Chapter 34: An event for the lost, found & unfound.

"Rain, rain," I heard Madison call.

I looked at her, sitting opposite me around the dining table.

"Didn't you want fry sausage as well for your dinner since you love it?" she asked.

I gazed at her with a heavy pain in my heart. I wanted to be mad at her for burning the book that was the closest thing I had about my pack and learning about them, but she destroyed it because my mom and her ex, my dad, had fallen in love. I couldn't express my anger to her; she would be suspicious of my reaction to that book, and my secret could be out in the open.

"Rain, Rain," Madison again called, seeing I wasn't answering her.

"Fry sausage is fine." I finally retorted and took a bite at the sausage.

Madison smiled at me and continued to eat.

Dinner was over; she took the dishes and went into the kitchen.

I went upstairs and laid in bed.

Crushed, I watched as the fire consumed every page, leaving me with no hope of learning about my kind. The fire consumed every page.
