LOGIN~EMBER
Deeply rooted in a spot, I couldn’t bring myself to utter a word except for the rapid beating of my heart and the movement of my chest rising and falling on rhythm. The mate bond is not a myth afterall, it’s the strongest feeling in the world. Unfortunately I get to experience this with Keres of all people. My lips parted slightly as I clenched my fists tighter to keep my desires locked in but my trembling hands could see through my facade, probably he did too. “Follow me” his voice finally broke the defeaning silence and tension thick in the air. Stunned, my brows creased at his level of control and his demand. Where is he taking me to? To my biggest surprise, I had tagged along subconsciously with my nose stuck in air to get more of his intoxicating scent. We had gotten to a large hall with a long dining table before I realized. I peered over the long arrangement of foods on the table to his face, hoping to find him suffering and struggling to keep the mate pull in check as well. I mean, this should be a big shock to him as well. The maids activities ended with a polite bow before they were dismissed. Now left alone in a large dining hall with him; Shameless and unfiltered thoughts started popping in my head. At the thought of my mate’s hands on every forbidden parts of my body, I let out a restrained moan, tightening my thighs together—I shuddered in disbelief. “Have some shame Aethonerra!” My nails dug into my palm, deep enough to draw blood. “Eat” Keres voice smacked me mercilessly out of my unholy thoughts. How is he not affected? Could it be the fact that he’s a half dragon and half werewolf? Was he like that back then? “Snap out of it Shameless Paw. I will rather burn and turn into the finest powder of ashes than to mate with you” He raised a roasted beef to his mouth. I scoffed at his arrogance “You must think highly of yourself to think I’m elated at such a cursed news. Guess I’ve been on your mind all day” With a worthy response to him, I picked up a spoon. “You’ve been on my mind for years Ember,” he paused, chuckled softly before leaning back into his seat “My mind is where your soul is trapped and I can’t wait to reunite your cold, dead body with it” he said with a little laugh. For a moment, I saw myself slide over the table and finished him with a deep clean cut. My eyes shifted at the mere thought of his blood all over the table but reality settled in; there was no escaping from this large mansion on my own even if I managed to kill him. The only option is to try and reason with him or provoke him but I know too well he’s not familiar with reasoning. “I won’t stop you from trying to get your revenge but I don’t plan on dying anytime soon. I have to get my pack back from that scrawny snitch” I said with deep contempt. “Your revenge is not my problem. You’re holding on to a lost battle” “You don’t know that. If you’re truly a god of war like everyone believes, you wouldn’t use a dirty trick to get me here. It’s only right you take me on, fight and drag me away under the watch of my pack fighters. That is if you’re capable of that” My brows arched at him mockingly, provoking him on purpose. “With or without your pack, you’re nothing.” he blurted. “I grew up in that pack. They are my people!” I banged the table in anger, causing a little crack to form. He looked at the crack for a while “No one wants you there but if a little kind gesture of mine would give me a chance to see you miserable, I can’t wait to savor it” With that, Keres rose to his feet and two guards made their way in at once. “Lead her out of the packhouse” I was beyond shocked by his order but I’m least impressed. I cooperated with his guards and allowed myself to be blindfolded. It took a quite a while before they removed my blindfold. I turned to look but they had disappeared whereas I planned to take their heads back as a souvenir. **** I shifted into my wolf to travel faster. I can’t wait to expose that fake Alpha dominating my pack. I wonder if the fame and respect I built for him would remain once they find out his true colors. I traveled for a full day before I arrived at the border of my pack. Excitement bubbles within me at the familiar sight and smell. I could feel the pack aura connecting with my soul as I drew nearer. I returned to my human form. The guards at the border recognized me and immediately rushed to welcome me. “Luna, you’re back” they chorused. “I’m not your Luna. Call me Alpha” I corrected and they exchanged confusing glances. “You there, I want you to inform all the elders of my arrival and they are to assemble in the court room. The rest of you are to follow me to make an arrest…” I hadn’t finished giving out my orders when the border guards came on me at full force, pinning me to the ground. “How dare the likes of you lay your hands on me?” I yelled. “The Alpha has informed us of your betrayal and intentions. We had so much respect for you Luna but you had to let us all down with your madness” one of the guards said with so much hatred in his voice. What the hell did Teneger tell everyone? “Fools! Let me go right now or you’ll regret ever waking up today” I warned, with pure rage filling me up. In no time, the guards increased, ready to take me down. There was no sense of judgement or respect in their eyes. It would be wrong to hurt my own people but they were determined to take me down. I managed to escape from the border without much casualties. As soon as I approached the pack house, a loud horn blared across the dark land and all the lights came on. I didn’t stop. I dash towards the Alpha’s Villa.KERES’S POV~The forest stretched out before us like a familiar embrace. The air smelled of moss, wet earth, and smoke as we arrived at the end of the road. To the secret path leading to the home of our species. I gripped the steering wheel tightly, glancing at Ember. She was quiet, her gaze fixed on the horizon. The city’s chaos had been left behind, but the weight of everything we had survived still lingered in her eyes.“We are going home,” I said softly and she nodded, a small smile tugging at her lips.“Can you handle the drive?” she asked, worried about the lowest speed I was driving.“I can manage. We are not rushing are we?” I smiled and she kissed the side of my face. >>>>When we arrived at the pack lands, the first thing we noticed was the fresh air. The chaos that had lingered after my departure and my father’s betrayal suddenly felt like it never happened. Elder Maera stood tall at the entrance, her presence commanding yet warm.“She’s waiting for us…” Ember smiled wit
