Chapter 5

Once Davina finished her shower she walked into her bedroom. She sat down on her bed, her head still reeling with everything that happened at the training grounds with Beta Leif, then at the edge of the woods with Alpha Ragnar.

'Thank the Goddess we didn't shift to run or he would have seen us'

That made her head hurt even more. What if he saw us? Would he send us away? Would he show us off like a circus monkey? She didn't even want to imagine, her parent made it quite clear that she is to stay hidden.

At first when they told her she listened straight away, clearly confused but knew that her father only ever wanted the best for her, he'd never steer her wrong.

The terrified look in his eyes when she looked at him in her wolf form spoke volumes to her, so she obeyed, no one, not even her best friend has ever seen her shift. Some other wolves go as far to say that I can't shift, that they can sense my wolf but she is to weak to show herself.

Even though it makes it hard on her, always listening to people bad mouth herself and her wolf, she just let it go. Of course this never helped her friend issues, especially once they started on her, that made her not shifting just another thing for people to bad mouth me for.

Davina always wondered what it must feel like to run as a pack, she thrived for it, all wolves do. Being part of a pack was everything any of them ever truly want, they aren't vampires, very few are lone wolves, but I guess that's the title she has now, the lone wolf of a pack.

After laying back on her bed while thinking she ended up falling asleep, when she woke it was to her father yelling up the stairs for her to come eat an early dinner before he headed out to patrol this evening.

Jerking up she tossed on a shirt with some shorts and went downstairs to find both her parents sitting at the table.

"Oh, now you come down? When your father mentions food?"

'Goddess why is my mother always so snarky towards me?'

"Sorry, I actually fell asleep, his voice woke me"

"Sleeping in late, taking naps, what is going on with you? When was the last time you let that beast out for a run?"

A low growl left Davina, she widened her eyes in shock when she realized it was her, she snapped her eyes at her mother who was sitting there with her mouth slightly agape "Did you just growl at me young lady?!"

"Not intentionally, I apologize, but honestly she doesn't appreciate the way you speak about her."

"No right to ever do that to me! You better get her under control, can't have her showing herself to anyone, you hear me!?"

"Yes mother, I get it" Davina rolled her eyes as she looked over to her father that sat there silent just watching them.

"Dear, you need to ease up, Davina is always very cautious, for the last year she has maintained full control over a young wolf that I am sure wants nothing more than to run wild, especially with her pack." He gave Davina a wink while Shirley, her mother shook her head in disagreement.

Davina mouthed a 'Thank you' to her father before eating some of her dinner before excusing herself, knowing she better get ready for that party or who knows which one will end up at her window this time.

When she arrived upstairs she opened her closet to find a dress right in front, all her other clothes had been pushed off to the sides so the only thing there was the dress.

She looked around the room when she noticed her window slightly open making her breath hitch 'Who was here?' She sniffed the air to know it was definitely Alpha Ragnar that had been in her room again.

Looking back to the dress she stared at it before finally picking it up to examine it thoroughly.

It was a deep blue, perfect to bring out her eyes as well as blue always looked best qlwith her black hair laying on it.

It had a high neckline but not to high, a low back so it would show most of it, the bottom half flowed out almost like a tutu but elegantly, it came to right above her knee.

She looked at this beautiful dress stunned, 'Why would he give is something so beautiful, something so not what the other girls would wear. Everyone else would definitely be in something skin tight, showing off all their assets, making sure they would stand out to the Alpha and Beta, no one would wear anything like this, it looked almost prom formal.'

With a heavy sigh she started to get dress, 'Damn can't wear a bra with this'. Once in the dress she curled her hair slightly so that she would have big curls at the ends that cascaded down her back hiding some of the skin showing as well as down her shoulders nicely.

With a bit of smokey eye shadow, along with eye liner and some lightly shaded pink lip gloss she was ready to go.

She started to walk out of her room when it hit her she wasn't wearing any shoes. Reaching down in her closet she had a black pair of ballerina flats, she decided that those would have to do, she didn't want to wear heels, she felt uncomfortable enough, she figured she may as well like her shoes.

