*POV=DABERE*
We jumped, and all the air in my lungs disappeared. I unconsciously held onto him as we fell. I couldn’t think, couldn’t breathe as the wind slapped against my ears and face.
But suddenly, I started hearing a sound as we slowed. It was a brutal, stone splitting crack, followed by a jagged, grinding scrrrrrkkkkkk that echoed in my teeth. Like someone dragging a rake down a wall made of bone and gravel.
And it felt like he was holding onto something that was gently lowering us to the ground. But there wasn’t a metal railing or a rope in sight…and that sound…
Suddenly, I felt us stop. I was still grabbing onto him, too afraid to even open my eyes. But he gently lowered me to the ground and I stood, too terrified to speak.
How on earth had we survived falling down from a five story building?? How the hell were we still alive???
Suddenly, my eyes landed on the wall of the building, and I saw large marks like claws that had scraped against the wall from where we’d just fallen.
My mind blanked out for a second, struggling to understand how on earth that had gotten there just now. I instinctively looked at my savior’s arm and it appeared normal. Larger than life, but normal regardless. Then I noticed the left arm of his jacket was ripped to shreds.
I could’ve sworn his jacket had been normal moments ago. How had the fall just now ripped it that badly? What the hell was happening??
“You okay?” He suddenly asked, peering down at me, his golden eyes searching my face.
His question caught me off guard and I flinched. But for some reason, his eyes seemed to have a calming effect on me.
“I’m fine,” I barely breathed out, still terrified. “T-thank y—”
“They’re alive!!”
Panic pierced my soul as I heard Cain’s voice from the top of the building. He was staring down at us, with the most vile look in his eyes.
He aimed the barrel of his gun down at us and pulled the trigger. A crack split through the night, but the man pulled me away from the building before I could blink, and the bullet pierced the concrete.
“Get them!! Don’t let them escape!!!”
Cain’s voice rang through the still night as we both ran. I could already hear their footsteps chasing after us in the distance, but the man’s grip on my arm remained steady as he pulled me with him.
Suddenly, we got to a dark alleyway and he shoved me against the wall. I almost let out a yelp before his hand covered my mouth.
“Sshhhhhh” he whispered, staring down at me before looking into the open streets. I watched as Cain and his men ran past us, fuming at the mouth and so enraged that they didn’t even bother with hiding their guns.
My breathing quickened as panic swelled in my chest, but my savior seemed to notice because he suddenly turned to stare down at me, his eyes even more golden than before, and far too bright for the darkness that surrounded us.
I stared back, unable to look away. How the hell was he doing that?
He suddenly leaned away from me and let out a breath.
“You should be safe now,” He muttered, barely panting despite the fact that we’d practically been running for miles now. I knew because I recognized this street, we were dangerously close to my home.
My breath suddenly quickened. Ohh god, what if Cain was going to my father? What if he was going to kill him??
“I have to go,” I said in panic as I made my way past him, the only thought in my head being the image of my father.
“What?” He asked. “You can’t. It’s too dangerous right now.”
“They’re going to kill my father.” I cried, already running out of the alleyway.
“No, wait!”
I blinked and suddenly, I saw the barrel of Cain’s gun pointed at me. It took a few seconds for the sight before me to even register.
“I knew you wouldn’t be stupid enough to run home to your old man,” Cain said as he forced me back into the dark alleyway. “I knew all I had to do was watch closely and you’d pop out when you thought the coast was clear.”
Fear tore my being to shreds, and I instinctively turned around, only to find that my savior was no longer standing where I’d left him. I stood frozen in place, unable to move or make a sound as I stared at the empty space behind me.
He was….gone?
Gone??
My body trembled, despite the fact that it was like the realization was refusing to register.
No. No. No. I’d just escaped. I’d just—he was right here. He…he couldn’t just disappear into thin air…no he couldn’t just be gone like that.
Suddenly, the dark alleyway filled with Cain’s men. They’d been cackling before at the laundromat but now, they looked like they were past the point of rage.
“Looks like your boyfriend left.” Cain said, stepping closer. “I was hoping to riddle his brain with bullets, but you’ll take them in your pretty legs instead, so you never walk again.” He ran a hand through his hair as his lips curled into a menacing grin. “Got a guy to throw a few punches and run away huh? He runs fast, I’ll give him that. Shame he won’t be fast enough when I make you my bitch and force your old man to watch.”
