Chapter 3

I wouldn’t call what I had on a revenge dress, but right from the lobby entrance into the midst of the guests present for the premise of tonight’s function. I’ve been the center of a particular attraction.

Admiration that is, pure and unfiltered admiration. Audible gasps flew past my ears, and subtle remarks of regards was no far behind.

I haven’t laid my eyes on my soon to be ex-husband yet. I’m guessing he’s yet to arrive, but I took to the taste of champagne to keep me company.

A man approached, and I observe him under a keen gaze. He was attractive, dressed neatly or nicely. He would’ve looked really better had he gel that rough hair of his.

“I’m Ford by name, you look too pretty to be alone by yourself.” He curved a small smirk right after his sentence before his figure came to halt right in front of him.

I purposely eyed him from the string of his hair right down to the leather shoes he had on. It was to test his ego.

“I’m waiting for my husband,” I retorted, and then fully flicked my attention away from him.

“Let me rephrase. I’m Ford Myers. Myers’ Corp.” He said like that was suppose to make a difference.

My intention to snub him was abducted when the cagey chatters that filled the room went still. I looked ahead and saw who was making an entrance.

It was my husband. Samir Kane, and right beside him was Rose Ledgers.

Awe paled into my face as my lips parted in a silent gasp. I know that girl.

Not only was she the bane of my life back in high school, she was also Samir’s girlfriend- no. They were rumored to be dating then, but it was never confirmed. They loved referring themselves as friends all the time.

Compliments began to pool in about their appearance, how they looked so beautiful and perfect together.

And they were factual. They do look so beautiful together.

“That’s definitely Mr Kane’s mysterious wife. Gosh they look so heavenly.” A comment brushed at my ears and I cringed inward.

I didn’t wait for them to fully settle and began interacting with the function before I set into motion to come do exactly what I was here for.

I stopped when I’ve reached a space right behind them. He was currently introducing Rose to probably one of his clients as a good friend of his when I cut into the relation with a throaty cough.

They were forced to stop as their attention fell on me.

“Wow,” I faked a bright smile. “You both look the most stunning,” I said as I brought my arms up on my chest.

I watched as Samir’s gaze slowly darkened as he threw eye daggers. “What are you doing here?” The words filtered out from his growing anger.

My smile didn’t falter. “To meet the other woman since you won’t tell me.” I took my eyes off him to inspect the bitch at his side.

I gave her a dirty look before I scoffed out loud. “She was not what I expected.” I shook my head disappointedly.

“Who is this?” Her annoying pitch of a voice quested. Exactly like how I remembered it, she never grew out of the stupid voice.

“Oh wait. Is this the pathetic wife of yours you said you were married to?” She gazed at me funny, also inspecting me with a dirty look like I did to her.

“That poor piece of trash you told me was sitting lonely in a cafe until you decided to help her life?”

“The lazy bitch with no fortune to depend on except for yours?”

“The one you couldn’t let go of because you pity her too much?” She stared me down as she continuously dig words at me.

Samir just stood there, silent as he allowed his mistress sprout lies about me. Does he not know me?

The scene was beginning to draw attention and people were now starting to stare.

“You’re just gonna stand there and watch her speak lies on my name?” I questioned with my eyes focused on the jerk I married for an husband.

“I’m asking, what are you doing here?” He sidestepped my question to throw another one at me.

“Probably to cause a scene. She’s a local nobody with no name who has fallen in love with the luxury you were offering her, and now that you’ve decided to take it away. She doesn’t want that, or am I lying?” She answered for me, at the course of berating me.

I looked around and noticed we were now the center of attention. All eyes were now on us.

“You think I need his money to survive? You think I’m with him because of his wealth?” I laughed out loud. “I see you’re still as stupid as I’ve always known you to be. But I can come back to you later.” I waved at her dismissively as my gaze settled back on Samir.

“Now you, my dear husband. Are her words what you really think of me?” I had to ask, because all I could deduce from Rose’s mockery were hints of the image my husband had of me.

Does he really think I’m a lazy bitch? That I was lonely and pathetic?

“I’m not interested in doing this with you, Rahne. Tell me you’ve signed the papers and get the hell out of here to save yourself from whatever you’re about to cause.”

A soft gasp ripped through my throat. I couldn’t believe this. His response, cold and cruel. His words, cautious and emotionless.

“What could a greedy nobody like her cause even? Who is she to think she could just waltz in here and start a drama? Huh? Get out of here before I make you!”

I was too heartbroken to even forge a reaction against Rose. I just stared, sad and betrayed at the eyes of the man behind the attack on my heart.

“Are you deaf? I’m talking to you!”

The next I felt was the cold spill of a drink splashed down on me. The scent a sharp smell of champagne.

The reality in front of me shrank and the air grew dark and thin. I lost balance and my grip on consciousness.

