Chapter 134

A bang on the door jolted them all from their thoughts and they looked to see a hand push in several trays of food through the section of the door. It didn't take long before the smell of warm food hit their nostrils.

Hunter's mouth felt dry and he looked at his mom to confirm if they were going to eat the food or not, and when she nodded, he undid his cuffs and stood up wearily from the floor to go bring the food closer. His knees groaned in protest but he made his way to the latch several times and retrieved the food trays and water.

"How are you able to get out of this sliver cuff? Didn't it burn you?" Shirley asked when she saw Hunter without his cuffs.

Hunter shrugged and said, "I stared at it intently and asked it to open and it did. But I tried opening everyone else's own but it didn't work."

"It's okay, it is nothing to be sad about," Shirley replied when she saw his face fall.