KERES’S POV~The night air was harsh on my face as I stormed through the streets, my heart thrumming with every step. The intel had led me straight to her house. I burst through the front door to find everywhere scattered.Rogues and masked men were everywhere, as well as human protesters walking around the streets. As soon as I got inside, I saw Ember cornered by six masked men. She made a defensive posture, ready to fight but I didn’t care if she would be able to do that or not.Without thinking, I leaped forward, taking down the nearest assailant with a punch that cracked ribs.Another lunged at her but my dagger met his shoulder which dropped him right at her feet, groaning.Ember’s eyes met mine mid-fight and my heart skipped. I just want to protect her from any kind of trouble. No one and nothing on this earth will ever hurt her again. Then another rogue came at her but I was already in front, swinging my arm to shield her. I pulled her behind me and took down the rogues one af
EMBER’S POV~I stood by the window, watching the familiar driveway below, but it didn’t feel like home anymore. The house felt different now, it felt like a place I had been kept… a cage I didn’t know I was in.My arms folded slowly across my chest.“How did you become this person…?” I whispered, my voice barely made a sound because I wasn’t sure if I was asking about him or mourning the man I once knew. The man who used to lift me high into the air, spin me around. Laugh like the world wasn’t heavy. The man who called me his little star.My throat tightened.“How did you turn into this… a stranger, a monster.” I shut my eyes.I couldn’t afford to feel this now.“Ember my dear.” His voice pulled me out of my thoughts. I turned slowly. My father stood by the door, looking calm and composed as always.Like nothing was wrong.“I’ve been looking for you,” he said, walking in.I forced a small smile “I was just thinking.”He nodded, stepping closer.“There’s something important we need to
DAYATT’S POV~Night had never felt this heavy before.I stood by the edge of the quiet street, my fingers wrapped tightly around my phone, my eyes scanning every passing shadow as something might jump out of it.Or maybe, I was waiting for it to.My chest felt tight because I knew that everything about tonight was wrong. And yet, I was the one who set it in motion.I swallowed hard, forcing my breathing to steady. The streetlights flickered faintly above, casting long shadows across the empty road. A perfect place for…“No!” I shut my eyes briefly; Don’t think about it.Headlights appeared in the distance and my heart skipped.Even before the car fully stopped, I knew it was Keres. I sense his aura from that distance. He stepped out calmly, looking composed as always. For a moment I almost forgot everything; Forgot why I was here, what I had agreed to do… the fear sitting in my chest.“Dayatt.” He called in a low voice which hit harder than I expected.I clenched my fingers tighter.“
EMBER~By the time I got home, my head was pounding, a sharp, persistent pain like something inside me was trying to claw its way out.The house was quiet when I arrived.“Dad?” I called out but there was no response.I exhaled slowly. He must still be at the hospital.I pressed my fingers against my temple, wincing.“I need painkillers…” I muttered under my breath.I checked my drawer but it was empty. My gaze shifted toward the hallway, towards my father’s study.I hesitated because I rarely went in there. Not because I wasn’t allowed to but because he never liked anyone touching his things. Another throb hit my head, stronger this time.I didn’t have the patience to care anymore.“I’ll just take one and leave,” I whispered to myself and charged forward. His study room was neat to perfection. Even when he doesn’t allow the cleaners in here, there’s no speck of dust anywhere.I moved toward the cabinet that looked identical to mine. It must be where he usually kept medications too. I
KERES’S POV~I knew she wouldn’t believe me immediately. Not after everything that had been done to her.But I also knew one thing, Ember was not weak. She wouldn’t run forever from something that didn’t make sense. She would question it and that was my only chance. So I showed up again; At the hospital uninvited. She saw me the moment I walked in and her body stiffened instantly. Those same eyes, the ones that used to soften when they met mine now held nothing but caution and irritation.“You again,” she said, already sounding exhausted.A faint smile tugged at my lips “Missed me?”She rolled her eyes “Don’t push your luck.”I leaned casually against the counter, ignoring the nurses' whispering nearby.“I came for treatment,” I said lightly. Her brows lifted “You’re not bleeding.”“I could be.”“Then go make yourself bleed,” she snapped. “And come back properly.”I chuckled. Somehow I loved this conversation. It’s the most interesting thing so far. Even her anger felt like home. But
KERES~Before resuming my duties for the day, I made sure to fulfil my part of the conditions laid out for the challenge. After the warriors set out for the long journey to Ember’s pack, I returned to the Alpha’s office. As soon as I entered the large space, a stupidly looking envelope stood out on
EMBER~The moment I stepped out of Keres’s villa, the crisp morning air kissed my skin, sharp and invigorating. Dawn was only just settling over the pack, painting the sky in shades of pale gold and muted lavender. The kind of morning that felt like a promise, quiet, but brimming with life beneath
EMBER~The air in the summit hall still tasted of tension even after Alpha Leo of Blue Crescent broke the discussion. Keres’s aura simmered beside me like a storm trying not to break. The Alphas, settled around the long obsidian table, looked exhausted, worn by worry, yet sharpened by desperation.
EMBER~The elders’ voices faded into a dull hum the moment my name echoed in the boardroom. Keres’s grandmother had summoned me like a chess piece she already knew how to move, and every pair of eyes turned sharply toward me as I entered. And then came their “condition.”A live-in Luna, a temporary