Chapter 22 Samir Kane’s standpoint I’ve never doubted Mike. He’s proficient and truly has never failed me before. I closed up the text received from him that he’s gotten my task done, attached with a pictorial proof and the address where she’s been safely taken to. I was driving home before, but I had to make a turn after resetting the location sent to me on my map for navigation. Rose call suddenly came in. I saw it and chose to ignore. Whatever she has to say to me can wait, and I’m sure it wouldn’t be important anyways. The call rang out only to started ringing again. I rolled my eyes. “Of course she wouldn’t stop at the first snub!” I groaned as I dimmed the ringing’s volume to a silent degree so my ears wouldn’t have to deal with it. There. She could call as much as she wants and it wouldn’t bother me. …………………… I arrived at the apartment and I couldn’t help but feel a little shaky at the thought of facing my ex-wife. I divorced her. I let her go, and now I just did every

Chapter 21Rahne’s point of view I didn’t want to believe what was obvious. No! This might simply be a trick, a false set up to make me play her game. Dread rushed through me as I dialed in Kingston’s number. I paced round the room, waiting for him to pick up so I could be assured that he’s safe but nobody picked the call till it eventually rang out. I redialed him again and it was the same. “Oh god!” My panic shot up at an alarming speed as I decided to phone Gale instead. Perhaps he’d be aware of Kingston’s whereabout. Gale answered on the first ring. “Hello,” “Have you heard from Kingston?” I went straight to the point. “What’s going on? Why are you asking? What’s happening?” His worry must’ve kicked in at the heard of my shaky voice and the nervousness in my tone. “You need to find out where he is. I don’t think he’s safe, please find out and call me back right now!” “Okay I will, but you need to tell me what’s going on first? Why are you worried about our brother? Shoul

  • The Heiress He Never Loved    Chapter 20

Chapter 20Rahne’s point of view It’s past 2pm already , and if it hadn’t been for the alarm I set. I would’ve forgotten about my date with my anonymous stalker. I rushed up the remains with work to finish up tomorrow as I rounded up for the day. Clark already informed me about the new date picked for my interview, and that’s on Friday of this week. I should be prepared by then. I arrived at the parking lot where both my bodyguards and driver were. The driver was about to go start the car while my guard opened the door for me. “Wait!” I shouted at the driver. “Hand the keys over!” I instructed with my palm stretched out. “There’s someone I need to visit alone,” I told him upon viewing his hesitation to comply. He slowly brought the keys out to place gently on my laid out palm. “Thanks, but I won’t be needing both of your services for the rest of today,” I said to the both of them as I closed the door opened for my entrance and strutted off to take the wheels. I drove past thei

Chapter 19Rahne’s point of view Although my brothers would like for us to proceed straight for dad’s funeral, but I had to oppose and suggest that an autopsy be conducted first before anything. I needed the assessment for when I start building my case against this Celia and her accomplices. I haven’t received any more texts from my anonymous cyber stalker since the last she gave me yesterday, and it was today already which meant that her time for me is almost up. This morning was supposedly the period scheduled for my interview with the city’s elite news network, but I had to let Clark postpone because I wasn’t in the right headspace to handle a conversation for the public right now. I once again busied myself with hundreds of documents detailing the company’s operations. I found a particular file labeled with a name I’m all to familiar with. Samir Kane? We’re affiliated with Samir Kane? This company is doing business with him? I ripped open the file as I began to read through

  • The Heiress He Never Loved    Chapter 18

Chapter 18 Samir Kane’s standpoint “Oh God!” I gasped as google pasted out the details about the name typed into the search bar. It’s the middle of the night so there’s no Rose to come in and hound me at anytime. She’s asleep and didn’t even realize when I left her side. She’s the last child and only daughter to Hiram Addams. Hiram! She isn’t just a random lady. She’s far from random or pathetic. Her father owns this city. Her family are the city’s royalty. Wait how come I never knew this about her or anyone? She attended the same public high school as me and no one knew she’s related to the city’s richest tycoon. “Fuck! This is fucked!” My teeth gritted out as I slapped on my desk. I thought I was married to a leech and had no idea she wasn’t at all anything I’ve deemed her to be. Infact if she had been recognized as my wife, probably half the city’s moguls would wish to deal business with me. She truly must have loved me. And now that I’ve got to know that she’s been in love

  • The Heiress He Never Loved    Chapter 17

Chapter 17 Rahne’s point of view I’d already given the Celia picture I could find to the best trackers I’m acquainted with. I’m going to find her. Wherever is it she took off to. She won’t murder my father due to her greediness and escape justice. Never! I gather all my father’s staffs. My dad has been feeding on poison all these while and one of them should’ve been in charge of his meal. “My father is dead,” I kicked off my conversation with them once they were all together and present with me at the mansion’s lobby. “He died to a poison. A rare type that was continuously fed to him!” Gasps interrupted my speech while most of them instantly broke into tears. “Who was in charge of my father’s meals?” I asked, because whoever that person is must be in alliance with Celia somehow. “The new Madam instructed us all to leave his caring to her. She was the one cooking for him and attending to his welfares.” One of them spoke up to me in between weeping and giving me a response. My
