The Gap in Our Words

"Alaina.. Alainaaaaa wakey wakey eggs and bakey"

I felt someone nudge me "ugh five more minutes" I grumbled rolling onto my stomach

"No come on or we'll be late to school.. fine don't wake up but once your mom finds out..."

"I'm up I'm up gosh" I mumbled and turned over so that I was laying on my side

"Well good morning to you too" Roxy said grinning at me "now get your butt up" she said pulling the covers off of my body making me shiver at the cold air

"Oh my gosh it's freezing in here" I said crossing my arms and looking at the time on my alarm clock and to my absolute horror it was only 4:30

"Roxy why am I up at 4 in the morning when school starts at 8" I said glaring at her

"Well because we're seniors now and we need to look our very best, we're finally the top dogs and we have to look the part"

I rolled my eyes playfully "ughhh summer went by so quickly"

"Well that's because you were with Cam the whole time, they say time flies when you having fun"

I smiled shyly "yeah this was like the best summer ever"

"Especially your 18th birthday you guys were all over each other"

I covered my face with my hands "yeah my birthday was pretty great" I said thinking back to that night

"Just how great was it" Roxy said wiggling her eyebrows up and down

"Not like that, we haven't went that far yet"

"Yet" Roxy yelled "so there's a yet" she said jumping up

"Okay this conversation is officially over let's get dressed" I said getting up and walking to my closet

"It's over for now, but we will be talking about this again"

"Whatever. So what are you wearing"

"I'm so glad you asked darling, I will be wearing a nude maxi dress with these gold sandals and my very best friend in the whole world will be curling my hair"

"Best friend in the whole world that's a big title" I said grinning "you think she'll do my hair too"

"Oh haha" she said pushing me lightly "what will be wearing Miss Alaina"

"Well my darling I will be wearing my light pink maxi skirt with my white tank top and white sandals" I said showing each item like I was in a fashion show

"Fabulous absolutely fabulous" she said clapping

"Oh my gosh we're so dumb" I said laughing

"Yeah but we wear it well, now come let's get this show on the road"

After taking a quick shower and getting dressed, I got my curling iron and started doing Roxys hair

"Soo is miss Roxy looking for love" I asked while doing her hair

"Hmm I'm not sure I wanna say let Love come to me but I am sick and tired of third wheeling with you and Cam, it is so awkward"

I giggled "so that's a yes"

"I guess so but I'm looking for someone who is just like me, like have a lot of things in common"

"Great I can do that, I'm like the best match maker"

"Oh gosh now I'm terrified"

"Hey I'm good I'm the one who hooked up Anthony and Kayla"

"Really they are so cute I see them on Instagram with their little selfies and stuff"

"Yep and they both are going to be coming down here to stay" I said and I am so happy because I barely got to spend time with Kayla this summer

"For real I didn't know that"

"Yeah she told me yesterday, they are going to be staying with Cam until they find a place of their own"

"That's awesome I like Kayla she's cool, Tes cool too but sometimes she scares me"

I laughed "yeah she can be like that but overall she's one of the kindest people I know"

"Send me your location lets focus on communication"

"Is that your phone" Roxy asked me

"Yeah I think so one sec" I put the curling iron down and went over to my bed and grabbed my phone to see Cam calling me

"Hello" I answered

"Yo wassup ma you need me to take you to school today"

"No Roxy is here im riding with her"

"Damn Roxy beat me to it what she do wait outside your house"

"I laughed at his crazy self "no she spent the night so we could get dressed together for the first day"

"Oh ight what you wearing today"

"You'll see what I'm wearing when you see me"

"Well I ain't telling you what I'm wearing how bout that"

I rolled my eyes while shaking my head "Cam I don't care what you wearing it's probably dusty anyway"

"Oh ha you got jokes but we'll see who looks the best at school"

"Me duh but I have to go I'm doing Roxys hair"

"Ight peace"

After I hung up the phone I went back over to Roxy and started finishing up her hair

"No I love you Cammy" Roxy asked

"What" I asked

"You know when couples get off the phone their all like I love you honey mwah"

"Well not all couples are the same" I said "there you are I'm all finished"

"Thanks Alaina but back to the conversation, have you guys ever even said I love you to each other"

I unplugged the curling iron and plugged in the straighter so I could do my hair "of course we have we've known each other for years Roxy"

"Yeah as best friends but have you said it in a relationship type of way, I mean you guys are dating now"

"No, one time I thought he was going to say it but then he just stopped; is that like a sign or something"

"No it's fine that's how most guys are sometimes he'll come around" Roxy said rubbing my shoulder "until then how about you finish your hair and I go make pancakes"

"Waffles"

"We are not going to debate this again Alaina Ginger Rose Jones pancakes are better than waffles"

"On what planet the No taste whatsoever planet"

"No and waffles have holes in them they are just wannabe pancakes" Roxy said walking out of my room to the kitchen

"The holes are used to hold the syrup" I yelled after her

"Demon holes" she yelled back making me laugh
