Chapter 9

The Governor's Son Chapter 9

"SO…. DO YOU have any plans this coming afternoon?" Sunshine inquires as they're walking past the road inside the University of the Philippines, Diliman campus.

Angelito sighed. "Let's go at a bar? I want to drink—"

"You must not, don't you remember; you have a summon to deal with maybe tomorrow or the other day," Dennis reminds his friend, but he is silently walking with his papers.

Angelito is uneasy; thus, he doesn't want to show it to his friend. Sunshine smiles at him when she stops in his front. "Come on, I will support you, but we need to drink moderately because like Dennis said… that brat don't want to let you go," she teases, and he blushes.

Don Angelito smiles too when hearing she agrees to go drink with him. She wraps her arms onto him then they both go—leaving Dennis behind.

"Sunshine … Angelito?!" he runs to catch them, but her girlfriend puts her hand on his chest as his heart beats fast.

"You said you don't want to drink with us because you're so worried about that brat. The Don must not be stress out… look how handsome he is," Sunshine mocks them both, but Dennis accepts his defeat.

"I still have money. My treat—"

"Are you sure?" Angelito curiously pestered. His best friend stands proud on his ground. "Of course! I got a call from gov to process some papers and I did it. He gave me a compensation," Dennis pompously brags his money.

Angelito chuckles. "How much?" Dennis flinches.

"Ahh…. About five thousand," he responded shyly, but his girlfriend supports him all the way, small or big.

"Keep it, you moron. We will have something big coming too," Angelito discloses as Sunshine blink her eyes twice, gazing at him. As they walk and have a little bit of chat, the Don speaks.

"I will be looking for a girlfriend too."

The two looks at him plainly with a slacking jaw. They thought it was something essential and thrilling.

"What if they don't back down?" Sunshine asked.

"I don't know. Father will take care, but he said I need to clean the kid—"

"Seriously? He's so cute when I saw him the last time. Tsk! Such a waste of cutie in this world. By the way, let's drink at your place so we will have some private talk."

THE THREE went and then bought beers in moderation while enjoying summer vacation. They submerge the beer on the Styrofoam to keep it chill all the time.

Angelito opens up the bottle because he misses the taste of alcohol.

"I heard that Alexandre is going to investigate further about his case." Dennis drinks some beer, but Angelito stays silent while looking at his watch.

"I'm thrilled about that passionate prosecutor. I think he is also hiding something dark down his abyss. We can't be retaliate as long as we're inside the governor's circle," Sunshine frankly utters before getting some food to eat. She sits down beneath the handsome Don.

"Babe? I'm getting jealous about your clinginess with Don," Dennis worriedly said because Sunshine has liked the Don since then, but he chose Dennis over him.

Angelito is so busy and has many things to do because of his scary father.

He laughs lightly. "Don't worry. I'm not interested in girls—I mean not interested with her."

Dennis' eyes are about to pop out. The same goes with Sunshine when he slips. Angelito is thinking straight, but he cannot get off Denver on his mind.

"Come again, you fucker?"

"I heard it right, Don! Oh my gosh!" She gasped, covering her mouth not to burst out in laughter since the Don offended easily. His best friend crawls to him and then shakes his shoulders.

"Don't tell me you like that cute Denver?"

"Oh! I-I get it now! Shit, I love a handsome top and a cute bottom," Sunshine teases him more. His ears are turning red when hearing their insults, but indirect support for their friend.

Angelito drinks the bottle of beer straight. His two friends are dumbfounded when he wipes his mouth and opens another one. Sunshine grabs his hand to halt him from drinking it again.

"C-Calm down, Angel. We're not here to laugh and judge you when you feel that way. It's been four years when you broke up with your girlfriend…."

Dennis moistens his lips to look at him directly. He breathes deeply. "Don…. Don't tell me it's Denver that hooked your heart? It's absurd—"

Sunshine covers his mouth to silence his nonsense. Angelito instantly feels hopeless because of his father's plan. He must keep it to himself, Medina and Don Pablo.

