Garrett sat at the long council table, pacing slowly behind his chair, awaiting the outcome of the trap that had been set for Tiara.

A single candle flickered between the elders, casting stretched shadows across their weathered faces.

“This matter with Tiara is growing out of hand,” Elder Leonard muttered.

"We cannot allow things to continue this way. The alpha is caught between his fated mate, and the pack,"

“If she truly is the Alpha’s fated mate, the pack has a right to—”

"Has a right to do what?"" Garrett flared.

"This is one of the problems I have with you all," he continued.

" The girl in question has none of the qualities required to become the Luna, not even the slightest one!" He half-yelled.

The doors to the chamber suddenly burst open.

Vanessa strode in, her hair, freely flowing over her shoulder, a furious glint in her eyes.

All conversation ceased.

She did not bother to ask for permission before speaking. “She escaped.”

Garrett raised a brow. “Huh?? Who?”

“Tiara,” Vanessa hissed. “She ran. After attacking one of our men."

"We have allowed her to slink through our walls like a shadow for too long. It is time to finish this,” she confidently reported.

The elders exchanged glances.

“Vanessa,” Leonard began, his tone clipped, “we are still discussing the matter—”

“I am the matter!” she snapped at him. “That weakling omega was never meant to stand beside Edwin. She is not one of us—she never was, and she never will be!

"We should be discussing my installation as Luna, not brooding over some

lame weakling!"

Taking a deep breath, "I do not think that this matter is something that needs to be tabled or discussed before a decision is made."

"The same thing I was just telling them–" Garrett interjected.

“Regardless of your feelings,” another elder interjected, “we were convening to figure things out. If Tiara and Alpha Edwin are fated—”

Vanessa let out a loud, theatrical laugh. “Fated? Or did you mean manipulated?”

"We still need to discuss what is best for the alpha and the pack, regardless of her status."

The elder continued.

She walked around the table, slow and dramatic, letting the folds of her cloak trail behind her like smoke.

"How about I burst your bubbles? Tell you something shocking, huh?" She evily smirked.

“Do you know what I found out about her? Something so despicable and filthy, something no one here would want to associate with.”

"Tell us whatever it is you want to say and stop teasing us like dogs being teased with a bone!" One of the elders angrily blurted.

"Very well then, since you are so curious,"

"She sleeps with rogues, steals from the pack's supply that is kept in my father's possession," she continued, lying smoothly.

“She’s lying,” one of the younger elders muttered, barely audible.

"We both know how desperate Garrett and his daughter have being, viciously vying for the post of the Luna."

But the damage was done, doubt had already been planted in the heart of most of the elders, they had already fallen for Vanessa's trap.

Vanessa turned to Garrett and tilted her head, eyes gleaming. “Father, if the council will not protect the pack, then we will.”

"And how do you intend to protect the pack alone?" An elder asked.

"By telling the pack the truth that they deserve to know about their so-called "Luna" who is nothing but a despicable, cheap slut!" Vanessa slammed back.

"It is actually no news to the pack, more like they already know what she is and I am sure that they would still not want someone like that to lead them." She smirked, the room filled with heavy silence.

Garrett did not speak. He did not have to, his nod was enough.

-----------------------

Tiara, sprawled on the moist grounds of the woods where she had taken solace for the night, looking so weak and hungry.

She lazily dragged herself from the ground, slowly trying to stand on her feet.

"Will it be safe for me to go back into town with all that has happened?" She rubbed her hand against her arm.

"I doubt uncle Garrett would allow me get off scot-free," she was still mumbling to herself, contemplating what to do when—

"Have you heard about the news spreading like wildfire?" A voice asked. Like lightening, Tiara jumped behind a big tree that was enough to shield her from the intruders.

"You mean that of the so-called alpha's fated mate?" Another voice scoffed.

She took a peep and saw that they were two women, making their way into the woods.

"Yes, that particular one," the first woman replied, stopping in her tracks.

"Who would have thought that she had not been able to shift into her wolf form?" She mocked.

"One of the servants working for the beta's daughter even mentioned that she is a loose child and that she might be selling the pack's information to rogues and other packs who are our enemies."

"I heard that she fled after her secret was exposed, but I hope that she is caught and fed with a wolfsbane so her case would serve as deterrent to others who are just like her," the other woman wished.

Tiara's blood froze, tears gushing down her eyes, unable to speak or do anything for herself knowing fully well that the consequences would be dire.

"According to what I heard, a bounty might even be placed on her head, just in case she is still amongst us," one of the women whispered to the other, though loud enough to be heard.

"I will gladly hand her over to the council of elders, I mean, what is the point of being amongst wolves when she is a mere human?"

" I know, right," her accomplice replied, laughing.

Tiara maintained her position, trying not to give herself away by making the slightest move.

"Why would they go to this extent to destroy my life, all for the Luna's position?" She thought to herself, seeking answers from her insides.

"It is not safe for me here, I need to get out of here for my safety." She concluded and just then—

"Hey, you!" A voice called out, and that moment, everything went still.

