Hailey’s POV

The heat hit me before I even stepped out of the car, it slammed into my skin like a warning, thick and suffocating, carrying the sharp smell of smoke and burning metal. My lungs tightened as I inhaled, the air heavy with ash.

In front of us—Fire.

The entire building was engulfed.

Flames roared through the windows, wild and merciless, devouring everything inside. Thick black smoke curled into the sky, swallowing the night whole.

Sirens screamed around us, fire trucks lined the stre

  • The Hidden Heiress Returns    No Way Out

POV: HaileyThe car hadn’t fully stopped before I opened the door.“Hailey—” Kingsley’s voice came sharp behind me.“I’m not waiting,” I said, stepping out.Cold night air hit my face, but it didn’t calm the storm inside me. If anything, it made everything sharper and clearer.Tonight, this ends tonight.Footsteps followed me quickly. Kingsley caught up in seconds, grabbing my wrist—not harsh, but firm enough to stop me.“You don’t rush into something like this,” he said, his voice low but tight with control. “Not when we don’t know all the variables.”I turned to him.“We know enough,” I said. “He’s moving everything. If we miss this, I become his shield forever.”His jaw tightened.“That’s exactly why you shouldn’t be the one walking in first.”I held his gaze.“And who should?” I asked quietly. “You?”He didn’t answer because he couldn’t.We both knew the truth, this was mine.“I’m not going in there as a victim this time,” I said, my voice steady despite the pounding in my chest.

  • The Hidden Heiress Returns    The Unexpected Ally

POV: HaileyI stopped walking. My body refused to move, like my feet had been nailed to the ground. The air inside the hideout suddenly felt too thick, too heavy, like I was breathing through water. The figure stepped forward in a slow, calm and unbothered manner. The dim light above flickered once, then steadied—and his face came into view.My heart slammed hard against my ribs.“No…” I whispered.Kingsley moved instantly, stepping in front of me, his arm slightly stretched out like a barrier. “Don’t come any closer.”His voice was low, dangerous and protective. The man didn’t stop immediately, but he didn’t look threatened either. If anything, he looked… tired.“I’m not here to fight,” he said. That voice, I knew that voice. My fingers curled into my palm, nails digging into my skin. “You should be dead.”Silence fell.Behind me, I could feel Brandson tense. I didn’t need to look at him to know his expression had darkened.Kingsley didn’t lower his guard. “Explain yourself. Now.”Th

  • The Hidden Heiress Returns    The One He Didn't Burn

POV: HaileyThe car hummed quietly as we drove through the empty streets, the city lights blurring past like streaks of fire and ice. My hands rested on my lap, but they weren’t still. Every nerve in my body was on edge. Kingsley sat beside me, silent, jaw tight, eyes scanning the darkness outside the window. Behind him, the tech team worked in tense silence, the only sound the occasional click of a mouse, the low hum of machines, and the faint whir of the laptop fan.The burnt drive—our fragile, charred thread of hope—sat in front of them. I could feel the weight of it, heavier than steel. If this failed, if nothing came out of it… I didn’t want to imagine.“Come on…” I muttered under my breath, even though no one heard me.The screen flickered, static danced across the edges like fire licking ice. Then, faintly at first, a face appeared.Daniel.My stomach dropped. His eyes, tired and haunted, stared directly into the camera, as if he could see me through time and space. My hands tr

Thick black smoke curled into the sky, swallowing the night whole.Sirens screamed around us, fire trucks lined the street, men shouted orders.Water sprayed in powerful streams against the inferno, but it felt useless.Too late, we were too late.I stepped forward slowly, my feet feeling heavier with every step.“This is it…” I whispered.Kingsley moved beside me, his eyes fixed on the building.Brandson followed close behind, tense and alert.“This was Daniel’s backup,” I said, my voice shaking despite how hard I tried to steady it.My chest tightened painfully.“This is where he kept the truth.”The flames cra

  • The Hidden Heiress Returns    The Race Against The Fire

Hailey’s POVThe sirens were getting louder. They wailed somewhere beyond the metal walls of the hangar, rising and falling like a warning that the night was far from over. The sound crawled under my skin, mixing with the sharp smell of gunpowder still hanging in the air.My ears were still ringing from the shots.Janet lay unconscious a few feet away, her blood staining the concrete beneath her hand. One of Kingsley’s men had wrapped a rough bandage around it to slow the bleeding.Nobody spoke for several seconds, everyone seemed to be waiting for someone else to move first.Kingsley ended the silence.“We have to leave.”His voice was low but firm.Brandson immediately turned toward him.“Leave?” he snapped. “You turn this place into a battlefield and now you want to leave?”Kingsley’s expression didn’t change.“The police will be here in less than two minutes.”As if to prove his point, the sirens grew louder again.Closer.Brandson clenched his jaw.“Maybe that’s exactly where we

  • The Hidden Heiress Returns    The Shot That Wasn't Meant For Me

Hailey’s POVThe click of the gun echoed louder than it should have. For one suspended second the entire hangar felt like it stopped breathing.Janet’s finger tightened on the trigger. My chest locked, my body refused to move. The barrel of the gun looked enormous from where I stood, dark and hollow, pointed straight at my heart. This was how it was going to end, not in some dramatic battle, not in some heroic stand. But here. In a cold abandoned hangar, staring into the shaking hands of a woman who hated me enough to pull the trigger.Janet’s voice trembled.“You don’t understand… he made me do it.”My throat felt dry.“Janet,” I said quietly. Her eyes flickered.“Don’t.”Her finger tightened further.Robert stood behind her with the calm patience of a man watching a show he had already seen before.“Finish it,” he said softly. The gun fired. The explosion of sound ripped through the hangar like lightning, instinct finally took over.Brandson slammed into me, the force knocked the ai