Now fully ready to go, her heart started to feel constricted, her breath shallow, panic setting in, she really doesn't want to go to this, being around all those people, the people that always look down on her. Mainly she just didn't want to face them, let alone them together.

After one last look in the mirror she walked out of her room then headed down the stairs only to hear both her mother and father gasp.

"Wow princess, you looks absolutely gorgeous, that color is stunning on you, compliments you perfectly" her dad said to her while he walked up to her grabbing her hand making her swirl around once, it made her giggle.

"You really do look quite beautiful Davina, I'm so glad you are going to the party, even happier that you finally took what I've been trying to drill through that thick skull of yours to dress appropriately."

Even her compliments have an underlying meaning and tone to them. "Thank you mother" she nodded her head to her with a small smile before turning back to her father.

"Be careful on patrol dad, I love you, and love you mom"

Her father hugged her as she headed out of the housebwhile he said his goodbyes and goodnight to my mother.

When her dad came outside, closing the door behind him he looked at his daughter "You be careful, if you need anything, anything at all just link me okay baby girl, I want you safe." He kissed her forehead as she nodded smiling at him.

Then her father shifted as he ran out towars the woods, his gray wolf with black paws, black tail yet a single white ring around his left eye, he was was beautiful wolf but not the size she was 'Why do you think we are the size we are? Is something wrong with us?'

'There is nothing wrong with is, we are perfect, one day everyone will see just how perfect we are'

'Try to stay calm, we have to maintain our composure, after this party, the moment we can leave we will go to our spot, I will let you run to blow off some steam okay'

Her wolf agreed, she desperately wanted to stretch her legs, she hates feeling cooped up.

Walking slowly across town to get the the packhouse, hesitation building the entire way there, constantly telling herself to keep walking forward and not to take off running in any other direction besides the one she was going.

Finally she got to the packhouse, she could hear loud music along with even louder voices, so many people talking, laughing, yelling, singing, it was an absolute mad house right now. 'Maybe once they see us here we will be able to slip out, I mean I doubt anyone would even notice us disappear right'

With that thought still fresh on her mind to took a deep breath as she walked up the steps to the half open door, taking a step she reluctantly stepped over the threshold making her way into the house, no one even looked her way.

Making her way further inside, finding a chair next to the couch, the only open without a couple sucking each others faces off, she scoffed at the sight around her, 'where are they so they can see I listened, then I will get out of here'

Sitting for no more than 5 minutes she could swear that someone was closely watching her, realizing it was the lady from earlier, the one telling her about her son, then having some crazy premonition, everything is so crazy she wasn't sure what to think.

As she turned around she saw them, both the Alpha and the Beta staring intently at her sending a shiver up her spine.

They stalked towards her, this hunger in their eyes that made her feel incredibly uneasy, 'What are they going to do to us in front of all these people?'

'Wouldn't be the first time we were humiliated in front of everyone in our pack, more like what could they possibly do they haven't done to us yet?'

With that, she was three times as nervous as she already was.

Looking at Alpha Ragnar, his piercing blue eyes swirling amber as he eyes her, his dirty blonde hair falling down his forehead, it was unkempt yet looked purposeful at the same time, his strong jaw with those perfectly tan colored lips that had a smirk dawned on them making him look even more malicious than usual.

Beta Leif standing towards her next to his Alpha, those green eyes pinned down on her, he wasn't even blinking as his lips curled up in the corners of his mouth ever so slightly but definitely felt threatening, his dark hair pulled back into a loose ponytail but had slight curls trying to escape it, his jaw was just as taut as Ragnars but his lips were more pink tinted than his.

Feeling quite uneasy she wanted to back away, maybe run? However she was glued to her spot, unable to get her brainwaves to control her feet or legs as they got closer to her.

Davina's heart was racing 'Is this what a heart attack feels like!?'

'No, but definitely a panic attack!'