Tiara watched as Edwin staggered towards the door. Her heart softened at the sight of it.She quickly stepped closer, tugging at his clothes. She then spoke in a steady voice which was eerily calm."Edwin!" She called, reaching out to him."I know that you must think I enjoyed speaking doom over you but, I speak nothing but the truth," she softly saidClearing her throat, “she is going to try to take your place, Edwin. Not just as Luna, but as the Alpha. She wants control over the pack, over the lands, and over everything your father died protecting,”She paused, letting the weight of her words settle like fine particles of sand.“And she definitely will succeed…and that will happen if you do not stop her.”Edwin felt like he could not breathe. His pulse thundered in his ears. Every meeting, every hollow promise, every fake smile and moment with Vanessa suddenly flashed through his head. They all seemed calculated."When you knew that she could be stopped and that she was this evil, w

Edwin stood frozen, his voice became barely audible as he stepped closer to the Seer. His eyes were filled with a mixture of desperation and confusion. They were locked on Tiara, still unable to fully grasp the weight of the moment."I... I need your help," he began with, his voice slightly cracking. "My pack, Tiara. It is on the brink of falling apart." Sadness could be detected in his tone.'My Luna, Vanessa...she... she has had a couple of miscarriages and it is really causing more than enough chaos. I feel that something out of the ordinary is playing out. She acts like a psychopath sometimes, and other times, she is normal," he explained." I can feel it, deep within me that she is hiding something too. I had to think of a way to come here alone so that I would be able to talk to you freely, I did not even expect that you would be the seer,"" I am here to seek your guidance. I do not know what is happening, but... I am losing control."Tiara's lips curled slightly as she turned

  • The Gifted Luna    Chapter 14: The Seer Behind the Veil

The Scarlet Pack was way quieter and peaceful than Edwin had expected.Situated between hills of crimson-streaked rocks and evergreen trees, the settlement felt strangely reverent as if even the wind knew to move carefully. The Seer’s dwelling was not grand like he had envisioned and thought of it. The old cabin was still as it was, only with a little renovations here and there. Dozens of offerings of flowers, coins, fabrics, and food lined the path.“She lives alone,” the escort from alpha Zach explained. “but the strange thing is that she takes no visitors unless summoned, but she suddenly agreed to see the Alpha of Dark Moon.”"Hmm, I see," Edwin replied, observing his environment.Stopping at the door, the escort insisted that Edwin went ahead. “The Seer’s powers are real, my lord. I think it would be a safer and more accommodating environment for you if you go inside alone. You will be free to discuss your issues with her,” he said with a confident smirk.Curious as to why the es

Just like the guard had thought, he came up with a way to get to Vanessa."Do you think that this would work?" One of Vanessa's personal maids asked him."In all sincerity, it is not like I want to do this but for the alpha's sake," "Why would you say such a thing, Alma?" The guard scolded."The last time I tried to talk to her about it, you needed to see how she chased me out of her room. Like I was a dog or something," she explained, still adamant."I know how she can be but if we are being fair too, you approached her when she was in a very bad mood. You should have read the room before telling her about something like that," he said."Whatever, but just so you know, this is the last time I will do this," she said before stomping away."Hmm," he deeply sighed."I hope it we get fruitful results this time."------------The air in the Alpha's quarters was thick with tension.Alma walked with so much caution as she approached the Luna's quarters, she was unsure of the step she was a

The arena was dead silent.A training accident, they called it. It had happened that a rare spearhead had dislodged from the ceiling where it was hanged and it sank right into the little boy. No one expected it. No one could have stopped it.Except for one girl. The same girl they had mocked, ridiculed, and beaten.Tiara.---The following day, Alpha Zach stood outside the old cabin on the outskirts of the village, looking at Tiara's tiny door. The guards who had come with him glanced at each other, obviously uneasy. They had never seen their alpha in such a devastating state. He looked so humble, his shoulders were lowered, and his lips were tightly pressed against each other in regret. He slowly lifted his hand as if it was heavy. He knocked once. When the door creaked open, Tiara appeared, wearing a blank expression, dried blood crusted along her cheek.“I know,” she said, heaving a sigh before she continued to speak. “I know that he is gone.”Zach tried to speak, but no words cam

After a very long day of doing the usual routine, Tiara finally got to go home, after enduring so much during the day.Not long after she jumped on her bed, she closed her eyes and patiently waited for sleep to engulf her.And in no time..... "Scrub the floor...." She mumbled in her sleep, finally drifting off to the dreamland.Slowly and meticulously, at about midnight, a dream hit Tiara like a tsunami. She stood in the middle of a familiar training ground. The stench that filled her nostrils was that of blood."Where is this smell coming from?" Curiously raising her brows, she scrutinized her surroundings and just then, her eyes fell on the ground a few miles away from her.She saw something rapidly flowing towards her, and as it did, the stench of blood became more defined and strong. As it moved closer, she observed that it continued to spread to every part of the ground where she stood, heavily soaking the ground like a waterlogged area during the rain.Terrified, she quickly l