Cain made to grab my arm, but I slipped on the concrete in my attempt to dodge it. I expected to land on the floor when familiar large arms caught me by the waist and held me there.
I looked up as hope and fear burst in my lungs, and found myself gazing at the golden eyes of my savior, and he wasn’t even looking at me.
“Y-you’re back?” I barely whispered.
“Never left,” He replied, his gaze still fixed on Cain and his men as he pulled me behind him.
Cain’s face twisted in rage as he immediately pulled out his gun, aimed it at him, and fired.
A gust of wind followed and I stood for a moment, terrified that the bullet had landed. But I suddenly realized that Cain’s gun was now pointed towards the sky…. my savior had redirected the barrel just in time. He grabbed Cain by the arm, twisted it and slammed his face several times into the wall.
The other men raised their guns and began firing away at him. I felt something pierce my arm and a sharp pain, but it barely registered as my eyes stayed glued to the man before me. He flung Cain aside and sped towards them in human defying speed, knocking their guns down and knocking them out so fast that the only thing I saw was a blur before I heard bones shattering and quick, painful groans before they fell to the ground.
In a moment, every single one of them was on the floor, unconscious and bleeding. Cain was the only one who could still move.
“I’ll get you for this!” Cain hissed as he tried to back away by pulling himself across the ground on his good arm. “I’ll make you fucking pay!! Remember this face!”
The man walked up towards Cain, grabbed him by the collar, raising him up from the ground.
“You’re lucky I’m not allowed to kill,” He muttered, before slamming his fist several times into Cain’s face. Each punch reverberated in my ear drums, the sound of knuckles against bone, flesh and blood. I couldn’t move. My ears were still ringing from the earlier gunshots, my knees barely holding me up. And yet all I could do was watch him.
It was only when Cain’s features became unrecognizable and a few teeth were missing that he stopped.
He let go of Cain, who landed on the ground with a thud, before he turned slowly to stare at me.
“You okay?” He asked, his voice surprisingly calm and cool in spite of everything.
I couldn’t reply. My legs were trembling underneath me and I found it impossible to form words. Suddenly, I felt tears cascading down my cheeks as I stared at the man who had just saved my life.
“You must be in a lot of shock,” He said casually, making his way towards me. I could barely see his face, but he seemed young, probably in his late twenties.
“T-thank you,” I muttered, my voice heavy with sorrow and fear but more than anything else, an overwhelming sense of relief.
He paused, then stared down at me. “You’re welcome,” He muttered in reply as he slowly began to take off his jacket.
The night air was chilly. Was he taking it off to keep me warm? No, no he’d already done so much. There was no way I’d let him do that as well.
I looked up to tell him to stop, only to realize he was suddenly frozen in place mid jacket removal, staring at me with so much shock and horror in his gaze that I flinched.
“W-what’s wrong?” I asked, my heart suddenly beating faster.
He remained frozen like a statue for a few seconds longer, before he started making his way towards me, taking off his jacket completely in the process and throwing it around me.
He stared at me for a few seconds longer, like something was horribly wrong. Suddenly, he grabbed me by the arm and violently pulled me towards him.
“You’re bleeding.” he said, his eyes wide like the realization alone meant death.
“What?” I replied, then looked down at my arm, and realized I was bleeding profusely from where a bullet had grazed me.
My eyes widened. I’d been in so much shock that I hadn’t even noticed.
I looked up at him. “I’ll take care of it when I get home. You don’t have to worry, you’ve done more than enough.” I said reassuringly, then tried to pull my hand away so I could wipe off the blood when his grip tightened dangerously.
I stood, confused as to why he was staring down at my arm like that, when I saw it.
Those golden eyes of his that shone even brighter under the moonlight, slowly turned red, like blood spreading across molten gold.
Panic and fear ripped through my soul as I stared, unable to pull away from his grip, unable to move or even scream. I could almost hear my heart pounding in my ears as something large and furry wrapped around my waist and pulled me close to him, close enough for my nose to touch his broad, hard chest.
It took a moment for me to realize that it was a tail. A tail large enough to wrap itself around my waist firmly and cover me with fur from my legs to just below my chest.
