reply he gave.

He faced Angela. “Tory is awake and she wants to see her babies so badly.”

“Then she will see them”, Angela said and carried the boy while Dwight carried the girl.

As she held the baby, she made sure she kept her power under control and it doesn’t seek out the child’s.

As soon as they got to the room and Tory saw them, her face lit up and she held out her arms. “Oh my babies.”

Dwight placed the girl in her arms and she gave the baby a sweet kiss immediately. 

“Oh my goddess. My baby girl is so cute.”

Angela placed the boy in her other hand carefully and she kissed him too.

“As well as my baby boy,”

“Won’t you give them a name?” Angela asked. “Or you will be calling them baby boy and baby girl.”

“Of course they will both have a name, Dwight and I already picked out two beautiful names for our two beautiful babies”, she said and looked at Dwight. “Right, babe?”

“Of course”, he said and kissed her head,

“So, are you going to tell me or not.”

“Of course we’ll tell you”, Tory said. “You are their aunt after all. Our baby girl is Amanda and our baby boy is Austin.”

Angela smiled because she really like the names. “Very nice.”

“Of course”, Tory said and give each of her babies a kiss on the head while Dwight gave her a kiss on her head.

Luna Brenda opened her eyes to a white room and her head was pounding. What happened? She had no idea.

She wanted to move but realized that Ryder was asleep beside her. She sighed and shook him awake.

“Hmm”, he said and she shook him again till he opened his eyes. “Babe, you’re awake. Thank goddess.” He sat upright.

She just rolled her eyes without saying a word.

He sighed and knew she was angry at him. “I’m sorry”, he said.

“What did you do?” she asked.

“I left you all alone in the house. I promise I won’t do that again.”

“That’s the sixteen time you are saying it and yet you will do it again.”

He rubbed the back of his neck because he knows she is right. He will certainly do that again. “I’m sorry, babe. I will get a maid for you who will be with you in case I’m not around. I also promise to change for you and our daughter. I’m sorry”, he said.

She really wants to get angry at him but she can’t. Not with her mate crawling at the back of her mind that she wants to touch her mate. 

“Please”, he said.

She sighed and took his hands in his. “It’s okay. I forgive you.”

He smiled and hugged her. “Thank you.”

“Oh. Not so strong. I feel a little pain in my tummy.”

“Oh”, he said and pulled back. “I’m sorry.”

She smiled. “Where’s my baby?”

“In the nursery. Should I ask Andy to bring her?”

She nodded with a smile. “Yes. I want to see how my daughter looks like.”

“Bring our baby”, he mind linked the doctor and faced his wife. He smiled and kissed her nose. “She’s just as beautiful as you are.”

She giggled and moved her mouth closer to his. “If there is a next life, I’m surely going to choose you as my mate again.”

“Me too. You are the only one for me. And thanks for being alive.”

She smiled. “You’re welcome”, she said and closed the distance between their mouths, giving him a sweet kiss.

He smiled and kissed back tenderly. He pulled away and leaned his forehead against hers. 

The door opened and a nurse stood there with their baby in her arms. “Alpha”, she said and the both of them turned to her. 

Brenda immediately held out her two hands and gestured to the nurse to hand her baby over to her. “Bring her”, she said and the nurse placed the baby carefully in her arms with a smile. 

As Brenda saw her daughter, tears of happiness welled in her eyes. 

“She’s so beautiful”, she said. 

Ryder nodded in nothing but total agreement. “Indeed. Just like you”, he said and kissed Brenda’s forehead then their daughter’s. “What are we naming her?” he asked.

“Mackenzie.” She said the name with a small smile in the corner of her lips.

He smiled and kissed her forehead again. “That’s a really beautiful name. Thanks for giving me a family.”

She smiled and looked deeply into his eyes. “Thank you too”, she said. “For giving me a family and completing me.”

He smiled and hugged her and they both looked at their daughter with nothing but love and affection.

She sat down in the dark as she rocked herself back and forth on the rocking chair which was the only furniture in the dark room.

Her heart was as dark as the room was and she smiled because it was exactly how she likes it.

One of her minions, which she had gather in a short time entered and bowed down at her feet.

“I have a message for you”, he said.

She smiled. “Tell me.”

“The Alphas welcome their pups yesterday.”

Her smile grew wide and she stood up. “Is that so?”

“Yes.”

She gave an evil laugh. “Then its time”, she said and chuckled. “It’s time.”

“It’s time”, her minion repeated.
