Entry 7: ???

I went in again to grab a bar of gold, I think we need more money at this year. It is a lot different. Big difference.

We went outside to checked things. I have no idea, I saw people with a lot more different clothes. Some were staring at me.

Women wear clothes that reveal more skin and men wear shirts unlike mine which is long sleeved shirt and trousers.

Few minutes passed, I had the courage to talked to someone, "Excuse me, may I know where is the nearest bank here?"

She never answered me except she pointed out a building fifty meters away from us.

She was stucked on a thing on her hand. I've never seen one. I thanked her and Whitney obediently followed.

Minutes passed, we reached the bank. There's a man in uniform alike to the police, he was carrying a loaded shotgun tied around his body, and an m45 clinging on his waist.

I was astounded on the weapons he was carrying, I was brought back in reality when he spoke, "Um, sir? Are you okay?"

I nervously looked at him and stuttered, "M-May I go inside?"

He smiled at me and replied, "Of course you may."

He opened the door while he smiled but he stopped Whitney, " Ohoho sweetie, I'm afraid you're not allowed inside. Care to join me here for a moment?"

I looked at her she was whimpering, "Whitney, I won't be long. Stay there and wait for me, okay?”

She wagged her tail and bark once which means a yes.

I went to the teller and took out the gold bar I was hiding in my coat. When I placed it on her reception desk she was surprised.

"Can I sell this one to the bank?"

"I'm afraid not, sir. But your best bet was a pawnshop or a jeweller."

"Is there any around?"

She put a finger on her lips, thinking.

She smiled to me, "There is one and it's the nearest. You have to take a cab and tell the driver the Dawson’s Pawnshop."

I smiled at her as I put the gold bar in my coat.

I thanked her and started walking to the exit.

I saw Whitney waiting patiently by the door.

When it finally opened I thanked the guard for looking out for her , Whitney was wagging her tail.

I know we're both hungry. But we must first exchange this gold bar to cash.

We walked to the cabs' lane on the other side of the street. We crossed the street and opened the cab door.

The driver looked at me," Good Morning, sir..." he started.

"Where are we headed to?" his smile never leaves his face.

"Could you please take us to Dawson's Pawnshop?"

"Hop in,sir"

We entered the cab, I was in front beside the driver while Whitney took the back seat. She slumped on there.

The driver started talking to me, "I believed you're from another year, time traveler." his tone is mysterious.

I played innocently, " What do you mean?"

"I can tell from your suit. Those were very antiques. Those were from the 50s. There's an item you're hiding in your coat; you should try blending in this year.”

I tried not to be suspicious but the thought of

him made me uncomfortable.

Then something changed him. It seems he was another person. He quickly took a glanced of me and returned his eyes to the road.

"How was it?" he said still looking on the road.

"How was it being rich, Samuel?" he continued.

Whitney's head rose up, low growls were heard in the cab. Tension started to build up, I was surprised.

He glanced at me for a second and smiled. "I see you don't know me. Haven't Frederick told you about me?"

"How'd you know us?" I asked him with anger in my tone, I started to became cautious.

He smiled again, "You'll know soon"

His cab halted, "Meter says $3.86."

"Oh yeah, you don't have cash.” he laughed.

We came out fast and when I was about to shut the cab door, he spoke again,"I believe we'll be meeting again, Samuel. You owe me. Say hi to Frederick for me.”

I was terrified, I grab the door and shut it. He drove away without a word.

I was shaking when I entered the pawnshop, Whitney was worried looking at me.

I smiled at her, "I'll be fine." I patted her head.

The pawnshop was filled with antiques and the mellow music fitted it.

"Hello, sir. How can I help you?" he smiled

"I want to exchange this for money" I said while taking the gold bar out of my coat.

He was surprised. " It's been a while since someone exchanged a gold bar in here."

I am listening quietly at him. He took the gold bar and placed it on a weighing scale, "I think it was 7 years ago... This one weighs eight kilos."

He placed it in a glass shelf and he went to the cash register.

I spotted something unusual on him, a golden pocket watch. His age was alike of that of a mortal. And it seems he is around in his 60s.

He gave me a large sum of money in exchange of the gold bar.

"Now, young lad, keep an eye on your surrounding from now on. You have a large sum of money on ya. If I were you, my best bet is to place that in a bank" he was pointing at the money and chuckled. He handed me my receipt and sat on a chair.

I smiled at him, counted the money and kept it.

Before I leave the pawnshop, I asked him the date.

He was chuckling and shaking his head before answering, "Ohoho, youngsters nowadays. It is February 27, 2001."

My jaw dropped.

"I see you're extraordinary. You be careful" he warned me.

I thanked him and left the pawnshop immediately, my heart was racing as I held my chest as we walked in search of a restaurant.

Many things are happening...

First the cupboards then the letters, then the cab driver and now this pawnshop owner.

How could that driver know my father?

I must know where's my father and asked him my questions, if he's still alive...

I arrived home with these questions swirling in my mind. I became restless
