9. Family Tradition

Daniel heaves when he sees me walking toward his table. I guess he didn't expect this to happen daily. I wasn't planning on sitting with him at lunch every day either, as I usually sat with my own group of classmates. But I liked hanging out with Daniel last time. The faces he makes when he is annoyed at me are entertaining.

Too bad, so sad, tough guy. I decided we are friends now.

"What do you want now?" he snarls at me like a wild beast, making me laugh.

"Want? Nothing. I am just here to eat my lunch with you," I give him an innocent look.

"What for? I don't need a lunch buddy. I've been eating alone since middle school, and I prefer it that way," Daniel grumbles.

I shook my head. "No, you don't, Danny. You look absolutely miserable eating alone every day."

"That's just my face." He scowls.

I drop my tray at the table and sit down. "Listen, I am not hurting you by eating with you, so just let me..."
