Kael’s POV

"Kael, where are you heading?! Why are you hurrying again?!"

I halted in my steps when my brother unexpectedly blocked my path.

His composure was serious. I released a deep, weary sigh and looked into his eyes.

"Didn't I ask you to relax and carefully consider this before reacting?" he remarked.

Silently, he reached into his pocket and took out a cigarette. He passed it to me nonchalantly.

"Here. Pick one."

I gazed at it for a brief moment. The mere scent of it transported me to those evenings I spent smoking on the rooftop, engulfed in my own turmoil.

But now… I shook my head.

“Sorry. I don’t want to get into that again.”

He lifted an eyebrow, clearly not used to hearing that from me.

“Why is that? Is it because of her?"

I didn’t respond. I didn’t need to. He already knew the answer.

He laughed softly, not to ridicule me but rather from astonishment.

“Wow. You’re really changing for her, huh?”

I remained silent.

“Let’s go,” he said, tapping my shoulder.
