I woke up the next morning to the sound of Leah and Zubby rushing to class. My head was pounding, and for a minute, I panicked over the thought of them leaving me behind.

Then I suddenly remembered, that wasn’t my life anymore. Not from now on at least. I’d made a deal with the devil, and now I was safe from everything and everyone.

Except him.

I sat up on my bed, rubbing my eyes.

Leah was giving me suspicious looks from her corner of the room, and Zubby looked even bitchier than usual. Once Zubby disappeared into the bathroom, Leah crept over to my side of the room.

“Dabere, where did you go last night?”

I blinked up at her. “Huh?”

“We didn’t see you,” Leah continued. “After the party.”

“Ohh,” I muttered. “I thought you guys said you wouldn’t be responsible for me.”

“Well, yeah. But you’re a girl and…well, we were worried.” Leah said. Then she sighed. “Well, mostly Zubby but still.”

My eyes widened in shock. “Zubby was worried??” I asked.