Panic swole in my chest, threatening to burst out of me. He wasn’t human. Ohh god, he wasn’t human. And he’d probably done all of this just so he could devour me right after. Right from the very beginning, I’d been nothing but prey.
I looked up at him, a scream burbling at the back of my throat, my arm trembling so much it could’ve fallen off. His mouth opened, and a pair of fangs glistened under the moonlight. I was sure I’d scream. Any moment now, it would rip out of me and into the night. But just before it could, he pulled me even closer, tilted my arm enough so he could clearly see the part coated with blood, stuck out his tongue, and ran it across the length of my bloody arm.
Instead of a scream, a gasp escaped my lips as a jolt of electricity ran down my arm and up my spine. His tongue dragged across my arm in slow, reverent licks, hot and slow and I shuddered violently.
His eyes were closed shut as he groaned against my arm, his hot breath fanning my skin as he licked the blood of me like it was the finest wine, like it was an elixir of pleasure and eternal life.
It should have felt revolting, disgusting, appalling. But it wasn’t. It felt like fire and lightning had kissed my spine.
Suddenly, his tail came undone around my waist and his arm replaced it, holding me firmly, crushing me against his hard, suddenly furry chest and all of a sudden, I forgot how to breathe.
I panted as pleasure mounted with each lick, with each soft, pleasured groan that escaped his lips every time he swallowed and stuck out his tongue for yet another lick. When most of the blood was gone, his lips came down on my arm, sucking and licking at whatever remnants of my blood he could find.
My knees buckled, but he held me upright. My fingers curled into his shirt, whether to push him away or hold on, I didn’t know. All I could feel was heat. Licks of it. Every drag of his tongue unraveling something inside of me.
And I couldn’t breathe.
Suddenly, he was breathing faster, his breath even warmer as it fanned against my skin. His chest heaved like he was barely taking in air as his grip on my arm tightened.
“Fuck,” He let out, crushing me even harder against himself as he stared at my arm. Panic and pleasure swirled inside of me as I stared into his beastly eyes as they turned an even darker shade of red.
“More,” he growled, his grip tightening, his chest heaving. “Fuck, more.”
Suddenly, he drew back his lips from his teeth, his fangs glinting under the moonlight once more, and brought it down on my arm.
I yelped in fear and panic and he froze, his fangs barely grazing my skin. For the first time, his eyes found mine, and it felt like I was staring into a pool of molten gold and lava.
Suddenly, he had a horrified expression on his face as he pulled away from me. In that moment, my heart dropped as I saw his fingers extend into claws. His legs morphed into powerful, beastly limbs, covered completely in dark fur.
He clutched the walls as he buried his face in his wolfish hands, his eyes even bloodier than a second ago.
“Run,” he whispered, the word breaking on his lips. “Run as fast as you can. Because if you don’t leave now…” His voice cracked as his eyes found mine from between his fingers, burning with desperation and all the restraint in the world. “I might not stop until you’re dead.”
The moment his words hit my ears, it felt like I immediately snapped out of a trance, and all the pleasure I’d felt seconds ago evaporated into thin air, leaving behind nothing but fear, panic, and outright horror.
For a second, I couldn’t move, couldn’t think. But a warning growl escaped his lips almost instantly and right after, I ran. Over Cain and his men sprawled on the floor, over the large pools of blood, and into the night.
I kept running and for a moment, it felt like there was something behind me, breathing down my neck, like claws were extending from the darkness to capture me. But I kept running regardless, confused and scared and horrified.
I ran, until I got to my home and barged in. I was panting as I saw papa set down the landline, worry and relief in his eyes as he stared at me. For a moment, it hit me, the fact that I was actually alive and staring at my father.
“Dabere??” He called out, making his way towards me and throwing his arms around me. I stood in shock for a moment, before melting into his arms and crying.
“Dabere, what happened??” He asked, clearly panicking as he cupped my cheek.
I leaned into his touch, and then stared him in the eyes.
“We need to leave Papa,” I said, my voice trembling. “We need to leave now.”

