Archer’s POV:

The training dummy exploded into pieces. Straw scattered across the practice ring as my fist punched straight through its chest.

“Damn.”

I pulled my hand free and watched the dummy collapse into a pathetic heap.

“That’s the fourth one.”

I looked over my shoulder. Kieran Wolfe, My Beta, leaned lazily against the arena fence, his arms crossed over his broad chest. His gray eyes dropped to the destroyed dummy before lifting back to me.

“They’re going to start charging you for those.

  • The Girl with the Violet Eyes    Colossal failure

Lucien’s POV: I knew something had happened before anyone told me. The academy felt wrong. Students crowded the corridors in clusters, conversations dropping into whispers whenever professors passed. I caught pieces as I walked.Courtyard.Fire.Alpha.Did you see Hawthorne?I slowed. Something cold settled in my stomach. Then someone called my name.“Blackwell.” I turned.Dorian leaned against one of the stone pillars, watching me with far too much amusement for my liking. I’d known him long enough to recognize when he had information he thought I’d want.“What?” His eyebrows lifted.“So I heard your little shadow had half the school on their knees for her.”Everything inside me stopped. There was only one person he could possibly mean.“Aria?” His smile faded slightly.“You haven’t heard.”“Heard what?”Dorian straightened. “Shit.”I stepped closer. “What happened?”“There was an announcement in the courtyard.”“What announcement?”“Nightblade chose his Luna.” I frowned.“Lorie.”“

  • The Girl with the Violet Eyes    Waking up

Aria’s POV: Something was wrong with Lucien. I knew it the moment I saw him. He was standing near the entrance to the cafeteria, talking with another vampire when I walked in.Normally, his eyes would find me immediately. Normally, he’d smile. He’d call me little one. Today, he barely looked at me. I told myself not to care. I failed miserably. I walked toward him anyway.“Lucien.”His eyes finally met mine. “Aria.”Just my name. There was no warmth in his voice anymore. No teasing me until I was blushing. Nothing at all. “Are you okay?”“I’m fine.” He stepped around me.I turned. “Wait.”He stopped but didn’t face me. “Did I do something?”His shoulders tightened. “No.”“Then why are you doing this?” He was silent.I moved in front of him. “Lucien.”He finally looked at me. His eyes were filled with something I couldn’t identify. Pain, maybe.“Nothing is wrong.”“You’re lying.”His jaw tightened. “I have class.”Then he walked away. I stood there watching him until he disappeared

  • The Girl with the Violet Eyes    Blackmail

Archer’s POV:I knew Lorie was waiting for me. The moment I stepped out of my room, I could feel her presence at the end of the corridor. She was leaning against the stone wall, arms folded across her chest. My jaw tightened. I knew exactly why she was there.“Archer.” I kept walking.“Lorie.” She pushed away from the wall.“We need to talk.”“No.”She blinked. “No?”“You saw something you shouldn’t have seen. Whatever you’re planning to do with that information, I’m not interested.”A slow smile appeared on her face. “Then you’re going to want to hear what I have to say.”I stopped walking as she stepped closer. “I know what Aria is doing.”My entire body went rigid. She smiled wider. “She feeds from you.”My wolf slammed against the inside of my mind.“Protect her.”I forced myself to stay still. “Watch your mouth.”“I’m not insulting her.”“You don’t get to say her name.”Lorie’s smile disappeared. “Then perhaps you’ll listen.”She stepped closer. “I know what it means when a vampi

  • The Girl with the Violet Eyes    Out in the open

Aria’s POV:I told myself I wasn’t going to go to Archer. Then I found myself standing outside his door again. I stared at the wood for several seconds, fighting the urge to knock. Things had changed. Jasper was my mate now. That fact was still so new that sometimes I caught myself forgetting and then remembering all over again.I couldn’t keep pretending my relationship with Archer hadn’t changed too. Whatever existed between us couldn’t continue the way it had before. If I was going to keep coming to him, there had to be boundaries. I raised my hand and knocked. The door opened almost immediately. Archer stood there, looking at me like he’d been expecting me.“Wildfire.”“I need to talk to you.” His expression shifted.“Come in.” I stepped inside. The door closed behind me. He stood there silently waiting for me to say something. Then I looked directly at him.“I’m still hungry.”His jaw tightened. “I know.”“I don’t want this to become something it shouldn’t.”His eyes narrowed sli

  • The Girl with the Violet Eyes    Don’t break my heart

Lucien’s POV: I couldn’t stop thinking about her. That was the problem. I sat alone in my room, staring at the darkness beyond the window. All I could think about was Aria. Her laugh. Her smile. The way she’d curled against me when she was tired. The way she’d looked at me after we’d kissed. The way she’d trusted me enough to come to me when she was afraid. Those memories had become dangerous.Because now there was Jasper. Her mate. The word kept repeating in my head. I hated how much it bothered me. Not because I hated Jasper. Not because I thought Aria had done something wrong. But because I knew what the word meant.A mate wasn’t simply a boyfriend. It wasn’t some temporary relationship. It was a bond recognized by our world. A connection that was supposed to last forever. That meant I had to ask myself the question I’d been avoiding. Where did that leave me?I closed my eyes. Aria had told me nothing changed. But everything had changed. Before Jasper, I could pretend that whateve

  • The Girl with the Violet Eyes    The morning after

Aria’s POV:I woke up warm. That was the first thing I noticed. The second was the arm wrapped securely around my waist. I smiled before I even opened my eyes. The memory of last night came rushing back, followed by the strange, beautiful feeling that still hummed beneath my skin. The bond. My mate. I turned slowly in his arms. His silver hair was a mess against the pillow, and for once, the effortlessly perfect fae heir looked completely human. His eyes opened. The second he saw me, he smiled.“Good morning, little nightmare.”I laughed softly. “Good morning.”He pulled me closer. I settled against his chest. We didn’t speak for a while. We didn’t need to. I could feel the warmth of his emotions through the bond. His happiness. His disbelief. His overwhelming affection. It was almost dizzying.“You’re really my mate,” I whispered. His fingers traced slowly along my arm.“You’re really mine.”Something fluttered in my chest. I smiled brightly. “That still sounds strange.”“Good stran
