Syria’s POV

My door opened suddenly, and I leaped back in shock as Novene and Bennett entered.

"What are you doing here? What do you want?" I demanded.

Novene approached me slowly. I prepared myself, thinking she was going to hurt me again. After all the things she did, I wasn't going to trust her that easily.

Yet, instead of hurting me, she put her hand on my shoulder softly. The touch took me by surprise.

“I know you're bored in here," she said. "You've been locked in this room for days, and I know Father still hasn't given back your phone."

I didn't say anything. I just looked at her, trying to see where this was headed.

"Why don't you come with us to the banquet tonight?" she suggested with a small smile.

I blinked rapidly, completely baffled. Banquet? Why was I suddenly being shown this decency? This was nonsense. There was something fishy about all this.
