Syria’s POV

“I’m only letting you go right now,” Uncle said in a flat tone.

“Because I want Syria to be alone here in the chamber. I’m disappointed in you. Deeply disappointed, Bennett. And don’t think this is the end of the punishment I have prepared for you.”

Bennett didn’t back away. Instead, he stepped forward, closing the distance between him and Uncle. His shoulders squared, but you could tell he was forcing himself to stay calm.

“Father, you can’t leave Syria like this,” Bennett said firmly. “That’s why I’m here. Let me help her.”

Uncle slowly turned his head and gave him a sharp look. “And what exactly do you think you can do to help?”

“Stay out of this. Go upstairs!”

Bennett shook his head, refusing to back down. His jaw tightened as he looked his father straight in the eyes.

“Father, if Syria dies here, there will be no one left to represent the marriage alliance. She needs medical attention. We can’t just leave her in this condition. Please… let me redeem myself.”
