At the company's annual gala, the CEO announced that this year's top sales performer would receive a two-million-dollar year-end bonus. I was the top performer. However, my manager called me into his office the very next day and explained that the company was cutting costs and improving efficiency. As a result, my bonus had to be reduced. I initially assumed everyone's bonus was being cut. Then, I found out I was the only one getting shortchanged. Even worse, they handed my position to a useless coworker who could barely do the job. I understood everything immediately. 'So this is how it is. You're tossing me aside after you got what you wanted from me.' Fine. I stopped putting in any effort from that day forward. I clocked in, did the bare minimum, and watched the company slowly fall apart. Sales began to drop month after month. Even the major clients I had already secured began withdrawing their investments. That was when the CEO finally panicked. He showed up at my front door, begging me to fix things. I kicked the door open and looked down at him. "You think a garbage company like yours deserves my help?"

The Employee They Underestimated Chapter 8 I Made Them Pay
Lucien and Brennan had been bribing John for years. That was how they kept winning bids. John leaked bid prices, interfered with the bidding process, and took massive kickbacks in return. Both sides benefited. This was why Lucien's company had consistently secured the city hospital's contracts over the years. After the sales department got thoroughly disgusted by Lucien and Brennan, the coworker who usually handled this particular dirty work gave me all the evidence he had collected. He wanted to use me to take revenge on them. He had the evidence, but not the nerve to report them himself. He was afraid of offending too many powerful people, so he decided I should be the one to bear those risks instead. Fine. After all, it wasn't like I minded becoming the one who stuck my neck out. I was going to take them all down for the sake of revenge and for my business, so I submitted all the evidence I had to the inspection team. Since the evidence I had was as solid as it
The Employee They Underestimated Chapter 7 I Found Their Backer
My confidence soared after landing my first major deal. So, I turned my attention to public hospitals. After all, 80% of my former company's orders had come from me. The remaining 20% came from public bids. They had repeatedly slandered and bullied me. Now, it was my turn to stand up to them. Recently, I heard from the grapevine that St. Mercy General Hospital needed to replace a batch of CT scanners, and the bidding documents had already been posted on the official website. I submitted my materials right before the deadline. I wasn't surprised when I ran into Lucien and Brennan on the day of the bidding. I heard things had not been going well for them lately. After Brennan broke the client's equipment, the entire sales department's year-end bonuses and commissions were deducted. Everyone working under them had been furious ever since.Lucien was still dreaming of signing the 50-million-dollar order and turning the situation around. Unfortunately, I had already snatc
The Employee They Underestimated Chapter 6 I Took the Fifty-Million Deal Myself
I had spent years in sales, so I knew the industry path quite well. I already had plenty of suppliers and clients, so the major problems for starting a business had been solved. So, I decided to go for it. I pulled in some investment, used the resources I had built over the years, and started my own medical equipment distribution business. Thankfully, that previous 50-million-dollar order had not been signed yet. A deal that big had to belong to me. I brought the documents to Hawthorne Health Group to sign the contract. As luck would have it, one of their machines had broken down. Even better, it was a machine I knew how to fix. So I didn't hesitate to roll up my sleeves and repair it myself. After I finished the repair, I bumped into Brennan near the restroom. When he saw the grease on my hands, Brennan smirked. "Well, look at you, Cassian. Couldn't make it in sales, so now you're fixing machines?" Brennan strode around me with a smug look. "I really thought you

The people began gathering in small groups, whispering angrily. "Mr. Sloane caused this mess. Why should my money be deducted?" "Exactly. Why should they deduct our money? I was counting on that year-end bonus and commission to go home for the holidays. Now the money's gone! How am I supposed to face my family?" "Mr. Blackwell, why should our money be deducted? We didn't do anything wrong. I won't accept this." "Exactly. I won't accept this either." As the crowd grew increasingly agitated, Lucien forced himself to stay composed and tried to calm everyone. "Everyone, don't panic. There may still be a way to turn this around." He continued, "There's still more than a month before the holidays. As long as we produce results within this month, I'll personally ask the higher-ups to issue everyone's year-end bonuses. That's all for today's meeting. Everyone, get back out there and bring in business." After that, Lucien took Brennan with him to negotiate the 50-million-dollar

The coworkers watching from the side instantly went silent. They turned to look at me one after another. I answered lazily, "Mr. Blackwell, you want me gone? Fine. Just remember to notify HR and start the official termination process. By the way, don't forget my severance package." Then, I sat

Brennan smiled as he responded to everyone's flattery. Finally, his gaze landed on me. "Cassian, stay late tonight and fill out everyone's phone bill and transportation reimbursement forms." Then, he announced, "Everyone, give your receipts to him." The whole department started shoving recei
The Employee They Underestimated Chapter 2 They Cut My Bonus to 20,000
When Lucien handed me the year-end bonus plan earlier, this department payout sheet had been accidentally tucked behind it. I originally thought everyone's year-end bonus had been reduced. It turned out mine was the only one that had been cut. Lucien gave me a half-smile. "That's because you d
