Amber

Amber found herself in a dark, small room, standing and seeking help.

"Is anyone there? Help me, please. It's too dark here." She yelled for help, but nobody came.

She leaned against the wall of the room helplessly, sobbing as she slowly bent down to give up, when she suddenly heard a male voice.

"You called for me, my Luna?" The deep, masculine voice came from a figure standing in front of her, stretching out his hand.

Though she could not see his face, she was happy someone came to her rescue and grabbed his hand, and he pulled her up.

"Who are you?" Amber asked, trying so hard to see his face.

"I am your Alpha," he said, moving some steps backward with his hands spread out as his voice reverberated the room.

"I am your Alpha." The voice echoed again.

Amber woke up, sweating and looking scared from the nightmare, but the look didn't last the next second as she shook it off.

"At least this is like the hundred and one time I'll be having this dream." She mumbled as she took off her bed and spread that clung to her lower body and got out of bed.

She gently opened the window, not to wake her mom, who was in the next room, and rested on it with her head resting on her hands. She huffed as the cold night breeze hit her face, almost blowing off her glasses.

"I hope you could just show yourself to me." She let out some hot breath and looked up at the sky as if she were staring at a human.

"It's been fifteen years now—a good fifteen years since you cursed my pack. Can't you please lift it now? We are almost useless; we are more human now because we can't access our wolf side." A tear dropped from her eyes, now staring at nothing on the ground.

She had seen many wolves shift as a kid and was admiring them. She hoped to turn eighteen soon so she could experience it until the curse came.

"...because I won't be able to experience my wolf shifting." She mumbled and looked up again.

She closed the window and went back to bed. She had just laid down when she heard a loud thunder sound. She tossed and looked as the rain suddenly poured down, then dozed off.

The next morning, Amber was still fast asleep when she heard someone screaming out her name. She grunted and tried covering her ear with the pillow to mumble the voice, but that didn't work. The door was flung open by a feminine figure that stood with her hands crossed on her chest, waiting for Amber to get up.

"Would you let me come closer now?" The lady scoffed, and Amber sprinted up into a sitting position, her eyes still sleepy.

She slowly opened her eyes, which revealed a familiar figure; she has long gray hair, a pointed nose, and a small, round mouth. She flipped her hair back as she leaned against the door and huffed. She walked further into the room and sat beside Amber.

"What is wrong? Do you want to be late for your first day in school?" Her words were so soothing, which contradicts the look on her face.

"Wolf school!" Amber corrects her mom with a gnash in her teeth.

"It's going to be fine; you're going to get along really well." Amber's mom said Maya stood up and went to the door, her hand clinging to the knob.

"I'll be expecting you in ten minutes; I love you."

Amber grunted and hit her pillow. She adjusted her glasses, got out of bed, and took a bath. She wore a black gown that stayed on her knees, took her cross-body bag, which was also black, and wore her black sandals. She opened the door, her hand still on the knob, and she popped her head out slightly to peep.

"I can scent you out, remember?" Maya said as she arranged the tray.

"I know." Amber threw her head backwards, rolling her eyes as she dragged her feet to the small portion of the living room that they had managed to shape into a dining room.

Maya held the tray, heading to the dining room, but halted to scan Amber's dressing, and she walked to the dining room and dropped the tray. Turning back to look at Amber with one of her brows raised.

"Did I tell you to mourn someone? What's it with the blacks?"

"This is because it's sad going to a wolf school when I can't access my wolf side."

May huffed and dished out Amber's meal and packed her lunch. Amber ate the meal almost immediately.

"Take it easy, dear, or you're going to choke and cause Mummy a sweat." Amber smiled and continued with the meal.

"Mom?"

"Yes, sweetie," she asked, cleaning the kitchen. She turned back to look at her, mopping her hands with a small towel.

"Can I not go to a wolf school, please?" Amber jammed her hands together in a plea.

Maya let out a soft sigh, moved closer, and wrapped her hand over her shoulder. "You're close to eighteen now; you should know how a wolf behaves."

Amber tried to talk, but Maya crossed her lips with her finger and picked up her bag, which was on the dining table.

"Let's go now, or we will both be late."

They both got out of the house; Maya locked the door and gave a spare key to Amber. They got in the car, and Maya revved it into motion. The school was not far from the house, so they were there in no time. Maya pulled to a halt, kissed Amber's cheek, and watched her as she crossed the gate and drove to work.

Amber was walking towards the map when she saw a crowd staring at a notice. She moved closer to them and asked a girl what was going on.

"Excuse me, please. What's going on here?"

"Did you miss the announcement? Well, that doesn't count now. The list is to find the hall you belong to so you can be tested." She grinned, and Amber swallowed hard.

She tried to look at the list, but it was too long.

"Who the hell is Amber Emerson? She was the last on the list for the grand hall. A girl let out her frustration, but Amber was happy for the information.

She walked back to the map to locate the grand hall, and she got there. It was a very big hall, one that she had not seen her whole life, and it was crowded with a lot of people. She found her way into the crowd and made it to the front.

A lady dressed in a shiny yellow dress adorned with beautiful stones walked in, jammed her hands together, and silence fell upon the hall.

"Hello, everyone." Her voice reverberated throughout the hall.

"Welcome to the Wolf School. I guess you all have been grouped and you belong here; this is the biggest group in the school so far. And trust me when I say, "You're here for a purpose." She took a pause, her eyes looking at the students, and ended with Amber.

"I'll leave you all to know yourselves and make a group of five people each. The first lesson is going to start shortly," she added, leaving the platform.

The students began grouping themselves; giggling, murmurs, and laughter filled the hall. Amber tried fitting into a group, but she was always ruled out because of her looks. Some minutes later, the same lady walked in again with two other ladies whose beauty words could not describe.

"Are they really wolves?" Amber mumbled to herself.

"The first lesson is going to start now, so take yourselves into groups now." The lady said:

Everyone got grouped, and Amber was left as the odd number. She fixed her gaze on the ground as the lady in yellow moved closer and held her hand. Her body vibrated in a strange way as soon as she took Amber's hand into hers.

"You are the one we need." She whispered in her ears, and Amber's eyes widened.