"Maybe it's destiny that he would be your substitute? And I remember your story when you're fifteen nearly seven years ago that you have a friend at your hacienda. I wonder where he is?"

Dennis takes off her hand, wrapping it in his mouth. Such a blockage for his silence.

"What did you do when I left you the last time? Did the two of you…." He encircles his finger and slit one finger.

Angelito pressed his lips, avoiding laughing. He whines. "Not a chance. It's not my thing to just stick my dick inside someone's ass."

Sunshine laughs at them because talking about dirty jokes is somewhat fun for killing the jaded vibe.

He remembers Denver again. And Angelito keeps on drinking for a while.

"I don't know, but I keep on looking at him. After that wild fire…. He vanished without leaving any vestige for me to find him. I can barely knew he as Dev because his mother and father called him so. It's been six years, and I don't know his face… he's my first love."

His best friend, Dennis and Sunshine, knew it all along because he says it countless times when he's drunk. Probably, the alcohol is taking place inside his body because he is sharing the same story again.

Sunshine smiles halfway when looking at his reddish face. It's been a while since Angelito opened up again. He's been through many troubles after he turned seventeen because of his wicked and greedy father.

"Dennis?" Sunshine utters to get his mere attention.

"I think this is enough? Don is now drunk because he drink too much," she's worried about their situation because Angelito is tired, stressed and worried about Denver's case.

"I-I don't want to do this job anymore…." Angelito mutters while craning his neck. He is breathing fine, but his tears flow when he is drunk.

Dennis hugs him since his vulnerability starts to settle in. However, he cannot resent all he has done in the past for it to be buried six feet below the ground.

The Don is sobbing but still holding a bottle of beer in his hand. Sunshine takes it out on his frail hand.

"I'm sorry to drag the two o-of you in this world. It's my fault," he keeps on talking and later on, he will forget what he said in this hour.

Sunshine kisses her head and then hugs him too tightly. There's no comfort in the truth for them. Nevertheless, they're all criminals in the first place—studying law to take advantage of loopholes. They've joined the legal team, and there's no going back because Don Pablo had the power to control everything.

"You've done so much, Angel. You need to submerge yourself in the things, which will make you happy. We're always here for you," Dennis whispers as he rubs his friend's back. Angelito snores for a few seconds.

He supports his heavy body up to his bed. Dennis puts him and covers his body with a thick blanket. They both clean the mess before leaving his apartment.

Sunshine went to him and then kissed his forehead. "Sleep well, Angel. We love you so much." Dennis holds her hand, and they lock the apartment to leave him in deep slumber in his temporary delusion of a perfect world.

THE NIGHT FALLS fast, and the handsome Don wakes up with a growling stomach. He sees his empty apartment again—living all alone. He is holding his head before strolling to the comfort room.

He washes his face as he looks at his reflection in the mirror. That two bastards made me drunk and left again.

Moreoer, there is an inevitable part in his soul, which makes him smile. He's so blessed to have had two supportive friends since high school.

Angelito goes outside to eat at a casual restaurant. On the other hand, Dennis sent a message.

From: Dennis

[You keep on talking the same story, you moron. Haha, by the way, keep safe.]

Angelito never had a hankering for dancing his fingers on the keyboard and urging to reply. However, when he is going near the restaurant. His phone rings and vibrates in his hand, walking to a corner and accepting Medina's call.

"Yes?"

“Buenas noches, Don Angelito. Let me remind you, they will be here tomorrow so be prepared about the negotiation," Lotus surprised him this night time.

"Is that so?"

"Uhm. Are you fine? It feels like you've just woke up," he asked him, but Angelito chuckles sexily.

"Yeah. We drink some beer at my place. Nothing special."

"Oh! I'm happy for you to have supportive friends. Please go here tomorrow morning at nine because she changed the schedule since she needs to work."

Angelito sighs heavily when hearing his excuses. He looks at the busy highway on his right side. The city's been so busy… Angelito thinks about when it would rest for a little bit, like him.

"I got it, thank you Lotus. If they don't settle, you know what to do."