*POV=THIRD PERSON*A TRIP INTO THE RECENT PASTTHREE NIGHTS AFTER THE TULLMERE WAREHOUSE MASSACREONE NIGHT AFTER VICTOR’S FALLOUT WITH KYRIEN!!TRIGGER WARNING!!Holy fucking hell.He looked the farthest thing from a street bum. His chiseled abs glistened with droplets of water cascading down his skin. His shoulders were broader than a fucking boulder.Victor could make out his piercing jawling, his huge biceps, the towel wrapped around his waist, the steady rise and fall of his enormous chest. He’d never been aware of anyone, much less any man, except for Kyrien. This man somehow reminded Victor of him, only he was taller….larger…Was he seeing things? Was he really that drunk??Victor knew he could hold down his alcohol relatively well, but he was very good at hallucinating things even from his first shot. The man suddenly reached behind Victor to take an identity card Victor hadn’t noticed was hanging on the wall.“Vic…tor,” The man read out, then looked Victor in the eyes.“Victor
*POV=THIRD PERSON*A TRIP INTO THE RECENT PASTTHREE NIGHTS AFTER THE TULLMERE WAREHOUSE MASSACREONE NIGHT AFTER VICTOR’S FALLOUT WITH KYRIEN!!TRIGGER WARNING!!Victor downed his drink like it owed him something, then let the empty glass hit the bar with a dull clack. The bartender — a wiry man with the look of someone who’d seen too many drunks die face-first in a toilet —was beginning to throw him concerned looks. But he filled Victor’s glass again without a word. This wasn’t Victor’s kind of place. Low ceilings, broken neon lights, the scent of beer-soaked wood and regret..….this was the kind of bar you ended up in only after everything else fell apart. Victor had come here to do just that, away from eyes that could recognize him.Was he just overreacting? In spite of everything, Kyrien was still his friend. And yet—Yet here he was, trying to drown his sorrows in alcohol, like that ever helped anyone.Victor’s eyes were suddenly drawn in by the low flicker of lights coming from
*POV=KYRIEN*I dashed out of the classroom, and in less than a minute, I was inside my penthouse.I sat down on my sofa, licking the corner of my lips as my mind replayed my fangs piercing her skin and drinking her blood. She’d tasted so much better than I’d imagined. If she hadn’t called out my name like that….I wasn’t sure I wouldn’t have been able to stop until every last drop of her blood was down my throat.I stared down at my hands. Now that I’d really drank her blood, I felt different. More rejuvenated, more energetic. I still craved her blood so much, but now, it was bearable. Like the screaming need for her had died down to a whisper.Still, the last thing I wanted to do was kill her mistakenly. I just had to make sure I never let this thirst grow into something I could no longer control. It would be better for the both of us.I let out a breath and tried to relax.“Kyrien?” I heard a familiar voice call. “Is that you?”“Victor?” I called out, looking around as I sat up.Vic
*POV=DABERE*“Let’s continue from where we left off, shall we?” He asked, staring right at me. It took a few blinks for me to realize he was talking to everyone about the course material, and not just to me.I let out a shaky breath and stared down at my jeans. He’d saved my life, I screamed that inside of my head over and over again, but I couldn’t stop my limbs from trembling, from the feel of his overwhelming presence basically snuffing the air out of my lungs.I opened up my textbook on my desk and tried to focus on my work. Even while he spoke during class, I did my best to avoid eye contact. I couldn’t find one way to describe what I felt. I knew I was terrified of him, and yet, this undeniable attraction I felt towards him simmered relentlessly underneath all of that fear. I had no idea where he’d stopped in the last class since I hadn’t attended, but thankfully from his following statements, we were still discussing the general introduction to forensic accounting.“We will
*POV=DABERE*“Bye Papa,” I muttered as we hugged. Papa squeezed me even tighter. When he finally let go, I exhaled and walked out the front door. “Ije oma,” he said. Safe journey.“Oo,” I replied, and closed the door behind me.“Mekwa ofuma!” He called out from behind the door. Don’t slack off.“Anụgọm oo!!” I yelled back, laughing.I got downstairs, and waved to him one last time before boarding a taxi that took me to the bus station, where I boarded and began my journey back to school. As the distance between Papa and I grew, my anxiety grew alongside it. The fact that I’d almost lost him, the fact that I was even able to go back to school right now, was enough to be eternally grateful to Kyrien. He wasn’t human, true. But he was on my side, and he’d saved my life when we’d first met without knowing who I was. That at least gave him a much higher moral compass compared to Cain. He’d saved me even when he wouldn’t get anything in return. So why was I feeling anxious about returning t
