His confidence both amazed and annoyed me. On one hand I loved how much this man was in control of his body and all his senses, and on the other hand, everything he did was beginning to piss me off because I saw myself drawn to him much like a moth is usually drawn to a flame.

He knew exactly what he was doing, he knew the effects his actions had on me and instead of stopping, he kept going like he was hungry to see what the end game of all these will be.

I could only be so strong for so long, soon I was not sure I would be able to push him away when he comes. All I could think about was how I was going to enjoy being in his arms

A part of wanted to slap the smirk off his face and another part wanted to kiss it. The uncertainty of my emotions at that point made me scared. I had to find a feeling and stick to it but unfortunately, it would appear that my emotions still wanted to be haywire.

I was shaking on my insides, though I tried to keep a stern face on the exterior and not mak

  • The Forgotten Bride   CHAPTER SEVENTY THREE: THE FINAL PIECES OF THE PUZZLE?

My head spun. A thousand puzzle pieces flew through my mind, rearranging themselves, but none of them fit.“No… no, that’s not...” I dragged a hand through my hair. “She said that to you?”Amara’s throat worked as she swallowed, but her eyes never left mine. “Yes, she told me that when you met your mother, before your accident, you told your mom that you didnt want me. That you regretted everything and that I was a mistake, one you wanted to get rid of but you just didnt know how to. She told me that the plan to get rid of me was suggested by you and your mom played along till it finally happened. I couldnt believe it but then you went to meet your mom by yourself and before you left, you were very distant, so maybe it is true."My knees nearly buckled. “That’s a lie.”“I know that now,” she snapped. “But back then? I was pregnant. Scared. Alone. You were unreachable. Your family hated me. I had no one.” Her voice broke, but she straightened, wiping the emotion off her face like war

  • The Forgotten Bride   CHAPTER SEVENTY TWO: ROUND TWO

I stepped back into the elevator, ignoring the fact that my pulse was already skyrocketing. I clenched my fist as tight as I could as I stood inside like a man who was possessed, my jaw was already ticking and my mind was racing. I pounded up the stairs two at a time. My heart wasn’t beating—it was thundering. My vision blurred with a cocktail of fury, confusion, and something I refused to name. Fear? No. Desperation.I didn’t even bother knocking this time. I slammed the door open. Amara was pacing. Her arms were folded, but her mask of calm shattered the second she saw me.“Oh, look,” she deadpanned. “Round two already?”“Don’t start with me,” I growled, kicking the door shut behind me. “You’re going to sit there and give me answers. Every. Single. One.”She scoffed, turning her back to me, heading toward the living room. “I don’t owe you anything.” She knew it was a lie, yeah, I had hurt her but she also knew that she had broken me into different pieces, more than any other person

  • The Forgotten Bride   CHAPTER SEVENTY ONE: THE DECISION

Ivy stared at me, eyes wide open. I could see right through her and I knew she was not expecting the words I said at all. She was definitely not expecting me to think about doing anything like that to her, after all I knew exactly what that would do to her. That would ruin her, it would destroy everything that she had worked so hard for. If I did what I said I would do, Ivy would never be able to get up again and she most definitely would have to become a Starbucks waitress just to get by in life, that is if she does not become a homeless person. It was cruel and a bit extreme, but I had to do the tough things just to get my point across and make sure that she does not ruin what I am trying to rebuild. She blinked. “Are you serious right now?”“As a heart attack.”“You—you’re defending her?”“Damn right I am.” My fists clenched. “You came into her home. Disrespected her. Ran your mouth like you had a say in anything going on between us. You don’t. You are a nobody and you will alway

  • The Forgotten Bride   CHAPTER SEVENTY: KNOW YOUR PLACE

"You dont have to talk to her like that, especially when you know that you dont deserve to stand there and justify anything that you have done before," Amara said softly but she knew very well that her words were cutting through like a knife. "Amara you cannot dismiss me like this," I said, almost pleading but at that point, I really didnt care. I just wanted to be close to my son and the woman I loved. I wanted to know both of them well and I was willing to do whatever it took to make sure that happened. "Amara, you had no right to leave the way you did," I rasped, not allowing her to say a word and hoping that she could hear how broken I truly was. “And neither did you,” she shot back. “You left me. You forgot me. You moved on while I carried the burden of both of us.”“I didn’t choose to forget!” I screamed, wondering if she did not listen to a single word I had said all these while. “Then tell me, Liam,” she stepped forward, tears falling but her eyes burning like fire, “if yo

  • The Forgotten Bride   CHAPTER SIXTY NINE: IVY

She didnt say a word and the silence was killing me. I didnt let go of her though, holding her like that by the waist just felt so perfect. It felt like all the pain I felt had been washed away and I felt so safe in her hands. I was sjre she felt the same way but she just didnt know how to express it or say it out. I was prepared to help her voice out her true feelings. I was not going to allow her to be deterred from speaking her truth. But just as she opened her mouth ready to talk, we all heard a high pitched and extremely desperate voice chim in. “Liam, stop! You don’t belong here. You don’t belong with her.”I knew exactly whom that voice belonged to and I belived I hated her a little bit more than that. I didnt need to turn around to know that somehow that parasite had found me. If I was to guess, i would even say that she followed me around like a lost puppy. I held Amara tighter when I heard her voice, Amara would want to dash away and not be caught in the middle of all the

  • The Forgotten Bride   CHAPTER SIXTY EIGHT: THE CONTRACT

She was trying her best to avoid anything that felt like eye contact from me. I could tell in her eyes that she was not only sad and hurt, she was also confused. She didnt know what to do, she didnt know if she should go with me or not. I know the noble thing to have done would have probably been to allow her make her own decisions by herself but I wasnt going to do down that road. I was going to make sure I influenced every single one of her decision till she finally came back to me. She didnt make it to the fridge before Steve held her hand in a tight grip and pulled her close to himself. "What the hell are you doing? You know for a fact that we cant keep this madness going on, you have to put a stop to this madness and the very best way for you to do that is for you to not give in to the desire to take care of him when he is hurt"."Well then I guess I have you to blame for this madness then, cause if you had not made it clear to me that you are going to kill him in my house mayb
